Had to watch this video multiple times, because I kept getting distracted by Chopin's second piano concerto. Great choice of background music 👍

For GL W2 I'm running sleep and it is beautiful! Get roughly 2-3 sleeps, which is super nice for mega bomb play and nice cc. Running Safi 3 set bonus and plan on getting Zorah's set bonus when I get the awakening and running the rest as sharp. Did a couple of groups and got damage dealer.

The timing is really nice for both of you to start an iceborn meta series so by the time the series finishes we PC players get an idea of how to build for the new weapons.

For hunter horn users, keep the Stamina IV song list in mind. it only has the atk+def (S and then L) song for DPS increase, but has Def L, all wind negation, stamina use reduction, and increased stamina songs. It has the dragon gong though instead of the impact and that matters for some. I just find it to be my favorite song list. Comfy and protects your party without losing too much DPS and neuters certain wind monsters *couh* kushala *cough*.

Love'n the videos guys, keep up the good work! As a gunlance user, personally I feel that wide and normal are good canidates for para and blast, it just comes down to which playstyle you prefer. I've tried a wide para Lance using zorah ability, wide II, status up V x2 and sharpness VI. The build does really well but I feel it doesn't need the sharpness VI and will try pushing that down to v and one of the elements to VI. Although tempted to make a second version of the build swapping status up for attacks to see if the attack up's make much of a difference.

I played World making my own build and now I see of how good of feel for builds I've acquired over time. Even though I started playing World early, alongside everyone I was slightly late in Iceborne and I started playing at the beginning of December. The first Safi weapons I got and awakened fully were Sleep GS and Para LS :P

Love the fact that you have fails running in the background...its endearing

Long GL only very occasionally pokes, so I'd probably go with poison. You'll need to change direction of shelling sometimes or you might whiff a running attack and land the melee instead.

nice i had the same thought when I was building my long set. blast would proc maybe once but the poison proc would tic away for a while so went with poison for long.

Long 2 ,slot upgrade and zorah for atleast 3 of them then sharpness, that way you can use better armor with more slots for ease of life skills

On Long Gunlance replacing one sharpness with Zorah set bonus is an option, 2 Sharpness V is plenty already. Also, while element/status doesn't matter too much my Blast Long GL gets at least one/two blast procs per hunt so consider using a Poison/Para/Sleep/Blast GL depending on personal preference, Dragon might be ok too for the Elderseal proc.

Switch axe and charge blade is life. Keep up the good work!!

Hey, do you guys plan on making a video about the most damaging combos from all weapons (something like top 10 most damaging combos)? I am beyond curious what the highest dps in the game is. My guess would be either hammer or GS ledgehopping, it could be a heavy bowgun as well.

I have a Safi and MT build on my LS and it's been awesome to use when I have everything that I got, Critical Eye, Attack boost, Agitator, CB, WE and HB and Latent Power works really well with Safi's armor skill so that's a big bonus too. I don't use resentment cause 1. I don't got level 4 Resentment and 2. I like my health augment being there while I know that I get more damage with Resentment, i like my comfy builds and i like my fashion too Update: I changed my build and now I have everything what JinJinx said, Attack 6, Airborne, Critical Eye 4 (You get 20% affinity so might as well lower it down plus agitator and latent power are going to help you get that affinity boost) Resentment and Agitator 5 with Glider Mantle, Critical Boost and Weakness Exploit 3 and Health Boost 3 on my build. So yeah you can get Health boost level 3 with MT and Safi's armor skill.

What if I want to use Crit draw frostcraft GS?

I start every hunt with swaxe the exact same way as in the video. Made me smile

I thought the same regarding the greatsword but just having a health augment restores any dmg you take from safi set bonus. with the added affect that if you do get that 5th hit in it gives more health back because of health augment plus the health u get from the bonus. running 3 piece safi with 2 piece teo on great sword is probably better than the old meta because the dmg+hp restore of the safi GS negates the hp lost from safi bonus. Plus it allows u to go 30% Aff unsheathed so you can put recovery up to get even more hp back.

