But wait, there's more! The darco is the lowest point of the slide so when water runs down the side of the slide out walls, the water drops end up clinging to (and wicking through) the darco. The water ends up absorbing into your slide out floor and, you guessed it, you will have a soft floor that needs to be replaced. I installed a slide out ski to prevent the water from getting to the darco. Instructions for the install are on my channel. You did a great job on showing how to install the rollers! Thanks.

Thanks for the video! added 3 to each of my bigger slides on my 2017 Fuzion 417. I had to weld a 3/4" x 1/8" strip with 2 holes to the flange of the roller because there was a step right where the mounting holes were at. took about an hour for the first side, and 25 mins for the second slide.

We had our RV to the dealer with this same problem. They spent a lot of time and lubricant trying to fix. They didn’t seem to know what was causing the jumping. Great video! Wanted to let people know that it's usually not a "failed" wear bar causing this. It's just simply friction causing it. After my dealer told me there is nothing they can do to fix it on my BRAND NEW camper I purchased from them, I fixed the issue on my 12 ft slide by buying 2 cans of Silicone Spray Lubricant, running the slide full out, spraying the underbelly of it in small areas at a time until it was wet (evaporates pretty quickly). The Silicone spray leaves a slippery film behind after evaporating. Did this 2 times and it fixed the problem. So far it's been about a year and has not done it again since.

Well done, Thanks! I followed your suggestions and installed my rollers today. With my slide all the way out I couldn't get much lift. I brought it in about an inch and was able to lift it enough to get the sawzall in there. I did 4 rollers in a kitchen slide that has the refrigerator and stove in it. It seemed to raise my slide out about 3/8" to 1/2". I sealed the gap with a piece of plastic garage door seal that worked perfectly.

Did you install one the whole length or just enough to cover each roller cutout? I'm worried it will fold in when pulling the slide in and catch on the roller and rip off.

I'm so thankful for your video. I have a 2020 Vibe 26BH with a Accu-slide and wear bar. It is only 5 months old and under warranty. Mine has a slightly different issue. The screws that hold the wear bar down are not fully screwed in and thus scraping the slideout floor bottom. Forest River has accepted responsibility for it, but I cannot find a RV shop that will do the repair work. Most say they won't repair it if I bought elsewhere. The rest say they don't have the equipment or experience. So I have a new busted up RV that I'm paying to sit in my driveway. I'm hopeful that this will take care of it. Otherwise I'm screwed.

You convinced me to buy some of those Lippert rollers for our Montana HC and the 13 foot LR slide and the 7 foot kitchen slide, both of which appear to have failed slide bars. Now all I need is some good weather to do the install. Interesting that the lightest of the 4 slides on our 5er, the BR has factory installed rollers. I never thought I would miss the Lippert rack and pinion slides on our old 5er - but I do!

Just an update - I have the rollers but still waiting on better weather - maybe no rain tomorrow!. Most if not all of the jerking and strange noises can be removed by cable adjustment as I have done. Not a fun task but doable. BAL recommends ZEP 45 lube on the wear bar. Too expensive at 27-29 bucks a can - if you can find it. I used a 7-8 buck commercail CRC PTFE based lube with virtually the same ingrediants and it works. I have 2 reasons to install rollers - first, the LR sags and no amount of cable adjustment will fix that wear bar failure droop. The second - I'm tired of adjusting cables and if this helps .........

I degreased the wear bar as good as I could with Totally Awesome, then sprayed the bottom of the slide with WD40 Specialist Dirt and Dust Resistant Dry Lube PTFE spray and let it dry. Ran the slide in and out and it works like new. The rollers would be a more permanent fix but mine are fixed now with the PTFE lube, I guess that I will monitor them for a while...

Mike, Hello and Thank You for this detailed post! I have not been able to acquire the level of assistance from Norco/BAL that you were able, but the height of the wear bar of the 12' slide box in my 2017 Keystone Bullet 272bhs is not as tall as the sections that you had removed from your Voltage. If I measure the stack up including the 0.20" to remove the carpet below the J-36 Roller Assemblies, the slide would still be approx. 0.30" above the current wear bars. As you appear to have excellent mechanical skills, in your opinion, if I were to remove the nylon rolls from the roller assembly, do you think that I could turn them down a little in a lathe? Additionally, as you had published this information last year, have you seen any additional wearing of the darco cloth? Any additional details or feed-back would be greatly appreciated! All the Best!
@MikeHooley

