In this episode I finish off the toilet and shower in the van, I show how it works and also show you the completed waterproof shower door. I preview the Dometic sink and gas cooktop showing the ins and outs of these items.
The gas piping was installed and hooked up by a professional gas contractor. I run through how the instantaneous hot water system works, and also how the outdoor BBQ area operates.
The van has an external gas bayonet point underneath the gas box, where I plug my Baby Q Weber into when I have a BBQ outside. The van doors can swing 270 degrees if there is too much wind or smoke.
I've had a lot of questions about the weight of the van, especially since installing the cabinetry. People have been worried it will be overweight, but this van has dual rear wheels which allows it a higher weight limit.
WEIGHT
The total GVM (Gross Vehicle Mass) allowed is 4.5T. After Episode 10 the van GVM weighed 3.16T, and after Episode 11 the van GVM weighed 3.34T. This means I have 1.16T of weight that I am legally allowed to add to the van.
These weights include me sitting in the front drivers seat and a full 110L tank of fresh water on board. So the cabinetry roughly added around 180KG - 220KG.

    Super glad to have finished the plumbing and gas, it's very convenient to plumb your taps and shower into a permanent tank instead of removable water bottles. We have used the BBQ out the back to cook roasts, bake cakes, brownies and even make pizzas! I would recommend using gas, in my opinion it is the most efficient and economical way to cook and heat. Ive watched so many van builds and your van exceeds in every aspect of a van conversion to a very high standard as im looking to build one for road trips in Australia an figuring out how to set it up for a family of 4 with 2 extra seats that folds with seat belts. And a toilet an shower and enough power to supply family needs. actually 2 32 inch TVs for the kids and adults. And beds to suit 4 people which we're still thinking might be fold up bunks above the main bed. Guess storage might be a sacrifice. BUT the detail an inspiration you post shows anything is possible within the law of Australian camper vans. THANKS TRAV FOR ALL YOUR STEP BY STEP VAN BUILD

    Great van bro, have been watching from the beginning and it's so nice to see it has come together. One thought, you should get a small plastic container that fits into your hole in the back food prep area, so food or scraps or whatever can be stored there and prevent a hole in the board. Just a little hack that might help you down the track! Enjoy your travels :)

    I must be subscribed to 10 van build channels and this one is by far the best. Truly superior and its been worth the wait.. I also just wanted to mention that RO systems "waste" a considerable amount of water when making pure water. You may be surprised how fast you go through your on board water and wonder why. Depending on the model, you may use 4 gallons of tap water to make 1 gallon of pure water. Also you may want to install a J or S channel molding at the very bottom of the shower door so water doesn't collect in the seam.

  • @JaznLori

    @JaznLori

    6 жыл бұрын

    Thanks mate that really means a lot! I definitely had that problem and I was going "where is all my water going" so I tested it and for every liter of filtered water it produces it wasted 2 liters so it was 1:3. I ended up bypassing the RO filter so it just filters through everything else. On the bottom of the shower door is a rubber seal that seals hard to the hump when door is closed. Thanks for all your support and following along I really appreciate!

    Good golly! I'm enamored with this series! I hope you do another project or something because I'm gonna be heartbroken when I finish watching your van build. Another thing, when I watch, I write down questions I as I come up with them, but by the end of the video, usually you're so thorough that at some point you answered them all! (Except I didn't catch what those flexible door handles were in the back.) Huge fan of your van's open design, allowing walkthrough, while most Sprinter builds stick a 'garage' in the back.

    Jaz, first, you are a true craftsman, borderline on artistic buy way of seeing opportunities to make things better as you move forward and being able to adapt. I have learned more from your videos than all the others I have watched combined. I just got my new Sprinter this weekend and after watching this, I realize how far I have to go. You will go far in life because you have passion for doing things right. I suspect there is a bit of engineer in you. I will be copying much of what you have done with some changes due to the fact that I am heading north to the Arctic. All the little tips, especially the little trick with hole saw cutout to trace curves, were brilliant! I was a bit surprised because when I think of RO, I think salt water to fresh. But now I get it. In any event, thank you for taking all the time and effort to help the rest of us out. Enjoy your travels friend, you will do well.

    Awesome Jaz, nicely thought out nicely executed, look forward to all the updates as you travel mate...feeling excited for you, not many sleeps now... Hey just had a thought maybe a future add be an auto levelling system for the van, many camper trailers are putting them in. Considering one for our camper...not cheap but not grossly expensive either...maybe future thought...but makes a good night sleep😀

    Great work, loving your channel Jaz! Just a tip you might want to re-do your chopping board with a foodgrade non toxic sealer like beeswax or coconut oil not danish oil.

    In my opinion, I think you should move that fire extinguisher. If there is a fire, swinging around the fire itself to try and unattached that and grab it out. Seems like you might get burned from doing that.
