You can change your weapon before you go to appraise, so you can hunt Safi with a greatsword and change to a longsword in your item box and then go appraise and you get a guaranteed longsword Instead of greatsword.

The visual effect change of the gun lance is that the bindings “fall off” Most weapons have white bindings and when the weapon awakens they rip off of fall off, like a demon being released

Think of them as seals that "seal" the demonic power within the weapon that one wields. When unsheath, the seals rip off as a sign of demonic power unleashing from the weapon, hence why the weapons look very devilish in nature.

A hint: IF you want a 5 star set bonus (gold rath/silver rath/rajang etc) go for it FIRST, the odds for the one to show up in the midst of all the upgrade/6 star upgrades is insanely slim (I went over 200 stored potential without Srath showing, on a fresh one it took me ~20 several times) Hope it helps ppl not to go through the issues I went through

what is the star purpose for the essence?

It took me 5 sieges to get my ideal long shelling gunlance (level 6 shelling, Zora set bonus, the rest in sharpness), and without handicraft it has a huge chunk of purple sharpness. I love the thing, and being able to swap out a Zora piece has let me add a bunch more to my build. Capcom did an awesome job on this system. It's tedious, but rewarding. Plus they all look awesome.

For me best guide regarding the new update. I watched two different guides before and had still open questions. But after i have watched your guide i became a wise men for the safi jiva thing. thank you shield brother.

Thanks for explaining the "awakening level"; wasn't sure how that was working (duh!). Also, thanks for the tip on filling up all the slots, then going from there.

The Lance has a cool awakening feature where the Shield opens up. Because Safi's armor is IMO the coolest looking armor in the game, I been trying to use stuff that can take advantage of it's bonus. Currently SA/Lance/SnS seems to take advantage of it's abilities. The main ability that shines with Safi's set is Latent Power and Resentment, as now you can control when it activates.

Very helpful video! This made me realize that what I was doing with the awakening system is wrong. Now I understand that the number of stars (awakened ability rarity) adds up to awaken the weapon.

As I was building my Glutton 3.0 i did exactly that with the upgrades without knowing. Just fill the slots and take it from there, nice fast forward music by the way!! Great job Ruri!!

I'm not a fan of this. It's like Kulve all over again, in the older MH games all weapons were viable because there was a point to using them based on their elements and ailments. Now everyone is going to run around with the same looking weapons again, at least the glow tells you what element they are using. But this is exactly what most people complained about, this is basically the ore/bone weapons with fur or scales on it. They look the same, sure they glow, but I'm not a moth, I prefer more variety and interesting designs.

@@theblackbaron4119 Then if you have played the game you understand viability is not simply having the strongest weapon. MH is a cooperative game and the point is winning and not carting. Thus any build that allows you to do that whilst looking good and giving you fun is "Viable"

You can save before you upgrade and if you don't like the skills, just quit game and try again.

Rurikhan, I suggest using zorah magdaros essence because you can use arms and legs for slinger cap then Damascus chest and zorah A helmet and B waist then slot it out

Lol, I can play and love all weapons but i continually yell curse words at almost all weapons people use. Gunlance wyvern blast, longsword swipes, arrows and sticky to the back of head and hammer tosses to the air (which can be useful sometimes). They all suck for team play but it's awesome. I really hate insect glaive cuz my buddy runs it 100% of hunts. I was forced to craft a gunlance build with flinch free and I pay him back wit the wayvern blast. He gets so mad that he screamed, "fucking warn me next time!" I said, hows it feel bro?" You need to warn me every 3seconds with your whoopin stick.

You can break down weapons with potential buildup (you can get free potential by fighting safi with safi weapons) for extra dracolite. Also. Don't forget you can upgrade old Xeno weapons to R12 with safi materials

Yeah my gunlance was close to what you were wanting to make there the only difference was I had attack V instead of affinity, long shelling ll instead of normal, and Zorah’s skill instead of Silver’s skill

You can hit triangle to auto materials into it to next level, just like armor.

What is the music used when the video was speeding though upgrading?

@@maliwan516 its actually the opposite, you save to the cloud a perfect copy of your current save which the game already does by itself. then you turn it off and do all your shenanigans locally on a console, if you are satisfied with results you turn saving to the cloud back on and continue. if not you switch off the game just as if you were playing offline. it has exactly the same chances (if not lower) of corrupting a savefile as playing a normal way. the only thing is a moral side of it because technically its abusing a saving system

There is no shelling normal/long/wide 3 for awakened abilities right even though it's 4 star at 2?

is it just me, or does the book the palico have in the background have a mask of truth bookmark in it's book??

4:10 He has "Despot's Thunderclap" despite never using a Hunting Horn. If there's any one weapon in the game that people craft for cosmetic purposes it's the electric guitar.

One thing I don't understand is what do the stars mean for the armor set skill (ie. Teostra, Gold, Rajang, etc.). If you have a 1 star vs 5 star what's the difference?

The awakened ability it comes with can I change it?

to make it easier and quicker, just press triangle twice to auto use dracolite, so you don't have to keep manually choosing. Pressing it once will put in the dracolite the game wants to use, which you can cancel out of if you don't want to use, say, a rigid dracolite.

