Saab JAS 39E Gripen Fighter Cockpit - What it Looks Like From Inside

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Checking out Saab JAS 39E Gripen mockup cockpit POV and outside views.
Gripen E/F is developed to counter and defeat the most advanced threats in a modern battlespace and to continously evolve in order to keep up wtih new challenges. We have built an intelligent fighter system that rapidly embraces new technology and tactics in a way that will always keep us ahead. That's why with Gripen E/F, you are forever ahead.
Defeat any threat. Anywhere
In the modern battlefield, fighters will have to act in high-threat environments such as contested air space and handle Integrated Air Defence Systems. Gripen E/F carries a variety of both active and passive measures to disrupt enemy efforts and protect itself and other friendly units. Its advanced electronic warfare system, similar to an electronic shield, allows disruption of the enemy’s ability to function effectively. This can be used either to assist in destruction of enemy assets or simply to reduce the enemy’s understanding and ability to react. All this while ensuring mission success, using the latest weaponry and countermeasures. This freedom of action allows Gripen E/F pilots to defeat any threat - anywhere, and return home safe.
See the unseen. Before being seen
The ability to attack or assess opposition at range is a key feature in Gripen E/F. Gripen utilizes all available data in the battle cloud - whether coming from Gripen fighters or other air, land or sea-based units, and fuses it locally on every platform but we are also fusing globally between fighters. The result: We see the unseen. Gripen E/F reduces its likelihood of being detected by relying on its passive sensors, or through active jamming. This means that weapons can be used either beyond the point at which opposing forces can respond or without them ever realising Gripen was there.

Finnish Air Force 100th Anniversary Air Show took place in Tikkakoski, Central Finland from 16 to 17 June 2018. During the weekend the event was attended by 26,000 visitors who saw a selection of aircraft from Air Force past and present. Also candidates for the Finnish F/A-18 Hornet Multi-Role fighter replacement programme, known as HX Programme, showed their capabilities in Tikkakoski
Jyväskylä Airport was originally built as a base for the Air Force in 1939. Today, the majority of the airport’s traffic still comes from the flight training of the Air Force Academy, which is located nearby at Tikkakoski. The airport also serves on a broad scale the lively university city of Jyväskylä and the municipality of Central Finland.

    My favourite plane, even before Su-57. :) The Swedes always made the most reliable fighters (and in some ways the best too). For instance, the Draken was always superior to MiG-21 or ridiculous F-104. :D The Viggen was not the best, but very innovative, at least way better than the incompetent French Mirage fighters. The Gripen is just the newest example for Swedish engineering genius. The 38° degrees instantaneous turn rate even outclasses Rafale and Eurofighter, which have 35° (F-22 and Su-35 even somewhat less). So it's the most agile jet fighter ever build. The Gripen is even stealthy, even more than Suchois Su-57! :) Plus the Gripen has the best good price-performance ratio. Brazilian government had made a wise decision for chosing that plane. :)

Where as a center stick would make it equally as easy to pull left and right, therefor making it less predictable.

    1 Screen seems a bit prone to vulnerability. One fuze needs to break down and the situational awareness is out of the window. I'd prefer at least 3 screens. Redundancy is never wasteful.

  • @djyppo

    While I agree that redundancy is vital, it seems that some 5th gen fighters are starting to follow this trend. Just look at the F-35 or J-20 HUD, they are quite similar to this one.

  • @Pincer88

    @Pincer88

    @@AlexKall Though they (HUD and HMDS) could function as a backup, I'm not sure wether these can give the same refined form of situational awareness. WAD is a great thing, but here in the Netherlands we have had considerable trouble with operating the CV90/35 NL, because the vetronics were often malfunctioning due to the rather 'uncivilized' manner by which the infantry used to treat their vehicle equipment during operational exercises or deployment. seems now the electronic equipment in the vehicles have a 'hooligan proof' design and works as designed. I have no doubt in the ability of Saab to deliver WAD as advertised and make a system that can endure the harshest of conditions. But you know what Von Clausewitz said about friction. It's like Murphy's Law. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. Better safe than sorry and better not be pennywise and poundfoolish.