I can't seem to find and solid information on blast/poison builds and augments: Element up? Status effect up? Can anyone point me in a direction. I've currently got a safi poison db with gold rath essence, status effect up 6, 5, 5, and atk 5. (I found something for maxing element up with protective polish for the 5 elements but nothing on status effects or how to aug/build), and yes I know normally stick to the 5 elements but im still curious. Thanks in advance

[My advice on Long Shelling GL] You don't really need all that sharpness, as shelling doesn't loose any damage until yellow sharpness, its actually more advantageous to build Decoration Slot 4, Defense Up, and whatever armor skill you want, I also highly recommend using Evade distance, and Evade Up 3+ skills if you want to be aggressive(evade tanks Safi's Ire), so you can re-position quickly and evade attacks more easily, reducing the amount of time you spend healing. Also go with Health Regen when augmenting your Long Shell GL, I was surprised how effective it is and now I put HR on all my Gunlances.

On the Long Gunlance I’m having a hard time turning down a Zorah Augment. The bottom 3 Zorah armour pieces ‘aren’t all that’, and I’m not getting through all that sharpness before the monsters transition into another area.

Yeah, shelling damage doesn't even drop until you hit yellow sharpness, so 2 Sharpness V is more than enough

Hi there! Not sure if you read all the comments, but you probably have my favorite MH related content on the platform. Is there, or could you do a weapon augmentation guide (not Safi awakenings) to go over what are the best awakens to aim for? I know health augment was nerfed and in general I have always been quite confused with this in game and would love some direction.

So I’ve been using the ful odonaga set with different gems and I love it for my switch axe. But I’ve been struggling with my gunlance any advice guys?

any calculation about which one did more dps with sticky 3 on rajang hbg (capped dmg) vs zorah hbg (true spare shot) ??

I'm really interested in what is best on wide shelling gunlance. I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to wide shelling cause it's been pretty whatever and I never bothered to learn the playstyle, hope you make a vid about it.

For Wide Gunlance I'm curious about the use of the Zorah Magdaros awakened ability as opposed to the Nargacuga ability. Unless having both True Razor Sharp and Artillery 5 isn't meta right now.

Maybe but personally I'm a SA main and I play with evade window 5 and you can't learn how to use it properly in 30 seconds, so that melody is not worth it

@@arnaudlf2486 evade window is not the primary bonus there, the biggest bit is the speed buff. That thing lets you move faster with the weapon drawn than Sheathed. I'm an attack 2 man myself.

Like Joshua said, the big thing is the speed buff, which is much more useful than stamina buff for the HH user and other common weapons and Health recovery extended doesnt last long enough for it to be useful. The melody list also has small earplugs which works on some monsters, environment damage negated for rotten vale and elder recess for those who use Peak Performance and Mud/snow debuff for Nergigante in Wildspire and a few monsters in Hoarfrost

Mud/snow debuff also works vs Shara which will be super useful when you're fighting AT Shara which will most probably release further down

Hey have you already done a frostcraft bow(non dragon piercer) vs true crit element comparison. I've been using it and seeing good results because the quick sheath into trap/flash or claw attack.

@jinjinx and tuna can you guys make a video/ content that contains what materials you need from the guiding lands to augment the safi jiva weapons? ? ? I'm new to guiding lands and dont know where to even start.

What should I do if I want to maximize white sharpness and dump the rest of the awakens into the raw? A sharpness VI and the rest all attack V? Two sharpness V and the rest attack V with one VI? I kind of want to make Ruiner 2.0 weapons because I'm happy like that.

Can someone explain to why you would run S+ AAAA or SSA+AA, but not something like S+SAAA? My understanding is: S+ AAAA = 2 Handi to reach purple SS A+AA = 4 Handi to reach purple Wouldn't S+S AAA give more sharpness or is there a breakpoint I'm not understanding.

So do we got any spreadsheets here with what we should get when we find them and or certain builds for tiers for them?

