Got the exact same Merc 20hp EFI on mine and you are totally babying that thing. Let it rip tator chip, you are ready to go. I have never even got close to running out of gas but I think you are pushing a little more weight than me with your son. I only take one of my daughters and that is only about 120 at most. It is totally amazing how much mileage you can get out of the 20hp. My buddy has the 30hp and it seems like it uses twice as much. Great videos.

Thank you for the info on the skiff and wow from the causeway to San luis pass and back thats a great area to cover can't wait to see how you set up a trolling motor and fish finder on your skiff hopefully ill see you out there one day

Semper fi devil dog. Congrats on the new rig, thing is bad ass. They make a bottom paint called gator glide. It adds a bit of protection to the hull against oyster rash. Maybe provide a bit of peace and mind when you get her out in the shallow stuff.

50 miles, that definitely increases your range. The most I have ever covered in my kayak while fishing is 16 miles, but that was at a location where I could take advantage of tidal currents.

I would think the manufacturer has a graph of RPM-speed-MPG for your setup. My BW130 with 40Hp Mercury gets about 14 MPG at 1500 RPM (4 MPH) and 12 MPG at 4000 RPM (20 MPH). Definitely either idle or get up on a good plane, but not in between.

Go to West Marine, there are several Garmin hand held GPS so that you dont need a battery, you can use it to see how far you have traveled. Also mark routes andwaypoints. Recomend the Garmin 78sc only $279

Question: Are the laws there different from the boating laws in FL where PFD (life vest, safety vest, flotation cushion) are required for each person in the watercraft? I saw you wearing one but didn't see your son wearing one nor was there another in the skiff.

One floatation device is required to be onboard for every passenger.

How about drifting over 5- 10'+ flats at SLP for large flounder??

Change the oil after the breakin hours then put in fresh oil. Amsoil , makes a difference.

I know the skiff is stable but it's still a skiff, I saw that your wearing a pfd, why wasn't your coangler?

Mark why don't you attach your Hummingbird to your skiff just by the hardware of your existing setup and you can transfer it from kayak to skiff without purchasing another one, saves money if you're into that.

I’d assume they’re about 3-4 times heavier and have to be trailered rather than lifted up on a truck bed with an extender. Other than that, and a major cost difference, same general principle

I’ve never been on a solo so I honestly can’t say. But what I do know is that it’s faster, more stable, makes better use of deck space, has great storage options, and yes...way more expensive. But you get what you pay for with this micro.

10 MPH winds from the NE on lake Erie would be 2-3 foot waves. This boat would never be good for a great lake. On good days the Detroit river might work. Ok range for 6.5 gallons. I had a 16.5 Stabicraft fisher with a 90HP honda & it was getting approximately the same fuel economy this boat was getting. Had a 26 gallon tank & could go forever in it. I know I got over 200 miles on that tank of fuel.
