@PARTH Asha my pov is that rituals are of two kinds- rituals that you personally perform and rituals that are collectively performed. Rituals have meaning and give satisfaction to the performer of the ritual because it’s followed in a certain way. For example some athletes have a ritual of wearing the left socks first and that gives them a sense of peace, now if you come and say it doesn’t matter we should not discriminate which order socks are to be worn, this is a meaningless argument because this is a ritual that is true for the person practicing the ritual, if this ritual is not in agreement with you- you don’t need to even bother about it, just ignore it. The same case with rituals pertaining to the collective- unless they are physically or mentally harmful to other people, it is not up to the non-believer in that ritual to enter into that space

@PARTH Asha that's exactly the point...people don't understand that sabarimala is not a tourist place.. it's a temple where a specific diety resides who has some preferences (celibacy) and has given some basic commandments to his devotees for visiting him..it's just not the age ban..there are lots of things..like 41day penance etc..I can't elaborate on all..if you are interested to know more feel free to google..every devotee who wants to climb the 18steps and have his darshan ..he is supposed to take the 41day vrath and be a total celibate..not to shave .wear black..not to wear chappals etc..and devotees literally do that.All that hardships only because they believe in the commandments given by the lord of whom they are going for darshan.. Any temple is for the believers of that deity..Some temples may have strict policies ..some may not..but regardless it's not a tourist place..if "ANYONE"( I consider that as an unbeliever) they ca just go to some other place..they can do trekking on lots of mountains..even Himalayas..but not Sabarimala.. ..it's common sense that when one goes to visit someone they have to follow the host's preferences in mind..

Ranganathan as Usual is Clearly Learned, Logical, Factual and hits the Bull's eye with his words of Crystal Clarity The participants in the debates must compulsorily hear what he says in the debates It will be truly beneficial and adds to One's Learning

@@muditashukla9218 Not really,pls dnt forget that Dr Swamy has taken up many issues and won them in the courts even though he is not a lawyer and he is a self taught lawyer,he is actually a world renowned economist and not many ppl can hold a candle to him in that regards and also many other issues,Sai Deepak is brilliant but he has a long time to go before he can come close to Swamy and I am just talking abt law,in other areas he can't match him.

@Arid being atheist i don't have any issue with any religion.. When i was in clg, i saw Muslims mocking Hindus regarding our religion.. I made every Muslim cry.. Tamil Nadu is also deeply hindus religious state. Unfortunately like many hindus they don't know how to organize and see bigger picture. Today much of Vedic chanting methods survive in TN and other south Indian states

I was talking about how just like South Indians are fighting for Hindus , the VEDIC chanting part is also best preserved in TN and other south Indian states. I never implied DEVARM, thiruvasaga etc. are part of Vedic Chants. This was in light of this thread "TN Lions for Hinduism" .. I am merely highlighting that TN has (or used to have) the most no of Vedic scholars, esp for Chanting. This is recognized even by orthodox schools in Kashi, Rishikesh, Orrisa etc. many religious mindied north Indian Hindus are also now asking Tamil Vaadhyars to conduct Homas etc.. as these traditions are best preserved in TN, Karanataka, Kerala and Andhra.. (but under severe attack) So I am not counting devaram etc, as Vedic Chants, NOR am I am trying to demean them. I consider them Tamizh and not Dravidian.
