July 2018, after watching this video I removed two dauber nests. Very easy, I saw the nest interior -- just as you described and a spider carcass. A dauber approached me as I did this but she just flew away, maybe tending a few other exterior nests that I've seen. No stain left I used a toothbrush with a dab of Dawn and a wet paper towel to clear away the residue. I felt sort of sad, after all she's just another creature trying to raise her young. And, now I know that she eats spiders and doesn't sting people. Thanks for all your help.

just curious,do the mud Daubers sleep in there nest? I mean the adults? Or do they go somewhere else? One summer I was weed wacking a big tall field behind a machine shop were there was a huge dirt nest in side. But I saw at least 20 or more of these mud Daubers sitting on top and sides of these tall 6 foot like thistles or whatever they were. It was early sunset hours and it terrified me so I stopped weed wacking in that area.

How would you get rid of the shadow mark? Thank you for sharing your knowledge

I was under the impression that mud daubers won't build a nest when there is another nest present. Live and learn.

My window was closed and I was asleep and it had a little crack where it didn't shut all the way, which I didn't know, when I woke up I had mud daubers in my room flying around, they made a nest on the shade of my overhead room light while I was asleep, would it be ok to unscrew the shade from the light I guess at night so I can throw it out in the yard without getting stung, I just want the nest and the daubers out of my room asap.....
