If anyone is wondering how to make the pads cut each other... As in stop playing sound as soon as another pad is hit (to prevent overlaps when messing with different patterns), set each pad's "Out" to 1.

Rx 1200 is the best 1200 I’ve ever heard in vst form
Great review! I bought this a few days ago. Is it an authentic SP1200 sound? No. Is it a useful sound that’s very similar? Yes! I’m a fan of it. When I insert an instance of the IK multimedia tape collection plugin (specifically the Tascam 388 emulation), it adds even more depth. Highly recommend the RX1200!

Important -- when you assign multiple sounds to the same "out", and set polyphony to 1 -- that's how you have one sound cut another... Hi-hats for example, so your closed hat can cut your open hat.

The out is for assigning the 8 pads to go out to 8 channels in your daw. Also you can still chop the sample. Just do it like you would if you copied a pad in the MPC and copied that sample to 4 or more pads. Then go into each pad and adjust start and stop points. It’s tedious but you can get some good results. No plugin is an exact 1 to 1 as far as sound goes compared to hardware. But this motherfucker is pretty dope.

@@AlexanderDivineEmcee I’m on the same wave. It sounds good to me.
I bought this two weeks ago. It's pretty damn good for a Drum Vst. First thing I did when I loaded it up was finger drum all the kits. That last kit you played had me like " ain't nothin but a gangsta parrrty.. parrrrty". I really hope they improve on the functionality if they do a 2.0 or something. Damn good sounds.
Thank you for the vid, love the channel! There's also a free plugin called Dystroyed I use for SP-1200 emulation. The plugin is kinda meant to go super hard in the bitcrush paint, but if you do an INNIT patch and set the bitrate to 12, and the sample rate to 26.04 kHz.... boom, SP-1200. At first I went nuts and used it on everything, but now I mainly use it on hi-hats and snares, gives them a really pleasant top end bite most of the time.

I’ve been waiting for this
I have the ESPI app of this on my Galaxy Tab S6 it's OK I had an SP1200 on use plenty back in the day my mate had one but these days I prefer to make my beats through a DAW just so much options at your hand...keep up the good work my man.
9 out of 10 times I look up a plugin I want to try its this page reviewing. That’s impressive.
Low Hiss Systems got a dope standalone application for windows, or Mac eSPi 1200. It’s been out for a couple of years. It’s not a VST but if you create a beat on it, you can definitely track it out to stems to your DAWs. Ave you should definitely do a comparison video between the two peace and love my brother.
just got it on sale and your video helped me decide to finally pay for it
Yooo, the „Out“ u mentioned with knowing what it does: if u open the plugin with multiple outputs (9 stereo) you can assign individual outputs to which ever sound u like…this way u could put effects on snare or hat bur not on kick….works super dope in logicx

Pair this with the RX950 = 👍🏿
Bought this, this sounds ridiculous! Love it!
Apparently they also simulated the gain stage of the real machine and also the filtering inside the SP 1200, it's trully made for big Hip Hop Beat and House music as a drum or loop source.
AVE!! WHATTUP BROTHA!! IVE BEEN USING THIS JNT FOR ABOUT A WEEK!! ITS DOPE!

I brought this after seeing your vid homie, thanks fam. For anyone complainin' about this at $30, they just hatin' just to hate 🤷🏾♂️
I have had the Sp1200, I currently have an S2400, and now I have this. The workflow and it’s weird little issues are faithful to the original and it won’t be for everyone. Give it time to figure it out and it’s rewarding, just like the machine it seeks to imitate. I’m a big fan of this vst. It’s close enough for kissing and it’s Reason integration is clutch. The Low Hiss version has a better sound to my ears but it’s integration, thus it’s usefulness, is limited. Recommended cop for sure.

