Safety is NOT a Priority - Safety Training Video - Preventing Accidents and Injuries
A truck technician with almost 40 years experience was working on a truck during his lunch hour because the customer was waiting, and he was in a hurry to get his vehicle back.
Because he was in a hurry, the technician failed to deploy a safety system built into the truck's hydraulic mechanism to prevent it from falling on the mechanic. His foot slipped and struck the operating lever, bringing the mechanism down, crushing him to death.
In that business, safety was a "priority," and priorities get shuffled. In this case, safety was moved down and "customer service" became the "#1 priority."
This short video explains the dangers of relying on safety slogans and the effective alternative that will make your life safer - at work, at home, or anywhere else.

I completely agree that it's not safety first and not a priority. Safety has to be embraced as a value. Only when it's a shared value can organizations have a safety culture. My number one goal is to make money and earn a paycheck, even as a safety professional. I love that you said that. Great video. Personal responsibility, brilliant, needs to be pushed more. No actual practical Safety is not a one size fits all. 1st. What is the most prominent danger. For example sometimes I have to wear FR coveralls in 90 degree plus heat and 900 + humidity. My immediate threat in that instance would be a heat injury. Not an explosion. But no college indoctrinated idiot, my company or OSHA don't care. When I do have to wear them there is no adequate areas to change or adequate hydration sources. But that is real Safety, right? Seems like it is now. Freakin idiots. Another example. Some places require gloves. Try to untie rope in gloves. Or do precise finger work in gloves. It don't work. 3rd example steel toed boots. Sometimes you need to feel were your feet are. Safety now is a really sick joke that has become more unsafe than it is safe. I have always paid so much attention to what I am doing and the environment I am in and the HSE idiots that dictate to me their BS? Theae are such lovers that have never done anything but claim something. Just like in the military. Never strap a brain bucket to your chin. You want it free and loose so if an enemy's round hit it it will move. Same with high viz vests and clothing especially in a vehicle. Apparently no one remembers the DC snipers huh? As for hard hats? Why aren't office personally wearing them? Cieling tiles do give way time to time. That is a more immediate threat than atomic birds hit in an open area. Like I said the whole idea of actual practical safety has become a joke dictated by idiots. I challenge you to correct me if I am wrong. Yeah I have been in "safety" before and 80 percent of the shit I had to teach was wrong and spoke my opinion. Most of the shit is wrong. Dictated down from idiots that need an app to wipe thier asses. Yeah they are that stupid.

Corporate must give top priority to their workers safety. This is one of the concerns of unwanted accidents because some companies do not take action with this issues. But of course, it should be also the responsibility of the person, he should take control and know how to avoid this accidents! That is why we should always use our safety gear, mine is Softgle Comfort. Best in keeping you safe and comofrtable!

+Nigel Gratious In your experiences at your job, what would you say safety wise has gotten out of hand? In my experiences it was to wear PPE that was not necessarily suited or even remotely valuable to the tasks being performed. Someone made a policy that looked like safety so therefore it was. I'm all in for real safety, not the made up kind. Peace.
