S06E07 Ferris Provincial Park Review

We went to Ferris Provincial Park from June 19th to the 22nd, 2024. It's a small park of 163 campsites with the Trent River running along side it. We camped, hiked, biked and paddled in the park. We check out all the amenities including a waterfall and a suspension bridge. We checked out the town of Campbellford where many suggested some must-do places to visit. We visited @WorldsFinestChoc1, Dooher's Bakery, Empire Cheese & Butter Co-op and the Giant Toonie.
🍺 Buy me a beer: buymeacoffee.com/campingwtcoles and for $5 we will send you a Camping with the Coles fridge magnet and sticker set.

Cell Phone Service: Bell, Telus, Koodo & Virgin Mobile - cell service was poor. Lots of buffering and sometimes hours with no service at all. Other times we could watch a video. Very unreliable. If you've been to this park, please let us know your experience with cell service, especially if your with a service provider different from the ones mentioned.

@@CampingwiththeColes I have a plan with Bell and I find that connectivity at provincial parks is not great. I used to be with Fido who uses the Rogers network and the connectivity was usually better than my wife gets with Telus (Koodo), so I’m going to go back to a carrier that uses the Rogers network.

Driving the 407 is definitely worth the cost! Toronto is a zoo to drive through. The drive to Lake St. Peter PP was much less stressful and not near as long as it would have been had we done the 401. The highway is in great shape from end to end. We will definitely be going the 407 when we go to Bon Echo this week.

I looked into trailering on 407 - problem is at or above 12000 lbs combined GVWR you are considered a "multi-vehicle" (so different - higher - rates) and by law you must have a transponder. We decided to suffer through 401 woes instead.

Great review of the park. We've been there a couple of times. There are LOTS of tickets there! Hubby had to go to the hospital because of one. We noticed that you didn't go see the lock when you cross the suspension bridge. If you had walked just a bit further and around a corner, (honestly, like 200 to 300 metres?) you could have visited the lock. It's really big! You'll have to go next time!

Also, the locks and falls further up the river are very interesting to visit too. Happy Anniversary! Oh, and at Presqu’Ile, visit the Calf Pasture to put in your kayak and paddle board. Thanks for the suggestion. I had a look at the online calculator and because my combination weighs over 5000kg I would have to pay the highest rate and have to have a transponder. Am I missing something? In practice do they actually rate it at a lower rate because it's an RV situation. I can't imagine paying the same rate as a tractor-trailer.
