I remember playing Stalker one time, I was trying out Anomaly and choose to be a Loner. Despite being a Loner I had good relations with Freedom and I found myself wandering around the Army Warehouses often, mostly helping out the boys on the barrier and cleaning the place of monolith troops. There was a Stalker from Freedom called Artyom Bishop, he was a run of the mill Stalker, I made a few missions for him sometimes and I always saw him wandering around with his buddies on the Freedom base. One day as I was doing my daily routine, looking for monolith patrols and whatnot I saw a skirmish between Monolith and Freedom. Monolith had the upper hand and I was too far to make it in time, I killed the Monolith troops and began to loot the bodies, and then I noticed that one of the Freedomers was Artyom. Man was I sad. I ended up taking his patch and carrying it with me everywhere... But such is life in the Zone.

Just recently been playing Call of Chernobyl as Freedomer. Took 2 other Freedomers along, as I was heading towards CNPP. We've been through Warehouses, Red Forest, and Jupiter. Before heading towards the reactor, I've decided to stop by the sawmill to hunt down some zombies for loot. Sadly, many of those brain-scorched ones had pretty powerful shotguns (thank you, Arsenar Overhaul), and, that's where the boys met their demise. I successfully led a group of 3 to the Radar, to hunt down the oncoming Monolith attack, but failed to protect these two boys from damn zombies... May the Zone have mercy upon their souls.

when i was playing SoC I returned back to the starting area late game. I got the mission to protect the rookie village from the oncoming hoards of the military. I decided I would go out alone and take care of them so there'd be no unnecessary casualties, and I found the group of them near the bridge where those four stalkers usually hang out. Three of those four stalkers died fighting to protect the rookies in that village, and only one survived. I slav squatted near him as he played this song for his three fallen comrades.

I couldn't save him, and it would be pointless for both of us to die. So I left him there. I turned my back and let him die, while he screamed in agony. Then the Whirligig discharged, and just like that, Pulya was no more, and I was showered in his innards. There was blood and viscera everywhere - it was surreal. I just froze there for a moment, shocked and morbidly amazed that anything could destroy a person so thoroughly. Anything that wasn't man-made, anyway. There wasn't even a body I could drag to camp to bury - just red paste sprayed all over the dead grass, and all over me. I'm pretty sure I'll never be the same after that. The Zone leaves it's mark on you - both physically and psychologically. Just as I'll never be rid of the scars, I'll never be able to forget breathing in the fine red mist that was once my friend. So, let's have a drink. On Pulya. And this cruel, cold bitch we call the Zone."

I started my story as a Loner. I did a few missions with a guy called Vanya. He was inexperienced, 14 days in and he was killed by a bunch of bandits near the bridge at Cordon. That made me join Duty. On my first mission to Army warehouses a fellow Dutyer jumped out of nowhere. Captain Koev was a Hardened Master of the zone. Even on the top 100 stalkers. A month would go by and we would do a lot of missions together. We teamed up with other dutyers to tackle most of them. One fateful november day we were sent to recover a PDA from the Red Forest. at 12 PM 5 of us left the base for the red forest. I, Cpt. Koev , Jr. Sgt. Boiko, Sgt. Vorontsov and Msgt. Khaladze. We found ourselves harassed constantly by monolithians from the right and the mercs from the left. By the time we got to the gates, only 2 of us were left. We had a shitton of monolithians chasing us. We could not run the strech without being gunned down, so we decided to hunker down and defend. Droves of them came and we fought them off till the last drop of blood. The Captain used his machine gun while I used a sniper to cover him, Since my assault rifle was out of ammo. We kept fighting them off and that's when I saw a grenade land near my feet. It blew, and I was forced to take cover to lick my wounds. When I Looked back I saw the Captain, Lay there dead among the bodies. I took his patch and counted the monolith bodies. There were 13 of them. I kept the patch and put it in a stash where I kept the patches of all my fallen comrades. Months passed and I would later take these patches to the great swamps after I left Duty to join Clear sky. To Our fallen comrades, They were the BEST Stalkers.

