    I’m not a Jacobite, nor a monarchist, but I appreciate the Bonnie Prince for fighting for his father’s throne. As the German Protestant, George came over from Hannover, not speaking a word of English, let alone Welsh, Irish or Scottish Gaelic, Charles Edward Stuart was barred from the throne by a law passed by parliament that stated that no Roman Catholic could ever be king or queen again. That’s the British way. The sooner Scotland leaves the union the better.

    Not sure if this is the original version or a recreation of the original but the original song was a Jacobite song that Pearse rewrote to reference Grace O’Mally and the Gaels instead of Charles and the Spanish and French
