Not even the Global Eye, it was the older Saab 2000 AEW&C system and PAF's older jammers based on Falcons. Absolutely excellent performance from those systems especially considering the fact that this was the first reported combat test for many of them

I would not even guess the GaN radar on the top of the plane cost a fortune. It is going to detect >1m² at 680 km if I understand the + 70% correctly and that is needed since the missiles are getting nastier and nastier. One of the demands were that one of the the planes stationed in the Sweden should be able to serve the entire nation however that would mean a + 900 km detection range, it seems they did not reach that goal. It will serve nation like Finland in a fantastic way the ability to see troop movements 300 km into Russian terrain still flying far away from the border is a fantastic thing, to be able to detect Russin air movements as far away as Moscow from Lethuanian airspace. For a nation like Jordan the entire state of Israel could be observed.

According to SAAB it should be able to detect a stealth aircraft from the same distance the older Erieeye radar could detect a 4th generation aircraft. SAAB has apparently worked hard at restoring the difference in detection range between a stealth and non-stealth aircraft.

AWACS extends radar coverage to areas that dont have it covers those you do from low flying targets seeking to avoid ground or sea radars and covers areas that have been attacked and destroyed. In attacking roles they fly with your strike team and give them early warning of a hostile force.

This plane has a GaN based E warfare suite that is very powerful. It can disturb enemy radars at a long distance the radar can of course be used for electronic attacks on an enemy radar if needed. Such an attack can destroy the radar on an enemy fighter.

Because a satellite can’t be deployed to any location at will to manage a battle. Assuming, of course, that a given government even HAS access to high-end surveillance satellites. Do you know how much energy it takes to change the orbit of a satellite?? Take a physics class, and you will. Meanwhile, a jet and a handful of crew members can be on station in a few hours...and jet fuel is cheap.

You can't use sattelites to detect the enemy's movements while also providing tracking information to your allied missiles/jets so shoot down the enemy.
