Sabiki Fishing in Japan - Japanese Horse Mackerel "Aji"

Hey guys, thanks for popping in. This time, I'll be using a popular Japanese fishing style called Sabiki Fishing.
The Sabiki Rig consists of many small hooks that imitate krill or tiny bait fish, and a weighted basket at the bottom of the rig for your bait / chum. It is a very effective rig for catching lots of bait fish like Horse Mackerel "Aji", Mackerel "Saba", Sardine "Iwashi", etc.
Hope you enjoy the video!

Hi, thank you! I live in the southern area of Mie Prefecture. This video was actually shot 1 - 2 months ago in autumn when it was warmer. I've been a little busy with work recently so the video is a bit late, sorry about that!

Hi, this video was shot in the Minamiise part of Mie Prefecture. I don't do much ajing, but most ajing anglers here fish around fishing harbors with street lights at night. A local tackle shop would be able to advise you on the best spots and lures for the area you're in!

Great video! I would be very nervous to unhook a stingray. Are they a regular catch in Japan?

Thank you! Yeah, you have to be really carefully especially with the tail! Yes, they are very common in Japan, especially if you leave bait at the bottom.

Thank you! I'm not too sure about the costs, however, there are companies that set up fishing rafts in these areas specifically for recreational fishing. You can try looking up ikada fishing in Japan, or 筏釣り

Hi, I bought this rig from a tackle shop in Japan. This type of sabiki rig with the bucket on the end is the most common type used throughout Japan and can be found in all the tackle shops here. I'm not sure how to get them overseas though. Perhaps you can try checking out online tackle shops from Japan that ships overseas.
