    Loved this video! Just got two old 1604 VLZ pros from my old church. Pastor said “take em both”. Gonna dust them off and see what’s what when my Deoxit F5 fader lube gets here.

    Great tutorial! I bought used (but in excellent condition) an older version of this mixer (the mixer is not with me now and I don't remember any RCA connections on mine and the 10 XLR preamps on the bottom row were an add-on (which I have)). I use mine for live shows so the auxes are used for effects and monitor mixes. I wish I had more gigs to use it. :-/. I remember when playing bass on the blues circuit in the Boston area in the late 90's and early 2000's, these mixers were very popular in the clubs which provided sound. I could only dream of having one back then. Again. Thanks for the posting this great tutorial

    Love this video ❤… if you are sending subs to a daw for recording via your audio interface, and you want to bring a few channels back into the desk, where do you plug them in ? Or do you have to remove your line inputs from your instruments first and re patch ? Thank you anyone that has an answer , much appreciated !

    How would you go about drum bus compression without using 2 more channels? I have a 1604 16 so tracks are limited. Just setup a left(aux1) and right(aux2) and send all drums to that? I assume you just adjust the send return knobs as sliders? Also that throws it right to the master right? Can’t route it anywhere.

    tuneroneff Neither Prefader nor Postfader. Insert break point SendOut signal is only affected by Gain/trim settings. however, Insert break point Return-In after being processed, will continue down the path to the next/rest of channel mix ie PEQ, Auxes, Main/SubG assign.

    I've watched quite a few PA videos, this has got to be the most interesting, lost me for a while at aux send / return bit? If I'm using aux 1 and 2 sends for stage monitor mixes, and then aux 3 and 4 sends for outbound effects like chorus and reverb, I'd always take the aux returns into aux 3 and 4 returns, but during the video you seem to be taking from 3 and 4 and feeding back to 1 and 2, I didn't know you could/should do this, I realise you were setting up for recording so not the same, but how does the pre/post fader switch affect this when the return isn't in the same value as send?

  • @piratedprivacy9052

    HRJ1411 You're confused... You do not need to follow the NUMBERS of the AuxSend to those of their Stereo Returns. A Reverb/Delay wet signal can be returned/mixback into the board in whichever StereoReturn that you wish/worked best for you. Eg is AuxSend3 to FX unit, a wet signal after the FX can be returned into StereoReturn1/2/3/4 or any free channel strip eg channel9-10(but remember Not to turn up the Aux3 knob for these channel, otherwise a signal relooping occur).

    You’ll never find an analog mixer video that tells the whole story! “This is the mixer section- these are the inserts-this is the fader…” That’s all you get. Not… “ok plug in here- push this button- hear nothing? It’s because you gotta push that….” They think we should figure it out. It’s like “so you just waisted our time!” Never!

    When you shift Aux 3 to make it Aux 5, I assume it's still the same level as Aux 3? In other words, Aux 3 and 5 cant be set to different levels.

  • @jawilli69

    @jawilli69

    4 жыл бұрын

    sbrave I believe you’re correct, but on each channel you can do it different, so on channel one you may want to use a stereo delay, but on channel two you may want a reverb. So Aux 3,4 can be used for the delay unit, and Aux 5,6 can be sent to the reverb unit. That way you can have 2 stereo effects, or 4 mono effects, hooked up and available to use. Only drawback being you can only use 1 stereo effect or 2 mono effects at a time per channel.

  • @piratedprivacy9052

    sbrave No, when you set level for Aux3, it is sent to AuxOut3. But after you pressed shift5/6, what the level you've set at knob Aux3(5) remained BUT is no longer output at Aux Out3 but instead to AuxOut5. To note here is that, there is no Master Send Aux3/4/5/6

    Do you know of a mixer that has 2 inputs per channel for stereo input ? They are all balanced and TRS inputs. You want to use 2 channels for stereo input applications so you can control Volume level of spectrum.