@Rockniss
9 ай бұрын
@@BassmeantProductions that’s a loaded question to the purist. To be clear, the 2400 and 1200 ultimately, to my ears, sound different. I loved the 1200 but I think you are at a point of diminishing returns spending that kind of money while the 2400 exists. The behavior of the 12-bit mode is exactly like the 1200 except you aren’t concerned with sample time, even the signal path has been replicated. It’s an instant classic.
You can do this same sp1200 aliasing effect in battery and maschine. Decimort plugin works too to make samples 12 bit

Thoroughly impressed by your knowledge of Akai products in particular. I have a question for you. If you could only choose 1 to cover all your music needs would it be, the Force, the Mpc key 61 or the MPC X (se)???????????
The magic in the SP-1200 is also the filter
The point is, set it 45rpm and then tune it down to get the crispness. You can do something similar in Maschine by tuning it up 6, resample, then tune it down 6. Not as fast, but similar result, you get the aliasing from the 1200 setting of you use that. Inphonik will add copy from pad to pad.

Awesome presets, that makes it worth it alone... But the UI is in the sweet spot of simplicity & usable complexity... So it's FUN to use but sounds great. I'm loving it! And I appreciate the affordability. Oh, it scales up to hi-def, too, so it's fine on a 4k interface!
Assigning an out to each sound gives you the ability to process each tone individually as a separate channel in the daw
Joint is fire. Been using it for a few months.
As soon as my Sp1200 comes back from forat… I’ll do a real comparison. And by the way the sp1200 had 10 seconds of sample time

They need to drop this on the iPad like asap! 💯
Priceless
Used it for a bit in Ableton but idk if I'm still not using it correctly, but I can't map all the 3 fader options to the faders on my midi controller. I can map only one of the options (tune/decay/mix) but couldn't find a way to switch between them and still use the same faders. Also it records into a piano roll midi with notes, way less convenient than Ableton's drum rack midis that are just concise with each note named after the sample, plus they stay in separate channels that you can easily fiddle while mixing later.
That sample you may was crazy. This vst look fun. I’m going to get it just because I was watching Wu-Tang on Hulu. And saw rza on this
the sample menu workflow looks good but makes me wonder what you think of the new gas therapy sampler v2, like you and Michael are me fav software producer struggle youtubers
I was able the emulate the classic 1200 ring sound in my sp202 pretty well.

cool! can you also just run sound through it (use it as an audio fx) to use the filter? (without loading samples)
WOW!! STR8🔥🔥🔥
I currently use the SP950. I just like the sound. No need for the drum machine features.
You can do that though. You can chop a sample, then export it to audio files and put it on the pads no? I use it with MPC 2 and it works well....
This is dope yo
Thanks for sharing. It's certainly good enough for $30 vs how many thousands now? lol. It certainly has that inimitable crispiness, it sounds great. Better than the emulations on the MPCs for sure, imo >_>
Aye Ave is there anyway to chock samples so they don’t overlap each other ?
D🎛️PE , gr8 layout… should have a live record in /resample option . But at least it appears to work well, I didn’t want to be be disappointed by Espi 1200 app, that is buggy but the groove of the SP1200 was on point …. This looks like it runs sweet, I’d be curious to hear the resolution of the sequencer …. Good looking out Ave .

the point is to work like the SP1200 minimal feature help you push for more creativity ... just like the original if extra feature are added then just make a new plugin ..keep it like the SP1200
See that Dilla Time in the background. Good book!
Imma buy the isla 2400 as my 2nd piece of gear just to get a standalone old school sound and feel. I felt this way when I first got it over covid. Basically sat around for two years til I finally decided to attack it head on. I've played music for 15 yaers so I have decent ears, but I know nothing about engineering so its all new. Finally started getting the hang of it and now my cousin let me borrow his SP404 after I asked him how he liked it - he didn't. He dosent have the newest one (he also bought over covid) and everything is done by ear without any visual reference. Going to be interesting to take a stab at the SP, because once I started to get the hang of the box it became easier to notice where the sample I want ends. Either way I'd get an SP-1200 if I had the funds. Stoked they reissued it because it has a certain sound thats the magic maker for samples. I'd buy it even just to color things because its that good. Def finna take a stab at this vst tho.

Surprised they didn't make the resolution 12 bit or higher just because we all payed too much for the original 1200 and seems like the tech would be simple to include? Optional from 12bit/16/24? Why not?
The French 'music people' make excellent software and hardware. Something about that romanticism - they don't just focus on Tech, they show a lot of love for the sound of what they produce. It doesn't surprise me the included library is very good - and authentic.
To my ear the sp1200 sounded better… especially the lower you went. It is significant…. i heard the difference but you can certainly mix and process around it.