Two days ago my father died, probably on heart attack. In 2 months he should 50 years old. He really enjoyed playing in STALKER series, especially in Clear Sky and Call of Pripiat. The Zone, you heard stories about it growing up. A place with no rules, no laws, no parents. In your 20's you left home and went to the zone to rebel against society. Months and years went by for everyone else, but not you. Everyday was the same yet so different, life in the zone was hard. You fought just to see the next day, everyday. But you eventually left. Every Stalker does, they leave the zone either by the zone taking them or them leaving the zone themselves. Its been decades since you left the zone, you haven't told anyone about your time there in fear they would think your still a Scavenger, a Trespasser, an Adventurer, a Loner, a Killer, an Explorer, a Robber. A Stalker. But that was a lifetime ago. But even in your old age, you remember everything. Your friends, your comrades, the mutants, the constant firefights with bandits. You remember the campfires and guitar songs that you even learned to play. Stalkers might leave the Zone, but the Zone will always call them back. So, Stalker. Lets have a drink and smoke for the ones that never left the zone. Those are the real stalkers. I miss you Cicero, you were a good Stalker.

The Zone is like a babushka. She might be so harsh on you to the point she might wants to kill you .And when she's gone, you can't help but to miss her so deeply for all the times you spend with her
I started my story as a Loner.

I love how the comments here are either sombre yet appreciative and bittersweet while recalling the past. It's almost as if we are all around a slowly-dying campfire with someone playing the guitar.
After a long time spend in The Zone, you finally come back home But it doesn't feel like home anymore The once entertaining sound of city life now makes you irritated Your job which provides you secure and pleasurable life are now nothing but torture Your 'friends' are nothing but some greedy careerist Your food, the one where you always enjoy, now only enough to sate your hunger Your once comforting bed now feels like a stone table,so cold and hard Every night, you always tried to sleep,to get ready for your routine as one of the mllions of soulless cogs Every night, your mind wandered to one place, somewhere so close yet so far Without you realizing you smiled as you drifted off to sleep Only to wake up again by the sound of barking dogs and familiar staccato of gunfire You sighed from behind your mask, realizing it's all just a cruel nightmare Because, when someone has come to the Zone, they always belongs to the Zone Until at last, they will become Lost to the Zone

Yes, the first comment I find paying condolences to the loss on both sides; The russians get so much hate
RIP Loki
For anyone looking at the comments section in more chrrent times, it's with great sadness that I report the death of Volodymr Yezhov, also known as the stalker named Loki, who was killed in action during heavy fighting near Bakmuht on or around December 23rd, 2022. Yanov Station won't be the same without you, old friend. Rest in peace.

I grew up, Autumn Aurora and Misery mods were released and my dad was back into the Zone, I began to listen to the tracks that I heard in the Zvadovsk. Today, I'm 18, and I find myself re-descovering the same franchise that my dad used to play. The world of S.T.A.L.K.E.R fueled my imagination as a young boy, and still surprises me today. Thx dad.

-getting ammo and food from a trader, all of a sudden you hear a commotion outside -you run out and start helping out a group of stalkers on their way to camp, who are being attacked by wildlife -only one of them survives even though you did your best -back at camp, the lone stalker sits down by the fire place, and then he starts playing this ... damn... RNG can be amazing

"I watched my life fall apart. although it wasn't much when i was alive, i still remember when i went to find my brother, it was just as cold as today, i didnt think i would last much longer, but i had to try. I had to for my sake. I arrived at the station of Pripyat, it was empty, scorched from the beings that walked here, i went inside, you could really smell the blood in the air, there were bodies and bodies of people but i kept going, going and going until i arrived. Until i arrived to my brother, he was dead, The zone took him. I cried and cried, but nothing mattered anymore. And today i'm sitting here in a camp remembering the good times we had. -In memory of my good brother and friend Ygor, goodbye brother, rest well. "
