    I am also surprised at how well it worked. After hearing the compressor that is charging a pneumatic system to do the work, it makes more sense that it has enough power to split some wood. Time will tell how long it lasts though. Hydraulics are self-lubricating but not pneumatics. after seeing some wood chips going behind the cover, it might not be too long before they build up and become a problem. Maybe there's room for them to fall out, who knows. I really hope this splitter lasts. It's something that I would use in the garage to make kindling with.

  • @taylorseigler

    @taylorseigler

    I agree, it worked a lot better than I thought it would. I do think it's a flywheel spinning up, not a compressor. Kinda like the deWalt framing nailer.

  • @chubbysumo2230

    @chubbysumo2230

    10 ай бұрын

    I don't think it's pneumatic, I believe it is a kinetic energy wheel. What you're hearing is a large heavy flywheel spin up, and the handle is a friction brake that engages the log hammer.

    I remember when Ryobi not Ryobi sold tools in my DIY home user price budget. I bought a 6-ton Southland electric log splitter a few years ago for about $200 on sale at Menards. It does everything I need for the home. This new 40v Ryobi 12-ton log splitter looks like a great machine, but at $1000 it's just out of my home budget. And if I did commercial log splitting, I'd spend more money and still go with a 25-30 ton gas log splitter for more power and long run times. So, where does this 40v 12-ton log splitter fill the need?

You’re very fixated on how Ryobi is pronounced. keep in mind that it is from Japan, so the proper way to pronounce it would be how they pronounce it in Japanese because names are not usually translated. I would also like to point out that Japanese have limited range of the vocalization used in the Japanese language
