RZR Ace 325 and Ranger Low Gear Reduction Installation - Polaris RZR Transmission Part 2

In this video we explain what transmission gear reductions are. We also show you how to calculate the gear reduction percentage. We cover the common Polaris Ace 325 gear reduction and the Polaris Ranger Low gear reduction as well as how to install them. You can purchase the Polaris Ace 325 and Polaris Ranger Low gear reductions from rockreadyutv.com. You can purchase the bearings and high gear spacer from cryoheat.com.
We typically recommend the Ace 325 gears for RZRs running 32"-34" tires. 35" tires are possible with this reduction but tire weight and what the machine will be used for needs to be taken into consideration. You may need another gear reduction or need to combine it with clutching.

    16:33 I wish I would have know about this High Gear spacer 4 years ago, if it even existed. On my 14 XP4, I lost high gear out on a trail. On tear down, I found Polaris never installed the thrust washer (washers don't just disappear) between the gear and the snap ring.....WHATTTTT??? It took just over 2 years of riding to weaken that snap ring into failure, then the high gear slid over as you described in the other video. Thankfully no internal damage with that clip floating to the bottom of the trans! On my next tear down, this car or the next, I will for sure install that spacer. I also 100% agree with upgrading as many bearings as you can!! I went with the Nachi as well (not cryo treated though). Thanks for the ton of info posted here!!

    Does installing the ace gears change your low and high or just the ratio in high gear? Thanks for the video 👍🏼

    It effects high, low, and reverse. I suggest watching our previous video on how the RZR transmission works. kzread.info/dash/bejne/jKuYqbKsoa-rmcY.html

    The audio for the first 3 videos is only the Gopro audio. The rest of the videos we have already filmed have microphones. Each video after the first 3 has better quality all around.

    We do a ton of slow technical stuff and snow wheeling so we like our machines geared lower than most. The average person on 35's is happy with the Ace gears and Ranger low reduction which is what's installed in this video. They will work in your machine. You can find them on rockreadyutv.com.

    If you only do the Ace 325 in a 900s, do you have to adjust the backlash if you do not remove anything else?

  • @SXSGarage

    @SXSGarage

    No. However, the back lash from the factory is often wrong and the 4 bolt retainer plate is easily deformed and causes issues. It's best to upgrade the retainer plate and adjust the backlash. You would need an output seal to do that but that's cheap.

    Most likely the two gear reductions in this video, the Ace 325 and ranger low. If you ever do dunes or put 32's on for desert it will be geared just a little low but tolerable.

    Does doing the ACE gear change ratio in high, low & reverse? What does adding the Ranger gear set do?

  • @SXSGarage

    @SXSGarage

    6 ай бұрын

    Yes, Ace gears changes high, low, and reverse. The ranger low gear set is just changing the 2 low gears.

    The ranger has both of those gear ratio's from the factory. You could reduce it a little more by replacing the ace gears with the stage 2 gear set from the Turbo R. They are on the Rock Ready UTV website.

    Does it reduce top speed in high gear?

  • @SXSGarage

    @SXSGarage

    The ace gear reduction does because it reduces all the gears. Any gear reduction after the input shaft gears will reduce top speeds. The ranger low only effects low gear.

    Will this combo work on a non turbo xp4?

  • @SXSGarage

    @SXSGarage

    Yes and no. The ace gears work fine. The ranger low does not. Depending on your year it could already have the ranger low ratio and if not, can possibly use the na ranger low off the Rock Ready UTV website which is from a General.

    That depends on the riding you do. The 16 turbo has the 13% stage 2 and the ranger low gear ratio from the factory. Most people like those gear ratios for 32's in the turbo machines. If you primarily do rock crawling then the ace gears will lower you down some more at the cost of losing your top speed.

    @@SXSGarage that's something I've been thinking about since I bought it new with all the added weight from after market suspension, front and rear bumper , custom roll cage, Stereo system, crypid tires That actually measures 31" in combination with 180hp tune belt smokes in thicker mud in low even though I'm easing the throttle And it must be getting hot because sometimes it explodes in high it hasnt been too bad i'm guessing six belts in 340 hours but I'm fixing to install the 2017 cam and injectors with the whalen 190 tune that goes up to 218hp but I will mainly run 190 mode i'm figuring my belt slippage is going to be worse in high So I'm trying to learn more about the gear and clutching before I start spending a lot of money on parts that don't work😂 i'm thinking that gear is the first place to start You have the best video on the gear reduction I appreciate you responding
