Not all dialogues in this video have been translated. For NPCs, the content of conversations changes depending on the rank. Novices cheerfully share plans for life, can tell about some adventures and tell jokes badly, and they are often asked to stop joking. Veterans, on the contrary, are depressed, and complain about life all the time. And this applies not only to singles, but to all factions.

@@LordVader1094 Each faction has its own small set of original jokes and a lot of retold ones. It turns out to be the effect of a damaged phone. Sometimes a joke is retold in such a way that all meaning is lost. For example, Svoboda’s original joke about bricks and zombies, but the soldiers of Duty retell it not funny. Completely original jokes are not retold by other factions. For example, a joke by bandits about bloodsuckers on the side of the road. Or the military about the new colonel in the unit.

Well, actually, this thing is only unique to Shadow of Chernobyl. Stalker novices there are technically unique class of characters - that's why they have completely different voice set. Now consider that you may die multiple times in the same location, in the same way, but with ever so slight nuances, and now you realize that would mean there's probably an infinite number of multiverses. 2:03 befriended a stalker same as him in the Cordon today. His name is Guest. I was coming from Garbage dealing with some bandits as part of my job. At the checkpoint I found this guy and he told me exactly the same thing that the army assholes took most of his money and his loot so we agreed to tag along till we reach rookie village. But obviously we had to pass thru the army guys. We took position at the left side of the bridge and attacked them. After quite some time of firefight they all were killed. We looted their bodies and reached the village without any hiccups. It was like midnight so I said my goodbyes to him and went to sleep. He isn't around at the village anymore so my guess is he left early in the morning or maybe during the nighttime as their was adequate moonlight to light the road. Hope I get to meet him again. Stay safe Guest.

I can't tell you how much I wish they would have added subtitles for these conversations. I can forgive it in SoC, but by CoP they really should have added something in that direction. Took me awhile to ignore that I had no idea what most people around me were talking about- which of course meant ignoring the ambient conversations altogether. I know making a mod for this would be a uniquely annoying task, but honestly even semi-accurate subs would be preferable to none at all. I have to imagine the lack of any ambient closed captions would dampen the experience someone with a hearing impairment would have with the game also.

  • @worldoftancraft

How accurate you want them? With such features like "it's being liked by me" instead of English's "I like it"? Or with specific feature of Russian, omitting of the verb "be" in present time? Mostly just kidding.

@@worldoftancraft Either way would be fine tbh. Obviously the more accurate the translation (meaning translated to make sense I English as opposed to verbatim translation of each word out of context), but even subtitles that are totally wrong a quarter of the time would be preferable to nothing at all

the only thing that doesent make any sence about "free stalkers" is that they are called "free stalkers" we know they are not free, they work for certain traders and other "popular" individuals in the zone, but I also understand that calling them mercenaries would be confusing.
