[S1 - Eps. 79] CROSSING INTO KYRGYZSTAN

Want to know what gear & equipment I use? www.itchyboots.com/bikers-gui...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This was by far the hardest day on this journey. The icy cold wind and the altitude made me gasp for air. It was a difficult part of off-roading and I still can't believe I didn't drop Basanti. Did come close a few times!
But I made it safe and sound to my next country: Kyrgyzstan!

One of my favorite things about your videos is seeing the warmth in humankind throughout the world. When I first started watching I thought, "wow... I can't believe this woman is doing this on her own." But now I watch and I see that you're not actually alone... when you need something, there is always someone eager to help you. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences with us!

Hi Nickie, I've been riding solo for 44 years, literally all over North America, and no matter where I go there are always someone to give you a hand. I think it's in our DNA, even though some seem to repress it. I believe a stranger is a friend you haven't met yet. Stay safe out there.

@@ubayyd Inspiring yes but I would NEVER do that, she is insanely brave! I had anxiety watching her stall in the mud the very first thing. If she got stuck somewhere, how would she survive? She would freeze to death since there is very few people there to rescue her. This is extreme! I love seeing the culture there, have seen some documentaries about the area but never from a young lady's solo adventure. It looks miserable, why do people stay there? I watched a documentary that they had to bury their dead by chopping them up and throwing the boy pieces to the vultures. What do people eat there, they can't grow a garden or have any animals other than Yak I suppose? Also, I noticed that Itchy Boots was freezing and the natives were walking around in t-shirts, amazing! I would love to learn more about their culture and will do some research, Itchy Boots has sparked my interest!

I laughed. I cursed. I cried. I uttered many expletives. I'm ruined now. The altitude. The cold. The mud. The ice wind. That sudden loss of traction and balance. But you made it! Never in my life have I been so happy to see someone in a KZread video reach a paved road and a small amount of civilization.

That was probably one of the most nerve wracking videos ever. I was so worried that you would end up bogged down and stuck in the mud on top of that mountain. You are one tough lady and Basanti is one tough little bike. Hope you end up getting some sponsorship from Royal Enfield as your adventures are proving to be priceless marketing for the Himalayan motorcycle brand.

I’ve been riding for over 50 years and was fortunate to get to ride during my law enforcement career. My wife rode her own motorcycle for awhile but now she rides with me. We live in Texas and tour the USA. I am now retired and want you to know you have motivated us to keep riding. My wife, Carol, is excited about buying your merchandise when it becomes available! Stay safe and God bless!

That is so touching and heart-warming. All these so generous people around the world keep our hope in Humankind alive. Thank you all of you who have helped Noraly to make her dream come true.... the ones who gave shelter, prepared food, and showed direction along the roads, help her to keep going through in very harsh environments/terrains, and the ones which kept cheering her up, by showing so much appreciation, respect, and affection. I will never forget the children and grown-ups waiving to her throughout her journeys. At 10000 feet, normally aspirated engines have some 75% power due to lower pressure. So take maybe two thirds of the 24hp of your bike, and you know what power to drag you through that mud was left. That little engine held up stunningly well! The wonderful kindness of the border officials is heart warming, as is yours!

I've seen all of your videos from both seasons and the ones in the Netherlands, but I keep coming back to watch this one again. It's my favourit and the most impressive of them all. I did some long motorcycling trips myself in the 1990's, I know how it feels to ride through rough terrains, through cold wind that leaves you in the virge of frostbyte, but even so, in my trips I have never had such an ordeal like this. The wind so cold, the road so muddy, the slippery snow, the high altitude... I'm really impressed. Every time I watch this video I feel like I'm driving the moto myself, feel every bump, every slip of the rear tire, the wind blowing so cold and strong trying to knock you down, Basanti engine struggling, running in first gear, then the music so special, so well chosen that helps to make the crossing of NOMANSLAND the most epic moment of all of your videos and possible the best part of a video in all youtube. I'm just sorry you didn't point the camera to Basanti to see how muddy it was, and also your trousers and boots for sure. You're much, much, much more than just a girl, Noraly.

Watching her come down that mountain really made my heart hurt for her... As a rider, I cannot tell you how scary that must really be... If she gets stuck... if she drops it...she's in trouble. She's got no strength at that altitude and it would have become a desperate situation pretty quickly. Help is nowhere close and won't be able to come anytime real soon if something should happen... It would have been sheer panic all the way down for sure, probably for anyone. I have the highest amount of respect for her as a human being for being brave not just this time, but every time. Although you showed inexperience in the way you ride occasionally - you have excellent natural balance - I'm sure I would have crashed a few times! And you're very brave tackling riding like this alone - hats off to you.

This was harrowing to watch! We your audience come to think of you more like a sister or daughter or granddaughter, and so to see you struggling through the ice and mud (that I've been in too but not by choice, just like you) makes hearts beat a bit faster. Your obvious love for people and animals is heartwarming and an example for us all to follow.

OMG! That road with ice frozen mud and the icy wind to top it all up, I was concerned just by watching the video and when you lost your balance once, I just inadvertently screamed, but thank all the Gods of the Multiverse, you miracolously didn't fall. This is the best training to keep focused and cool at the same time. Ninja motorcycling!!! 😊😁👍💖☺️🤗🙏👌😀👏

Mud is slippery. Ice is slippery. Icey mud is TREACHEROUS. Good job getting through that. Bet a warm bath felt so good to you. Basanti would probably love a warm bath too. Am very impressed with Basanti. She is a formidable motorbike. Shows good for Royal Enfield India.

You can see the evolution between season 1 and 2 just in gear, bike set up. That 1st trip showed how important having the right gear is. Also hard luggage is heavy, your Mosko set up in season 2 /3 is the way to go. Changed my mind on my future set up. I learned so much just by watching your adventure. Thanks Noraly, we love you, stay safe out there 😘

That's kind of a thoughtless suggestion. I'm sure she has her own timeframe and reasons for it. Your suggestion would make the cost of the trip and the length of the trip two or three times as much.

Read your book and parallel watch the episodes again…….the videos never showed the deprivations you experienced……already had lot of respect for you and now even more……… it is actually weird reading and watching your freezing days while being in tropics myself; but i can imagine and your stories bring me back to my younger years living in Netherlands and riding my bikes in various weatherconditions……freezing hands and toes; so gllad that now here in Thailand it is something i not feel anymore. Look forward to season 8…… somewhere in Asia……..
