😂😂 my father and I have talked about this a few times. I'll just sum the two of us as a couple of aging, bitter guys that have learned to appreciate single life. I've joked many times during periods in a bad relationship that "my life would have been simpler if I had been born guy". Now I know that's not really true but the point I try making is it's not a "learned" habit. Believe if it was i would have dumped that bitch barbie for ken in a heartbeat. especially if he was a gamer, that shit would have been great! But that's just not how I'm built so I'll just end up being that crazy old cat dude down the block. I work with a girl that was sent to one of those Christian gay conversion camps... She was a very nice girl, and it's a little hard to pin down exactly what was wrong, but there were times where she just felt a little...off for lack of a better word. I really wish I knew how to explain it better but I'm absolutely sure of one thing, send a child to such a place has got to be child abuse. Seriously they are so scared of "the guy" they're perfectly willing to scramble their brains to prevent it? Come on, I may not be gay but I'll happily kiss another guy in front of those people just to piss them off. 😈Of all the stupid shit you have to worry about with your children, if THAT is the greatest danger to them, news flash you've already failed your job as a parent.

But in 2024 I live in a state that I'm pretty sure still has sundown towns, which are places where non-whites are not welcome. Ya I don't get their logic at all. I've been a management job in both retail and restaurants. If I've learned anything it's that there's one universal truth to any service industry. every sale, big or small, is important. I sometimes need to know certain things about them simply to help get them the correct assistance, but beyond that I DO NOT CARE! Money is the entire reason we're there to begin with, why would willingly turn down a sale for any reason other than it's bad for my business (for example if I know the customer is definitely going to be unhappy). It's much harder to keep the doors open when the people working there see the customers happiness as anything less than most important. I've seen time and again, once a business gets "comfortable" losing those customers, saying they don't need their business, at that point it's usually just a matter of time before they're gone. I've worked for 5 places where those attitudes were common and none of them exist anymore. I'm not talking mom and pop places, they were mass national (if not international) companies with 100s of locations at one point. So, ya every sale matters. if a bearded dude in a tutu shows up, as long as he's not carrying a 8 in bowie knife, I'll sell him anything he wants, if it happens to be chilly out I might even offer to show him where we display tights (hay it's a good up sale opportunity. A couple guys or ladies kissing, that's an opportunity to pitch printing services, get a coffee cup selfie 😁.

I'm 5'5' and the man didn't even like me much so I'm not sure how I made it past the hiring interview. One might assume it was based on skills accepted he absolutely refuses to let me work the departments I had the skills in. I went from customer service to infield lead. I'm pretty sure that was because the assistant manager liked me and he had 85% of the store under him and needed help because I was giving virtual the same security authority as him (which was way over my job title, i could have done some scare shit) and give free rain over half the store. Basically everything but TV's, laptops, and stereos, and direct authority of around 35 people. I can be objective about myself, The only thing that kept my head above water was many years of big box retail experience. I got written up constantly. Ignoring the stupidity of my strange promotion. If you stood back and just people watching it was like some bad 90s sitcom about frat house life. Even the employees kind of all looked the same based on 3 basic body archetypes. I drove my GM absolutely nuts and I think it was at least 40% strictly due to NOT fit one of his chosen elite categories. I was a short computer nerd that was bad with people, good with customers, and unwilling to give an inch to someone 2' taller yet had a strict policy of clearing the way for some stealing an Xbox because Microsoft has never been good enough to die for. Looking back two things are very obvious, I spent almost 2 years feeling like Alice in wonderland fighting Sargent stereotype and the other is no wonder that company completely failed. Get a group of frat boys to gather and trust me, unless it's Beer Pong, you can get them to do shit.

I was just at a poetry circle yesterday talking about how things have changed and not changed over the years, and one lady mentioned how you don't have to go very far to experience very different views on race or LQBTQ. Some pockets of society are very inclusive, and some still let you know that while they might not completely discriminate against you, they are not ok with who you are as a person. I will never understand why we hate people whose only "crime" is being different. Isn't variety the spice of life?

For those who don't know, the baker got his appeal heard by the Supreme Court (Masterpiece Cakeshop, Ltd. v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission), who ended up siding with him. Here's an excerpt from the Oyez summary: "At the time, the State Civil Rights Division had also concluded in at least three other cases that bakers had acted lawfully in declining to make cakes that included messages they disagreed with, specifically messages demeaning gay persons. Thus it was not unreasonable for Phillips to believe that he was acting lawfully at the time, and his claims before the Commission were entitled to neutral treatment. "However, the Court stated that Phillips did not receive this neutral treatment, with members of the Commission showing clear and impermissible hostility toward his religious beliefs. The Court explained that commissioners' comments disparaging Phillips' beliefs and characterizing them as rhetorical were inappropriate, though these comments were not mentioned or disavowed in subsequent legal proceedings. The Court concluded that these comments cast doubt on the fairness of the Commission's consideration of Phillips' claims. The Court also pointed out that disparities between Phillips' case and those of other bakers with objections to making cakes with anti-gay messages, and who were victorious before the Commission, further reflected hostility toward the religious basis for Phillips' position."