Its pretty simple for HH depending if your raw or ele. The Teo'jiiva set is differant though along with if your running any note set other than attack up XL (Stamina 4 is nice utility) but I prefer the earplugs set with affinity boosts and healing support.

About Long GL awakens, why not suggesting zora bonus / any set bonus over sharpness by default? Being long shelling the sharpness gain is barely relevant and you can use the set bonus awaken to run two 3-pieces set bonuses (including zorah) and/or potentially have more wiggle room in your build. Just curious.

For poison/blast lance couldn't you just run sharpness 6, MT, and 3 attack 5? I'm pretty sure sharpness 6 will give purple sharpness, also would you just swap the health augment for attack or would you wanna keep it?

I use a blast long shelling GL personally. Mainly because I do the occasional poke from guard if I need to get wyrmstake placed higher up so it's on parts I need to break. I use a Zorah set paired with Vaal for comfy use (add a Zorah awaken and i can slip silver-los greaves in for some slinger capacity) I run 3 sharpness awakens just so I have purple so I don't bounce when I'm trying to stick a wyrmstake on harder parts like safi's chest pre-supercritical (no minds eye deco)

What materials do you need to make the peak performance charm 3?

To sum it up. For raw weapon pick blast. Collect all elemental db and bow.

Tuna talked about a LS build with Velk+Punishing Draw looking interesting. I would assume that build would be geared towards Sharpness Awakenings to be competitive, but it isn't something I'd expect to overtake a straight Raw build despite the sheer damage boost from Frostcraft+Punishing Draw. What surprises me is Gunlance: Wide Shelling absolutely wants the Zorah awakening because it means replacing a piece of absolutely trash armor. Between that, a Razor Sharp charm, and some Sharpness awakenings the WIde and Long GLs are trivially easy to build for. Also aerial hammer only got better with Safi weapons. Seriously, it's mean how good that damage output gets.

For long gunlance I would really recommend sleep, specially if you are playing in multiplayer. Since you mostly don't poke at all, you can choose when to start poking the monster in order to get one cheeky sleep just by virtue of running sleep in your weapon. This sort of gives you a one use CC option that could be very helpful if used well.

Thats a good idea, it would take a lot of pokes though. However as Long GL has the most freedom in builds ever, you can slot some sleep attack to make it take far less pokes.

For DB would it be worth putting MT on the weapon to use Crit element? So it would be 3P Rath 2P Teo or Vice Versa or does that remove to much damage for it to be worth?

Thanks a lot with the analysis. I've been having a headache with the way Capcom buffed the Perfect Rush and was puzzled if I should give 2 Ele(5)+1 Attk(6) or 2 Attk+1 Ele(6). Although I'm still not sure how I should work around with awakened skills for SNS, I get the gist that giving Ele awakened skills as much as possible for Ele SNS is still viable. Except for SNS, DB, Bow, and Bowguns, weapons with high Weapon Values (higher than value 2) are likely to show good performance with having as many Attk awakened skills as possible, is what I sought while working around with SNS skill combination. Again, thanks for all the work around and research you've done with. Still, I kind of hope you upload videos for people who wants to use Ele weapons with high Weapon Values should combine the awakened skills. And is there a website of glossary for the jargons used in this video? My main is not English MH so I need to catch up with the jargons.

I'm kinda sad that perfect rush is so raw skewed cuz they said before iceborne dropped that it would amp up element very nicely. But at least elemental SnS still has a place if you focus on combos with spiral slashes thrown in x_x

Question: if I’m running a build that’s 100% affinity, I don’t need WE right? It seems WE is only to increase affinity on wounded part hits, but if you are running 100% affinity then this is moot. Correct? Am I missing something?

Dude. I use the Safi set with LS just fine. Iai slash does reset the bonus which means instead of 6 hits it takes 8 but you just have to know when the right time is to use it. It hardly takes away enough health to put you in danger, especially if you build right and use a health augment. LS is just lucky it hits moderately fast.

