King Crimson - Heroes (Live in Berlin 2016)
Музыка
"King Crimson performed Heroes at the Admiralspalast in Berlin as a celebration, a remembrancing and an homage. The concert was thirty nine years and one month after the original sessions at the Hansa Tonstudio overlooking the Berlin Wall. This is released in the Fortieth Anniversary year." - Robert Fripp.

What a great version of this song. It is a real treat to hear Robert Fripp performing his wonderful guitar part again. His guitar playing was such an important contribution to the original recording 40 years ago. A fitting tribute to David Bowie.

It was and still is the fire and he plays the frippertronics in a pop medium so incredibly well he is has and will always be my favorite guitarist of all time for sure Hendrix after that for me personally. And I watched him play got to meet him and see that happen in the same spot on the stage that Hendrix burned his stratocaster in front of me as a child here in Monterey California..Peace christo

david bowie/jones,it is very possible to not love 'bowie ! ' as his fans respectfully refer to him. apart from a few moments and songs,he represented the triumph of style over content,in keeping with the spirit of his 'heroes' andy warhol and lou reed, jakko i once saw denouncing early king crimson as 'hippy' though he fronted a good tribute act to them, also , king crimson, after the early days ,that i saw ,became a good jazz rock techno enterprise once the magic of pete sinfield went with all shades of meaning and esotericicm too.

Except this is a Fripp and Eno song. Eno wrote the music and did the lyrics with Bowie, but they couldn't figure out the guitar line, so they called Fripp in NY and shipped him to Berlin where he came out with this brilliant, unforgettable, unusual vibratto, the sound that makes this song be what it is.

Goodness! There have been times over the years when I have felt like the only fan of KC. Especially when it cam to some of their jazz style music. My ex sort of tolerated them but was not a huge fan, but she came to one of their RAH gigs many years ago, and loved it. No question at all regards Bowie. One of my all time favourite performances was when he joined Dave Gilmour (also at the RAH) to sing Roger Water's (and Rick Wright's) bit on Comfortable Numb. By heck he took an already rock classic to a whole other level.
A fantastic version, such a tight arrangement for a live performance, yet they make it look easy: that's the sign of greatness.

@Ralph Reilly but.... It's just so obvious - the "sound". It's Robert Fripp. I also have an album from just around that era called "Fripp & Eno", and The conflation of artistic influences is unmistakable - Didn't Eno produce both the Low and Heroes albums? And nowadays, Fripp is so much more tongue in cheek and self-deprecating with his fun, "Sunday Lunch with Toya and Robert" antics. He's earned the privilege of being so silly now 😜 after all the seriousness that has led to so many accolades.

Emotional stuff for me. I remember the wall being built & I remember footage of people being shot as they tried to escape. I've always loved this song, but when I found out the story behind it, it now has such a deep meaning for me.
