Saab 9-5 Detailing: Washing the Engine Bay - Trionic Seven

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This is how I clean and detail the engine bay in a 2007 Saab 9-5 2.0t Biopower Linear. I use petroleum- or alkaline-based degreaser depending on how much dirt I have to deal with. For maintenance cleaning I only use the alkaline-based degreaser.
Products used in this video: Blue & Green Degreaser Wet (petroleum-based), Meguiar's D108 Super Degreaser (alkaline), BBV Advance White Dressing, Kwazar Mercury Pro+ 1.0 liter Double-Action Trigger Sprayer.
The same procedure should apply to almost any car, however the precaution with covering the engine block apples to most direct-injected Saab gasoline engines, including the Saab 900, Saab 9000 and Saab 9-3.
Swedish: I denna film visar jag hur jag tvättar motorn i en Saab 9-5. Jag använder kallavfettning och alikalisk avfettning plus dressing.

good idea to check the rubber boots on the steering rack and drive shafts before spraying water under the hood. Good point about keeping water away from the DI cassette. You might also want to remove the throttle body cover and carefully clean that area, and I always remove the battery cover and thoroughly wash the battery and particularly below the battery.

Jag har egentligen två tips. 1. Det är intresserat att se allt vad du gör, men det blir lite långtråkigt att se hela processen. Det du skulle kunna göra är att snabbspola när du kör borste/spolar/applicerar medel. 2.

Great video as always. I love that your videos are for the "regular" Joe not the guys spending an hour shaving their windshields clean. Would it be that difficult to remove the DI cassette and clean it separately? It's a little frustrating the rest of the engine looks great but I keep focusing on the dirty DI cassette. I'd like to see that receive the same dressing as the other black plastic covers.

The easiest and safest way is to use WD40 to dissolve grease in the first step and to help repel water from electrical connectors. Then, use your steps as outlined. I also use WD40 instead of a dressing at the end and just wipe it down with a towel.

good job, looks very good .... but what about the waste water? please do not apply on plain ground . an oil separator at a professional washing area or gas station is necessary to keep the environment clean...one drop of oil can render up to 25 litres of water unfit for drinking!!! bra jobb , ser mycket bra .... men hur avloppsvattnet ? vänligen inte tillämpas på vanligt marken . en oljeavskiljare på en professionell tvätt område eller bensinstation är nödvändigt för att hålla miljön ren ... en droppe olja kan göra upp till 25 liter vatten olämpliga för att dricka !!!

Hi jonathan, I have a question I'd like to ask. Do you know how I can replace the connector that's located just in front of the engine? Because my connected has gotten old and brittle and the protective plastic surrounding the wiring has cracked and isn't doing a good job at protecting the wires. Here is the connector I'm referring to: imgur.com/tRybZgI

I’ve been blasting my Saab 9-5’s engine bay for over a decade. No issues. You really don’t need to baby them too much, just don’t be an idiot and blast water right into fuses or sensors. Saab actually designs their engines to withstand weather..... I can’t say the same thing for some other cheapo brands tho.

(You don't need to do all this non- sense.) Just get a pressure washer and blast every part of the engine besides the fuse box and sensors.I've done this for almost 10 years on my Saab 95 and never had any issues. If you have a heated one, even better. Use some engine degreaser after and blast/scrub it off again.Never had any issues, just don't be an idiot about it.

Trionic Seven lol, true, but I do this even in military trucks. Because we need to have engines very clean to see if there are any gasket leaks.

Step one of cleaning your engine is to cover your engine so it doesn’t get wet 😂

Purple Power and a cheap pressure washer works better and faster than this. No agitation necessary

I like to agitate with a brush rather than agitating with the high pressure.

+karl fincham There's a big difference in valeting a large number of cars and taking care of your own. This channel focuses on the latter.

There is a big difference i agree with that, but the word, "get a life"springs to mind, there is far more important things in life than spending too much unnecessary time just cleaning your car engine, that is unless you have nothing else to do, in which case may i offer my condolences and maybe suggest carrying out some voluntary work and putting your spare time to a real good use and helping others?im not taking the p*** with this post just my view, and who am i to judge.

+karl fincham Sorry, but it's not the purpose of my channel to be dictated on how I spend my time. I am providing this content for free without asking anything in return, and yes I do invest a significant portion of my free time producing content. Time that I instead could have spent with my family. Clearly this is not the right place for you, so I suggest you move on to other channels here on KZread.
