Listening to this makes me recall a distant dream I once had before becoming a classical lover. In it, a melody so beautiful and emotionally draining, dawned and filled the entire dream space. To put it in metaphor, the music sounded to me like someone who’d finally found salvation and inner peace, after a lifetime of trial and tribulation. It moved me to the point that I started contemplating the notion of fate - IN MY DREAM STATE. Waking up, refusing to let go of that melody I searched my brain for when and where I might’ve heard it. No clue. I was determined to embarked on a painstaking week-long non-stop musical journey going through every classical piece I could get my hands on.. and finally, I heard it - it was the last 2 minute segment to the 2nd movement of Rachmaninov’s piano concerto #2. Why this particular passage? I’ve no idea. It wasn’t like I was already familiar with and fond of it before dreaming it. But somehow my brain had extracted and stored it from my possible memory upon hearing it somewhere, and played it back to me after I thought I’ve forgotten about it. And the rest is history. That dream might’ve been why I’m where I am today. Anyways.. those Georgian songs are charming. Do you have their names?

for sure. kissin is also great with this rach2 concerto but Vyacheslav deserved to be similiarly famous as kissin

Very enjoyable performance, thanks for sharing, hearing this concerto is always a treat. Could you explain why people applaud at a specific tune at the end when you are playing the Georgian songs ? Do they mean something in particular ?

Congratulations sir ,you are a remarkable pianist ,clear notes , and very nice technique ,the orchestra though not so good it seemed that the orchestra played for first time not you

Gryaznov was his usual elegant, graceful, and powerful self; what a pity that the Tibilisi orchestra was not up to his skills. The wind section and the strings in particular were wretched. Student orchestras in the US sound better than this orchestra. The shame was made more evident by the bad recording technique. Gryaznov and his encores saved the day.

Gryaznov was extremely well prepared, he knows this concerto to last note, rhytm, phrasing, even orchestra parts, he knew when to join at right moment

тот самый случай, когда аккомпаниатор гениальнее солиста раз в сто. Какое похабное ritenuto в кульминации @7.55!

Не надо ругаться. Вот валторна, действительно, похоже, только недавно спустился с гор. Но ведь, может, у человека грипп начинается. Я вот, старый, на адажио просто разомлел.

Валторна фальшивит..Я думала это только в Самаре так играют.

The best soloist, the worst orchestra! He should perform with big orchestras in Moscow, or his talent would get wasted.
