No one has butchered anything here. I'm pretty sure Waylon would agree and appreciate not trying to sound like Waylon but definitely keep the integrity of the song. Maybe you should move on from 1980, cut your feathered mullet, and step outside of the little box that you live in and expand as a person. Or not. Your loss. It's nice not to hear the same shit you've heard a million times. Fight the Power.
