Never understood why Saga were not more popular then they were. People just did not get exposed to them. They have a huge catalog of great songs

Ian used Strats and Les Pauls in the early days, and what a unique and talented guitar player, Michael not only had great stage presence and personality when he sang but how cool was it that he actually played bass, keyboards and percussion also, Saga was the best unknown surprise I'd ever gotten at a concert, I saw Jethro Tull in the early 80's completely unaware of who the opening act was, Saga took the stage it was the "Worlds Apart/ Heads Or Tales" period for them and I'll never forget it. My musical life got a little better that night, I enjoyed every second of that show and my introduction to this great band. They became a part of my musical DNA long live Saga 🤘🏻

A stunning array of basses I've seen pass by during their career. This Kramer bass with Aluminium neck used to be popular for quite a time as well. Must have been difficult to keep in tune, I suppose.... I especially liked the Wal and Zon basses.

How come no one ever used this song as the background for an epic Olympic wresting match. It fits perfectly.

I thought the camera crew forgot about Jim Crichton over there.

Jeezus the similarity with the Rush band lol they were probably copying off each other for ideas, which is not too far fetched both being canadian bands from Ontario.

Rush never sounded much like this at all. They’re both Canadian Prog Rock bands, and that’s where the similarities largely end.

@@stoogefest16 Agreed. I love both bands, but I love Saga more. I find most Saga songs just more concise and melodic, while Rush tends to go on virtuosic noodling tangents that sometimes doesn't serve the song as well. And there's no denying Michael Sadler has the far better, more operatic vocals. Peart has by far the better chops than Steve Negus did, but like I said, Negus played more to the song than to showcase his talents and chops.

@@Coelacanth97 I agree. Saga tend to be more concise, but I will say that Rush more often than not understand how not to get lost in their instrumental sections and maintain a clear and sustained sense of purpose throughout, particularly in their classic years between ‘75 and ‘82. They rarely try my patience. That said, Saga gets the edge because the whole prog/space rock sci-fi bombast and existential dramas of their music are slightly more endearing to me. Their sound appeals to me on an instinctive level. Still, Rush is a terrific band and its three members are among the funniest and most likable people in popular music.
