Ryobi Link or not to Link?

This video will cover some features of the Ruobi Link mobile tools storage and compare features to the Milwaukee pack out system. My goal is to help people make a choice between the two systems.
I am switching from the Milwaukee Packet to the Link specifically to see the differences between the two and to compare my findings in the future. I am hopeful the Link system will continue to release new and exciting gear.

That's a pretty good idea to keep those drawers from coming out with that bar. Way to go Ryobi.

They did a good job with that bar, but I have had a few mishaps where I didn't lock the bar in the down position and the drawers bounce open on rough terrain. Totally my fault of course.

If the bins set lower, then items in the bin could bounce out and make a mess. They have to be up close to the lid to seal the bins.

How do you keep that black bar up on the drawers? I was at home depot and storing it out of the way it wouldn't allow the the top drawer to slide open

The bar swings up and locks in place once you slide it to the left. There is a detent to hold it in place.

I feel like a lot of these tool boxes are in beta - TTI is still trying to figure out the best route. I have the Ryobi and the Ridgid, as well as the DeWalt and the older Husky boxes. I've not broke the bank for Milwaukee, but by far they appear to be the best designed. Husky just came out with a new system. I agree with much of what you're finding with the Ryobi system - a lot of good ideas, but execution fell flat on the face. The bins are a big WTF - whoever was responsible for that should be reprimanded, or fired. That's a big miss IMHO. Unless you fill that box with bins, they just flop everywhere.

I agree with the bins, that was a big disappointment for me, if they are going to be so big set it up so they cant move around.

do yourself a favor and put about 12 tek screws, 5/8 long threw the plastic handle into the metal on the telescoping handle of the rolling box. the handle pulls off EASY. mine broke these things cost way too much for such a crappy design like they are. ill try to do a little short of how i did mine.

@@danconnelldesigns3168 i like mine,, i just think they could have used some of their experience in r&d over at TTI to make a better product.. Hell id have paid more $$ if it was even just the same quality as the Milwaukee. but if used for very light duty im sure it will hold up, i am by no means in the pro world of construction but I used to be a professional mechanic, all my tools and my main roll cab is all snap-on and matco so I may have a high expectation over an occasional DIY home owner. id say its on par with craftsman.

I'm a Ryobi guy all the way. But I stood at Homedepot for almost an hour trying to figure out which to buy, The Ryobi link or the Rigid pro 2.0. I didn't want to mess up the collection, but the Link was so wiggly and the build quality was not as solid as the Rigid. Some of the ryobi cases can be mounted on the wall, But you will not be able to open it while mounted. The rigid can be mounted right on 2x4 16 on center. I'm sorry Ryobi I feel like I cheated on you, I feel bad for you but I'll be OK and that all that matters.

Thats a great question, I had a need for a second set of portable tool boxes for around the farm. I chose to try thebryobi boxed because i use a lot of Ryobibtools and the link system. I also wanted to see how they compared to the pavkout system. While i think there is room for improvement in both systems, the Ryobi link boxes work well for my needs, and the cost allows me to get more for my money. I can say that after using them for a while, I am happy with the Ryobi boxes, and I have continued adding to the system.

Now that It has been awhile I can say that the Ryobi boxes offer more space in their boxes than I had in the packout, but the Ryobi push button to unlock is not super natural feeling, I feel like I need 1 hand to hold the push button and another hand to tilt the box before I can lift it off. I do really like how they connect it's very easy just setting them on top of one another.

The plastic is a pretty good quality from what I can tell, it does not have that familiar smell you are referring to. According to a chat on the Home Depot site this was a response to where are these made. "These items can be made in the US, China or Lithuania." Take it for what its worth. lol.

the only one i have that stinks,, is the one i house all my glues and paints in. industrial CA glue and activator plus automotive chemicals can be pretty awful smelling, but I will say the box seals good enough you cannot smell t when its closed and sealed up.
