S06E04 Inverhuron Provincial Park Review

We headed back to Inverhuron Provincial Park for the May two-four weekend, with a big gathering of our friends. We reviewed this park in 2019 and it was long overdue for an update. The water level of Lake Huron is down, making for a huge sandy beach, like we remember from the old days. Come and join us as we check out everything that Inverhuron Provincial Park has to offer.

    Cell Phone Service: Bell, Telus, Koodo & Virgin Mobile - cell service was poor. Lots of buffering and limited connection. Sometimes texting doesn't work. Very unreliable. If you've been to this park please let us know your experience with cell service, especially if your with a service provider different from the ones mentioned.

    I get what you're saying but it would be nearly impossible to do. We would have to look at and assess every site in the park which we don't have time to do. Also, whether a site is good or bad is very much a personal opinion. Everyone looks for different things in an ideal site. We'd probably tick off a lot of people too, by making those sites harder to get in the future. I get where you're coming from but I don't think we'll be incorporating it into the videos. Thanks for the suggestion. Many of the things we show in our videos are as a result of viewers like you offering suggestions.

    We have been to Inverhuron the last 7 years. Holmes Bay has amazing sites that are large and private. The beach has been as small as 10’ to the water to the point they’ve had to redirect traffic from the boardwalks. I’m amazed to see the beach as you’ve presented here. I’ve never seen it like this before. Looking forward to our trip in August when Huron has warmed up. Thanks for sharing.

    Luv the video, Inverhuron is my all time favorite park, simply because it was the first provincial park that I ever camped in, I cut my camping teeth at barely 1 yr old. To see the park now and what it was back in the late 1960s. I used to snowshoe the closed park in the winter months . Walking up and down the old overgrown roads seeing the old abandoned campsites, picnic tables and fire place grates getting overgrown. And now the rebirth of the park into a big rig park is awesome. If your ambitious, you can bike up to MacGregor provincial park on road 33, round trip is about 45 km. Not a very busy road. I kayaked up the channel past the rainbow bridge several years ago when the water was much higher, got about half way in then water got too shallow. The trail from Holmes bay past the cottages back to the office was called the scenic drive, you could actually drive a car on that road which is now a multi use trail. Still my favorite park and always will be.

    If you're looking to do something that is outside the park, I highly recommend you take your bicycles up to Port Elgin (a lovely little town itself worthy of exploring) and go to the Port Elgin main beach...lots of free parking. From there is a beautiful 7 km bicycle path to Southampton along the shore of Lake Huron. About a 20-25 minute mostly flat ride and there are plenty of pubs, restaurants, and a brewery as a reward for your pedal. Walker house has a beautiful outdoor garden and amazing food...can't say enough!! Really love the drive to get to the park. For us it takes us through what must be some of Ontarios best farm country and it's a very relaxing drive on mostly secondary roads (all good) with lots of great scenery along the way. Thanks for the great reviews, they really give you a good heads up for the things that most campers like to know about in advance.

    Thanks for your videos. Just got into camping with a truck tent and my 2024 F150 with the Pro Power onboard (does your Ford have this? The 7.3 kwh option can power a 30 amp trailer). Anyway, I stumbled on your videos while trying to decide what parks to try out first. Did Earle Rowe last weekend and had a blast even with the rain. Balsam Lake and Sibbalt point are my next bookings. Then might go further North. Have you guys done Kap Kig Iwan? Looks like a super nice park.

    You have the truck of my dreams! No more worries about getting an electrical site when you have a 7.3 kwh generator built into your truck. Our truck is a 2016, well before they came out with the electric/gas hybrid with the built in generator. Our KZread channel is going to have to get a lot bigger before I can afford to get a new truck.😊 We haven't been to Kap Kig Iwan yet. Probably a place will look at next year.

    Inverhuron is a great park! We've been going there for years. I like that its quiet, not once have we had problems with any roudy or inconsiderate people. Everyone has always been do friendly and nice. I will be completely honest they have the cleanest comfort stations of any campground I have been to. If we had to choose between Inverhuron and any other park we would always choose Inverhuron. We easily rate it a 9 even 9.5 out of 10.

    Can I ask why you use waterfilter when filling your fresh tank.

  • @CampingwiththeColes

    @CampingwiththeColes

    9 сағат бұрын

    @@derekknight4214 I guess it's being overly cautious. Ontario Provincial Parks usually source their water from the municipal water in the area so it's perfectly safe for drinking. That's not always the case with private parks, state parks etc. We filter all the water going into our trailer to keep the plumbing system clean. We still don't usually drink that water, for drinking water we bring a 5 gallon jug from home. We use the trailer water for cooking, coffee, cleaning, showing etc. I know I can drink it if need be. Basically it's just to ensure a clean plumbing system.