I have the same issue with my larger slide out which is my kitchen slide. My fifth wheel is a 2018 Keystone sprinter with 4 slides. I just bought it a month ago and the slide is jerking and skipping when coming in/out. The dealers don't have any answers but to schedule an apt . We all know what its like to bring your rv to the dealer. LOL it will be their for the hole camping season. The Rollers make sense. The dealers all tell me that the traditional wear bar setup is constantly an issue . I have ordered 5 rollers I sure hope they fix the issue. The only thing I see is that by cutting out the wiper seal and wear bar this leaves a gap for debris and other elements to enter the coach

You can buy additional wiper seal material and install it over the gaps to restore the seal. I would provide more detail be we have yet to do this step to our own trailer. We haven't noticed the missing sections of wiper to be much of an issue. Though it would be better to seal it back up I'm sure.

Ok I thought this was a good idea . After replacing 2 gearbox’s I decided to check out installing rollers . Problem is mine already has rollers. 4 on the appliance slide 8’ & only 2 on living room slide . Living room side snagged in the middle causing floor damage. Repaired with aluminum flashing. The system has no safe guards ( prox/ limit switch) to avoid gearbox failure. The manual override is a cruel joke as one you can’t reach and the fact that the gearbox needs to be good for this to work.

Hey!’ I’ve got an idea! How about the manufacturer install these rollers at the factory- IN THE FIRST PLACE.
I think you are showing a fix that 100% of the slide out owners will need. Thank you.
THAT was an AWESOME informational video! Thanx so much for doing it! Lot's of us RV'ers are in your debt, good sir!👍🏾
Thanks.
awesome vid! thanks for taking the time to share this! all these little issues with rv'ing are so much simpler then they look like at first.
Thanks for the video was very helpful. I appreciate you taking the time to doing it, and putting it out there for us. Happy camping Sir. 👍
Been in business a long time so don’t understand why they wouldn’t have come across this problem. Thanks so much for this video. Saved us a lot of anxiety.
Thanks Man ! I appreciate your research and your time to share a fix to this. Well done

Thank you so much. this is my exact issue with my slide outs. Now i know how to repair it. I have tried every lube out there and nothing is working. I might as well give this a shot. Awesome video.
Big thanks for sharing that. This sort of help Mike is what makes KZread great.

Just made this mod to my Voltage 3705. Working great but is squeaky. No more jerking. Happy camper.
Thank you for the very useful and informative video of this process, I have a somewhat similiar problem with one of our slide outs.
Another of a long list of "fixes" that must be done to make our RV's usable and reliable. Nice video Mike.
Nice job. You are a brave man and a good technician.

The second - I'm tired of adjusting cables and if this helps .........
mike just installed 2 rollers from e bay for 20 bucks and they work!!!! the slide is smooth like glass nice job huge help thank you soooo much buddy saved me

Great video. I have Schwintex slides on my tt with the original roller system. After time the rollers will wear through or tear the material on the bottom of the slide. I started watching your video hoping you were going to address that problem. The only solution is to install some sort of wear strips for the rollers to run on. Can't wait to see your associated video games as this video it will be awesome.
Love this idea.. and most likely will do myself.. but something I have been doing and so far has helped a lot.. is baby powder.. put it on a dry rag and wipe the bottom of your slide… lay it thick. After a few times it’s slick again. It’s annoying that you have to do something like this on campers that are so darn expensive…. 🤦♂️
Great video, helped me see what i need to do for mine, Thanks Mike
Great fix ,I wish the RV industry had an oversight committee like the Automobile industry to eliminate or cut down the amount of blatant design screwups that the customers of RV's have to eat the cost for. The manufacturer should reimburse you for your material cost and $150 an hour that they charge us.