I enjoy watching your video.but jinx you silghty wrong with the DB. You can go with the purple sharpness Vx2 with a Attack V and element and get the same result. Along if anything you can also just used the nimeille essence along with x2 elements up V and affinity VI and sharpness V.

I definitely recommend running zorah on GL. Have a friend that uses it, and the cooldown on artillery secret wyvern Fire is sexy. But thats a personal thing, not a 100% efficiency thing.

I've actually found that gs on safi set is pretty usable. With that natural evade window up 3 from the beta, slotting in evade extender 3 let's you roll around at the speed of sound. It is a massive adjustment tfrom normal gs playstyle, but is certainly workable and with a health aug on the weap it counters the health loss pretty well, even more so if you're like me and run rec up.

give you a chance at getting increased rewards when completing a QUEST (increased meaning bonus, as in more (quantity) not better (quality) in monster hunter tri it was a chance to literally get double quest rewards... had one guy get 4 rathalos AND rathian rubies from 'double trouble' on his first run... after i had spent 10 hours looking for one ;_;

Ls isnt great for safi sure but to be fair the parry can be used less with certain monster resentment gives big efr and constant uptime without needing the augments for peak optimization overall would need it tested it to know what the efr increase overall is or is it not worth it

I can’t decide between para and boat for GS I’m running frostcraft and gold essence I won’t play without gold essence and health augment I’m too Tanky I use 1-2 megas every run and I like it that way

Masters touch and divine blessing secret is way better. Don’t even need to use healing items all that often

I run charge blade (What? I like big damage, sue me.) Blast element, working on Dragon. Sharpness 6, Attk 5, Nergigante Essence, Aff 5 and Stat 5. Planning on getting Ruiner Nerg chestplate and a health regen augment to negate the damage penalty on the safijiva set, may switch it up when AT Ruiner Nerg comes out.

I've been using poison longsword and have been getting good returns on it. It just needs status effect up.

Will the 20 units of purple sharpness be worth it on my Hammer set since I don't run Master's Touch? Or should I stick with Sharpness V and the rest on Attack.

i believe the 20 units of purple is optimal ONLY if you have master's touch, because it assumes you're amazing and never lose purple if you lose purple, then you are losing dps, and purple isn't very useful for raw, so it's mostly effective just to help you stop bouncing

Is there part 2? What should I awaken on IG?

For Long Gunlance, I ended up going with Zorah set bonus, Slot 4, Sharpness V, Long II and Defence V. Now, you can swap out Defence for Sharpness, but that's down to preference, really. The Zorah set bonus gives you far more slots to work with, which you can use for QoL boons, defensive or whatever. Long as it's netting you survivability and uptime? It's a DPS gain. Personally, I only go with one Sharpness upgrade, because two is overkill, and three is preposterously unnecessary.

@@godhi4515 It is if you get into yellow, but aside from a longer phase 1 on Safi'Jiva, I never get down to it. Regular hunts are never an issue because of a monster disengaging or going to sleep, giving time to sharpen. I suppose it is a choice between never needing to sharpen vs. very rarely to sharpen in exchange for more defence.

Can you make a video on elemental acceleration and critical element to see if there true version are better or if they are better together or what’s the best DPS combination possible

I think that's very easy to explain: True ele is obsolete now. If you want max dps on ele CB, safijiva full set is the way to go, or "hybirid" 3 safis + teostra tech. If you want True Crit element, only Bows and Duals work. Both skills you mention aren't used on the same weapon tho.

last i checked element acceleration - 80 element true element - 150 element crit element - 1.2 bonus true crit element - 1.4 (or 1.5, not sure) true crit element is 'better' if you can fit enough crit into the 4 set compared to just the 2 pieces of the other one element acceleration is better, simply because it gives more damage (make sure you aren't at cap, i've been having that issue with bow) as for optimal sets or which one is better than others, that depends more on the weapon, example, pepcb saed likes acceleration more than crit element, because acceleration increases phial damage, but i don't believe they can crit as for optimal dps... they'll get there
