This is seriously the dream build. I have a deep love for the EK chassis.

mickey i think one bodyshop told me that when they install structural parts on cars, the chassis should ideally be on all 4 wheels. This relieves the tension on the chassis. On newer cars that is less important because they are much improved for rigidity and safety. But on very old economy compact cars, they are highly flexible and thus will should be on wheels when new body panels are installed!!!!!!

I don't really see how that can make any difference tho. Even if they do, it wouldn't be that much. I doubt the chassis was on wheels when they installed the panels from factory

​@@markmeripa I have worked on this model of the Civic. When I jacked up one corner of the car to replace the brakes, the door becomes hard to open and it wouldn't close because the body flexed so much that the door striker and the latch are completely misaligned. Maybe this effect is lessened due to the cage. However, seeing the amount of carbon fiber roof that needed to be trimmed, I don't think it was the problem with the carbon fiber roof. I think the body flexed a little too much

Damn, that's a lotta carbon! The EK weighed bugger all to start with so this things gonna be a lil pocket rocket. I've always wanted to do a carbon roof but finding the part is a nightmare if you want quality.

here in the Philippines carbon fibering is like a sticker that all people can install it..there project is too expesive..

Incredible work going on! I can’t wait to see the next steps! Really looking forward to seeing the clean engine bay with all the welds cleaned both before and after paint. I had no idea that roof panels were done like this. I am working on an RX8 and want to close up the sun roof. I wont be able to go with a carbon roof but definitely happy to see this type of construction.

I wanted a carbon roof for my EM1 years ago. I actually contacted a company and got quotes to make a one off piece because there were none available at that time. Glad to see someone is making these, I may pick one up now :)

Check out Project Binky from Bad Obsession Motorsports if you want to see the outcome of two dudes in rural Shropshire refusing to take the easy route for the better part of a decade on a single car build. They're drivetrain swapping the AWD system from a Celica AWD into a classic Mini by replacing approximately 95% of the mini with custom fabricated steel.

One thing I can’t ignore is, the lack of “Weld-Thru Primer” on ALL of the jobs whether it be in Throtl, TJHunt, B is for Build, and anyone who cuts into any panel or grinds and doesn’t protect that bare metal gives me so much anxiety to know the rust issues that will come in the future. Sealing it from the outside is one thing but it needs to be sealed from the inside as well. 🥺 I hope someone lets all of them know cause they do a great job as it is, I’d hate to see these projects go down the road and develop rust over the years to come. And yes I know rust won’t be her tomorrow a week from now or within a year as far as crumbling apart, but oxidation happens REALLY fast! Just tryna warn y’all! Love the videos! Keep me coming

@ Ricky when you want to figure out your welding settings...test on a piece of scrap the same thickness of what you're welding. usually it's 1amp per each thousand in thickness of metal💪

@Mickey Andrade what color are you thinking for this build? Btw I love the fact that there is no expense spared and no corners cut on this build. I’ve always been an EK fan and this is the ultimate imo. Keep up the great work!

Should have used Hush Performance for the brakes. They make really sick clutch and brake setups.