Trying to roll Zorah Essence on my 2nd gunlance is my worst nightmare. Also, I notice that the higher the awakening level on the weapon the more resources it takes to upgrade it. So it may not always be better to get the base skills if you want a set bonus, especially a rare one like the Zorah Essence. Still trying to figure out the best way to get Zorah essence while using as few materials as possible...

I really want to know is there such thing as weapons with no element attached to them? I have every single element of the weapon I use but I'm not sure if it comes just straight up without an element too.

Working on a Sleep Bombing GL, so far I got Sharpness Lvl5, Affinity lvl5, Attack Lvl5, Status Lvl4(trying for a 6) and for now Black Veils set bonus

The base GL is Normal 5, and each shelling change only goes to II, being Normal II (to Normal 7), or Wide/Long II (to Wide/Long 6, the first switching the type then upgrading)

I think you can upgrade Xeno weps and armors too

I just need 1 more horn for my last Safi Armour set piece (helm), what weapon/element/status do you recommend to break it's horns? I usually use Blast IG with Goldheart armor

no, it counts as a single piece. you still need to wear three other velkhana armor pieces to activate frostcraft.

Do you get the ingot layered armor from the grinding lands ? Really love that armor but I don't see it on my crafting list

It's for the two piece set bonus, slinger expert, gives me more slinger ammo which influences how long wyvernsteak blast lasts.

Where is the long 7 option?

I seen somewhere a comment about making the weapons you disband 6awaken to get double the items ands it’s true. I did about 5runs today and the very lowest level items I used to make my duplicates level 6 awaken. (Two 3* augments) and got double the big ones back which is a fair trade for the small crappy ones

got blast bow, sleep hammer, blast horn, poison switch ax. got alot of work to do.

maybe I was lucky, but an evening of farming, 3-4 ish hours, and I got my perfect gunlance. lv7 normal, zorah essence and lv 6+5+5 sharpness.

I'm 99% sure you get by completing all the optional quests from low rank and high rank. (you'll also need to capture one of each monster to get their arena quests and do those)

You can augment sharpness onto your gs, sharpness 4 x2 and 1 handicraft charm make purple.

Anyone wanna help me get materials for Safi'Jiiva? I have a fully upgraded Magda HBG Sticky 3 Clustef build and good for Para and Poisoning Safi'Jiiva at the very last stage of the fight. PS I clustwr the wings when he is down so fill free to go for the head, tail or legs.

I’m not getting this idea of rajang rage fuller leveling your weapon... to my understanding. The higher star value just means rare perk? This guy makes it sound like the set bonus is increased based on star count.... or did I get him wrong?

Star count = awakened level, and from my experience (let me repeat that, from my experience, as in I'm not claiming this is a fact) a higher awakening level tends to roll higher rarity abilities.

BUT the skill perk. the whole... tigrex or zinogre or [insert monster] perk. from what i got, from what you were saying. it sounded like we should go with the 5 star skill perk over a 3 star skill perk even if that set bonus is actively being used in our build. for example, i like using vaal set bonus. if i get that on my weapon. it's a rare 4, but rare 5 is ishvalda set bonus. from what i got out of this video, you were saying. in order to get a better roll or increase my weapon level. i should forgo my vaal set bonus for ishvalda set bonus. not because i would actually incorporate that into my build but instead because it somehow would give me better rolls? or increase my level? this seems wrong... to me at least. but please don't think i'm attacking you. i mean no offense when saying this. merely trying to understand or clarify so that i CAN understand this if i did miss something.

You can just hit Y or triangle when you're on the Required Materials screen, and the game will automatically figure out the most optimal combinations of materials, same with upgrading armor. It's pretty minor but saves a few seconds.

You can save your game them do a bunch of awakenings and close whitout saving if you didin't get what you want and try again. Disable autosaves for this.

I've been farming Safi since the siege started (using a Glaive). Each time I get 2/3 glaives in my rewards. I'm farming for a Blast Safi Glaive. Not ONE has dropped yet. Can anyone confirm if they exist??

I got a master's touch Swax with blast on my first siege (I was playing with the Ironbreakers too), RNGesus smiled on me on that day. Also LBG is officially broken now (I'm not even exaggerating) sure it'll be nice to have 5 mod slots but who cares?; when you can have artillery secret and true spare shot on the same set!, when you can rapid-fire elemental shots with massive clip sizes and when the HZD crossover gives you a r12 LBG (W/a new mod) that allows you to do stupid amounts of damage!.

Not realy for every point besides hzd lbg. For sticky damage cap makes rajang better for speedruns and guyding lands(it still has more raw).The new gun is good when you dont stack fortify though. Elemental lbg are upgrade for rf element. RF does less damage then current single shot meta .Again , you get better comphy sets (rf solves ammo issues compared to single shot) .Basically new guns are not broken they just give some more alternatives (which is big by itself)

You have to know your build that binds well with your weapon. Depends on what you want. Use all your deco slots with defense gems and handicraft, does not leave you much for damage dealing skills like agitator and crit eye along with crit boost and weakness exploit. Throw sharpness and defense on the your weapon and the sky is the limit for other skills. Its hunters with this mindset or lack of knowledge that cant kill a valkana in 20min bro.

I wish you could raise weapon potential by hunting any monster.
