Japanese Wind Technique - Light Game Fishing for Juvenile GT in Japan

Hey guys, thanks for coming by. This video was shot a few months ago during early winter.
In this video, I'll be fishing for Juvenile Trevally using a Japanese technique called "wind" pronounced as "waindo" in Japanese, as in winding the handle of the reel.
Although they can be found in Okinawa, Trevally, such as Giant Trevally and Bigeye Trevally, are not native to Mainland Japan. They follow a warm current called the Kuroshio Current flowing from the south up north to Japan during the late Autumn to early Winter.
As they thrive in warm waters, they unfortunately do not survive through the winters. However, they are a very popular light game target during Autumn and early winter, and they are also delicious!
Hope you enjoy the video!

I wish I could fish In England like Japanese people do. It's usually a lot rougher sea here but I want to catch on similar techniques

There are heavier wind setups targeting flat fish using 10-20+ gram jigheads and 2.5 - 3.5 inch plastics. Are you able to use those there?

What is the rod casting weight and how far can you cast

Hi there, the casting weight for this rod is 1 ~ 12 grams. I haven't measured casting distance before, it depends on the rig I use but I think maybe around 20 - 30 meters.
