Sérgio Assad Composed Me A Piece!

Tupi Guarani Tales is a wonderful and intriguing new composition that Sérgio Assad wrote for my South American album 'Open Sky.' This piece is inspired by the Tupi-Guarani peoples from Brazil and is a musically fascinating work, where the bottom string is tuned down a semitone to E flat, adding some vivid, picturesque harmonies.
I recorded this video in September before my concert at the Saint Charles Church in Sedan, France. If you are interested in learning this piece, it will soon be available on a great new learning platform called Guitar By Masters. There you can already find some other pieces by Sérgio that I have recorded!

Dear Stephanie! You are a great story teller! If people knew a little more about the conception of this piece they would understand what I meant by story teller. This piece is a homage to the Tupi Guarany indigenous people from Brazil and describes through 3 contrasting sections their creation myth. It opens with an ethereal atmosphere that will introduce the supreme God Tupa. A second section called Primordial Garden, quite lyrical, describes these people and their perfect world. A third and final section is a reference to their rituals as they practiced animistic pantheism and cannibalism. So, besides your amazing technical skills you can communicate though music these abstract fantasies. Congratulations!

Uma peça lindíssima de Sérgio Assad, pelas mãos de uma violonista primorosa como Stephanie Jones. O Brasil capaz de produzir um Assad passa por um momento difícil e os povos indígenas, particularmente, têm resistido como possível à pandemia. Está peça se realiza em um momento bastante oportuno. Parabéns!

For me, Stephanie is the most expressive and precise player of the modern age. I grew up listening to the late Julian Bream, my original guitar hero, and Stephanie is the closest to him that I've heard. A wonderful interpreter of music and an exquisite player.

Stephanie is indeed among the greatest who have ever lived. When the composer composes a piece for the performer then takes the time to congratulate the performer, especially when he is a master among masters, we know that Stephanie is a virtuoso of the highest order, far beyond even objective criticism.
Stephanie Jones has magnificently performed the beautiful piece of the great composer Sérgio Assad. Bravo.

I'm not adept at picking up "story" in music, but this guitar composition is the most unusual and intriguing one that I've ever heard - kudos to Mr. Assad for that. Stephanie, your fretwork is amazing. Adding this track to my playlist of favorite individual music tracks.
OK, so, I play the guitar. Then I sit and listen amazed to this masterpiece of composition and performance, with it being no more attainable to me than if I had never picked up the instrument, but only too aware of the prowess involved. Brava.

this Is an intriguing piece, complex and overall great, and also difficult. It also resembles in some parts a guitar ensemble. And regarding the performer, well it's obvious by now how accomplished her technique is, it's just outstanding.