My slides are exactly the same as yours and did the same thing.
Great help with a nagging problem. Thanks
I added 5 to my 11 ft slide. it works better but it did raise it a good half inch. So far no issues and hope it stays that way. I need to seal the wiper area at rollers. I'm worried it will get pulled in and catch on the rollers and rip it off.
Nice job. Great video.
No sir. Thank you. This video clears up my understanding of why my Forest River Vibe is getting groves under the slideout. I thought there were rollers that are causing the problem. Now I know it is crappy design.
Good fix! Looks like your cable brackets need to be moved down so they pull straight in. I'm changing accuslide cables on my 2017 Laredo now, and all the videos mention that.
Thanks for sharing, Im doing this modification to my Montana
Awesome Video Thanks for posting!
Hey Mike, Great video! How about an update on how it is doing 3.5 years later? Any issues or anything you would have done differently?
You know why RV factories are always on a paved road? Because a dirt road would shake 'em up so bad, they'll fall apart before they get to the dealer.
Nice vid, I was wondering where and what they call that power plug. My RV is wired for a second AC but it dont have one and I will not need one. The 50 AMP 35ft cord is a beast to load and unload. I would like to put a smaller 30 amp cord. But this adapter would work good as long as the AC is not needed. Thanks mike
Good vid, thanks. My Travel Supreme needs bedroom slide rollers replaced. Unfortunately they are recessed about 5" in from outside edge. Getting them out is the problem. I may slide a flat bar in under the middle of the roller bracket and get a Sawzall to cut the screws then install the outside mount screws. The link didn't come up but Cass rv rollers will bring them up.Thumbs up
Great instruction!!!!
My 12 foot long kitchen slide is doing this and it bulges out the wall at the bottom on one side, I hope these rollors will stop it. Thanks for the info and link.
I havent found such a video for this problem mine is having now also...THANKS... I would have liked to have seen the old wear bar condition wear. My wife just thinks its dirty.. I don't expect much debris getting into that area only from interior sweeping out to the exterior. 8 Rollers ordered every 3 ft recommended.. Hope the wear bar is standard. Seems they all come from the same MFGrs in Indiana to save them time and you money.. Mine only lasted 2 years and I was befuddled to figure out the problem.. Long screws of 3" often are used to go through the aluminum box channel to reach through it.. You are DE' MAN!!... Man hug!

I tackled my smaller slide today. It was successful. I noted the "wear bar" was extremely worn on the ends. Perhaps yours is also similar. I think Keystone likes to use these for some reason of economics. A shorter saw blade seem do do fine but i was ready with the longer ones.
Thank you for sharing your video definitely helps out
Perfect! I need to do this. I am having the same exact issue. Do you think there is any other way to do this without floor jacks?
Great video. Thank you for the link to the rollers. Where can I purchase the replacement wiper material?
You mentioned you talked/worked with a technician... what company did they work for? How did you get a hold of them? I’m seeing the same issue with my Keystone Fuzion 2017 (371). Keystone customer service was no help... kept saying to take it to a dealer.
what was the height of the wiper, I would like to measure mine to see if its the same.
Great vid my brother.
What size rollers, are they 1/2 or 3/4. Also what size was that friction bar

Great job!
Bed on back fell out of tracks and now I can’t figure out how to put it back on tracks. There is this nasty little box shaped metal thing that won’t let me slide it back in. So I brought the bed platform inside and tried tracking it that way but there are two metal stops preventing that. No idea how to get it back on tracks now, any thoughts?
Got as far as cutting the bottom wiper seal and there is no slide bar as shown.I installed roller but at that point realized that there were already rollers in place behind the wiper seals right next to my install. I suggest checking before cutting. I have a 2018 Grand Design Reflections 315 RLTS.
So so when you put in the roller it doesn't need to be even with the piece you cut out or does it have to stick above it
How many gearbox’s did you replace before you did this?
Good video, thanks.
Since the rollers are slightly taller than the wear bar, is it necessary to cut out a part of the wear bar?
Have to agree should be installed at factory I have seen a lot of trailers with this system and they just don’t seem to work well. Mine is going back to the dealership this week to get the slides adjusted and the rv is about a year old.
@MikeHooley
5 жыл бұрын
I think you would be able to lathe the rollers down a little, though I am no expert on the matter. We haven't seen any additional wear to the darco from the rollers. The wear bar was causing far more damage.

hope ya dont mind me responding to your post, as far as the darci cloth getting warn, I seen a video where a guy installed i think it was 1/8” stainless steal over the darco cloth, so the rollers slid on that, the stainless was like 6” wide, and the length of the slide. good day

@MikeHooley

You can buy additional wiper seal material and install it over the gaps to restore the seal. I would provide more detail be we have yet to do this step to our own trailer. We haven't noticed the missing sections of wiper to be much of an issue. Though it would be better to seal it back up I'm sure.

OK I put 5 of these on my 12 foot kitchen slide. It actually raised my slide up a good 1/2 inch. Word of advice. It has compromised the plastic wrap on the bottom of the slideout. No water can get in while driving down the road.
