Leonardo’s Falco Xplorer UAV Makes First Flight - AIN

Ғылым және технология

The new Falco Xplorer tactical remotely piloted air system is the largest unmanned air vehicle built by the Leonardo group. On January 15 the aircraft made a long-awaited first flight in Italy. The Xplorer offers new medium-altitude, long endurance surveillance and reconnaissance capability for a variety of military and civil applications.
The Xplorer will be able to carry several sensors that will make it a very versatile surveillance platform. However, it will not carry weapons and so will not be subject to the restrictions associated with international traffic in arms rules. Its export prospects are further boosted by the fact that it does not include U.S-made technology and so will not be subject to Pentagon-imposed restrictions. It will be certified to fly in both controlled and uncontrolled airspace.

Sweet! I hope it is as good as they are thinking it will be. It is good to see competition. And to be a surveillance only platform will allow it a big market. From a business perspective this is good. However from a privacy position it is just another nail in the coffin of any resemblance of privacy anywhere.

You know you put enough of these in the sky 1 becouce they are cheaper to make and not maned, and it doesnt matter how fast your jet fighters are you will just be overwhelmed. fet fighters are on there arse. These are the future and pilots training will not have to be as intence. The world is chageing and so are the skys.

well! What Turkey has achieved with the drones in Syria has so far been achieved by no other country.

What's the point without missiles! Maybe just a start to sell! Nice though, at least it's all Italian, unlike some countries who need to buy enginees and parts from other countries!

It sure can, but selling a surveillance only drone is easier and more politically friendly than selling a rocket armed drone to foreign countries...

Because EURODRONE has like twice the performance and payload at least on paper. Plus the sensors they plan to put will be top notch. Personally I think EURODRONE will be a white 🐘 😂
