RV4 - the making of - (Experimental Aircraft)
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Process of building an experimental aircraft during the last five years in my garage. It's a long way to the top if you want an RV4.....Credits to my wife Andrea and Willi, the dog, for beeing still here, Pat the personal bucking bar for help and support, my parents for some extra grease, Klaus for infecting me with the RV-virus, Doug Reeves for his fanastic www.vansairforce.net community, Van for his great design and support, Georg for all the tools and for teaching me how to land this thing and all the others on the way. The experience of a lifetime!!

Super Dirk..! Danke..! I started building my RV4 in 2004 , and I shamlessley copied your building approach and methods ..! My Bird flew in 2015, and I have had zero problems . A superb design I am sure you will agree..! So thanks Dirk, happy flying and stay safe in the air mate..! Cheers.
Thanks this video was used many times to keep me going and get my RV-4 flying.
beautiful construction...very nice ! I`m a pilot of airbus 320 in Brazil and I`d fly in this machine for sure...safe and sound. totally aproved - great job.
This video is really interesting to me because you built your own plane... but also at 2:17 it’s the day I was born. Soloed on my 16th birthday. Crazy cool!
I had my first fly in an RV 4 last weekend at Kinglake, Victoria Australia. What a hot plane! Any one who finishes a project like this deserves a medal!
Very nice video log, and you built a very nice airplane...the German way! I remember all these moments, and the hundreds of flying hours I have loved my -4! Bravo!
The RV4 is the best one, it was vans fav plane to fly
Fantastic craftsmanship, thanks for sharing the video. She is a beauty! RV-4 is one of my all-time favorite planes.
Congratulations. Thinking of doing it, but seems very long time to spend. It takes a special person to work on something like that. Well done!!!!!
My God, this is really something! Knowledge, creativity and hard work is everything. Great set of skills and knowledge proves that you not necessary lots of money, special labs and conditions to build complex thinks such as Airplane. Taking in account that is just one off. Only large companies with lots of resources can build prototypes of airplanes, or you need to be individual with lots of recourses in your head... in short... genius... well done!
Absolutely first class workmanship. A wonderful achievement to be proud of. Awesome!
That is a beautiful RV4. Very nice job. Very nice.

Wonderful :) :)
Did you really keep your shop so neat for the whole process, or did you tidy up when you were going to take photos? ;-) -jcr
wow.he must be a wealthy german.Did you see that house. Fr sure that's worth more than a million us.Excellent work. Rv's r a real lil hot rod of a plane.;)
Dedication !
dankeschön for das video
Amazing, beautiful work. I bet it was difficult to convince yourself to paint over that beautiful bare aluminum! But the maintenance of it would have been brutal.
I downloaded your vid..really cool!!!!
your wife is um....very patient.
It's just to bake the paint on. Some paints need to be cured under a good deal of heat. To temper, or bend the metal would take more temperature.
this makes me wanna make one, wait i already wanna make one lol, kiack ass dude! im 16 and so is my freind we both wanna make one but with a mazda rotary engine found on those old rx7's make an aluminum tubing frame and wrap it with canvas, so yea thanks for this vid bro!
Grats you are best .I wish i could do something like that :(
super..
Muito bom!!! Adorei o vídeo... Eu queria saber como faço pra adquirir esse kit? Moro no Brasil e por aqui é muito difícil encontrar esse tipo de mercadoria
superrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
I have been looking into building one. The RV-4 will cost a minimum of about $35,000 all said and done, and can go over $50,0000 if you go nuts with a new engine, constant speed prop, advanced avionics, custom paint, etc. The basic airframe kit is about $15,000, and can be ordered one section at a time to spread out the cost. It's a hell of a plane for the money though, if you have the time.....

lindo vídeo, estoy pensando construir un RV4 en Bolivia Santa Cruz
where is this? you guys genius.
Its looks like you made a serious mistake on one of the spars.... AS A FAA inspector I would like to talk to you!! ha IM kidding.... It looks damn GOOD...
Hello! First I would like to congratulate you on the beautiful work you have done! Second is questioning you if you had previous experience with riveting? I was grown inside one light aircraft workshop and we had a very good riveter, but I've never done any riveting in my life. One more time, congrats for the smooth finish.
Wonderful job. What was your motivation to do it? You were driven by what? Along the way did someone helped you, even just encouraging you? Thanks.
its worth to mention that you need a license to fly it, and it has to pass some tests. if you build a microlight (or is it ultralight?) you dont need a license to fly it in many places.
That is just plain nice =) How much did it cost =D
Is there any point in the build that requires any aluminum welding?
What I would give to fly that plane just once... :-)
hi! may i know what engine did you use? or did you make your own engine?
may i know where did you purchased the engined?
