I don't know how many of you know about the 7520U, but it's a 4 core 8 thread processor whereas the 5500U is a 6 core 12 thread processor. Hence the 7520U lower price. And the 7520U is using a dedicated GPU Radeon 610M which is an inferior GPU chip to Vega 7 in the 5500U hence the lower fps. The 7520U is not a scam nor does it perform bad compared to a processor that is in a different league. You can say it should not be in the Ryzen 5 category which I agree with. But this is where you do your part of the research. Correction: Radeon 610M is an integrated GPU chip not dedicated.

The budget battle

2 RDNA2 compute units definitely not enough for gaming. Need at least 3 or 4 of them to get an acceptable gaming performance. Just like Athlon 200GE with 3 Vega compute units getting an acceptable 30FPS in 2010s games.

So on heavy workloads like gaming 7530U is more likely to throttle down performance as 95°C is pretty easy to hit during gaming sessions compared to 105°C. So the sustained performance of 7530U is a little bit sceptical. I'm not sure. Just my thoughts.

Basically the same CPU with a lower TDP and less performant iGPU AMD naming scheme has changed and basically, the 7520U is a 5500U. 7xxx means it released in 2023, x5xx means it's a lower tier Ryzen 5 ( if it was a 6, it would be a better Ryzen 5 ), xx2x means it's Zen 2 ( we're at Zen 4 right now ), xxx0 means it's the lower tier based chip. The only difference being the iGPU where the Radeon 610M is the lowest variant of the RDNA 2 iGPU and the 5500U is running a Vega 7, which is mid-high from when it was released.

Ya I got the the hp laptop 15-ef2099nr It’s got the Ryzen 5 5500u with 8gb ram hoping it would be the better gaming choice over the newer hp laptop with the 7520u with 16gb ram they were literally the same price but I had already got this laptop before I saw the 7520u I almost returned it but decided to stay with the 5500u but the fps in Minecraft are not very good.
