S.P.I.D.E.R. military radio
This radio was used by the Dutch special forces. IS.P.I.D.E.R., is an acronym for Signaal Portable Infantry Digital Encrypted Radio.
It is a very light manpack VHF radio that covers from 30 to 107.975 MHz in 25 kHz steps
It has 4 levels of power, 5W is its max output. You can power it up from 10 to 15V. I have used a LiFePO battery, but you can work with any other type as longs as in the voltage range I mentioned.
If you want to use another source of power you just need to solder a couple of wires to the A (ground) and B ( External Vcc) pins

@@Radiogenes haha very good! The radio is very cool there is one on eBay now for 1500 approx (perhaps overpriced?) I am tempted to buy but perhaps modern radio designs have more capacities for cheaper(?) I do love the military design, I understand this unit was produced for Dutch special forces in small numbers. What do you think of the practical use of this unit for an amateur enthusiast? Great video , thanks.

@@burning4902 surely it is overpriced. If you want one I a contact in The Netherlands that sells them. It has the 6meters band… other than that there is not much for amateur use. It is very well built and easy to use and easy to power.

This squeal when the backlight is on means that the radio is interfering with itself, right?

It is because there is no antenna attached. When no signal is present it picks everything. I have experienced it with other rigs too
