I'm glad YOU do, Bill...cuz I sure didn't!! 😄 I since have completely changed to different fittings, hose, and every connection is taped and doped. Now, the only time I get a leak is the CG hose-bib's fault! Check out the new system! kzread.info/dash/bejne/mGqGxclmcbS9g9o.html

Hey THANK YOU for commenting. I'm so glad you finally got around to getting them installed; such a great feature to have in many ways, right? Quick, Easy, and also prevents twisting. Keep those o-rings clean and lubed with silicone grease and that'll keep them working for a long time. Sealing your hose threads with tape and dope will also help leaking.

Thanks for sharing and helping others Steve, I always like to improve ideas and eliminate relying on my terrible memory causing me to forget things that I need by using visual reminders or putting something in the equation to cause a physical restriction to eliminate something getting left behind. If you attach a lightweight cable/lead/string/tether etc…from your multiple water connections to your electrical cable. This will not only introduce a visual reminder, rather than relying upon memory but, would also put something physical on your electrical power cord to ensure that you have to disconnect and TIDY AWAY before retracting the power cord. Well, HELLO RICH!!! Wow, I am SO delighted to have you join me from England...so honored! What a great idea about "ticklers tethers"... I love it. That would have saved me a couple regulators...LOL. What I do, now, is screw my pre-filter directly onto the regulator so that, in theory, it takes that quick-connect out of the equation. It becomes a single unit, which doesn't ever need to be taken apart anyway. Thank you, AGAIN, for not just finding and watching, but also the compliment and feedback. Hope to hear more from you. It’s absolutely does, Marc.

I put my adjustable pressure regulator and y adapter on the output of the soft water filter. the pressure regulator goes on the side feeding the motorhome the other side is for a garden hose.. you never want to wash your motorhome with hard water, unless you like hard water spots on your glass.. generally I will wash the motorhome with the unfiltered water, I do the initials sudsing and a final rinse with softened water to prevent water spots.. I learned this the hard way with my first motorhome I made the mistake of hosing it down a few times at different campgrounds this left all the glass with horrible hard water spots that made driving difficult... I have since learned how to use a buffer to remove water spots but it's a long and tedious process that I'd rather not repeat. the benefit of putting the pressure regulator after the water has been softened is that your pressure regulator will last much longer. hard water kills these adjustable pressure regulators very quickly.. my adjustable pressure regulator is actually mounted inside the tank Bay, I have a quick connect fitting on it so hooking it up is really easy. my first adjustable pressure regulator barely lasted six months before hard-water destroyed it, after moving it to the output of the water water softener it has lasted 4 years and is still going strong.

Good point about hard water wrecking a regulator; yes, it can happen. As for washing our coach, I along with most others I know, won’t let anything but DI WATER touch it. Like you, one time is all you need to realize why! And, even softened water can leave spots where DI won’t. Thanks for watching and commenting.

If you turn off the spigot then move your selector from city water to tank fill it will relieve the pressure in the hose.

Thank you for watching and commenting. However, Newell's ONLY run on pressurized water system from tank water, so there's no option for "city water" as you suggest. The auto-tank fill is a switch, which controls the tank fill ON/OFF only. Plus, not only is there an on-board regulator, but also a check-valve so, your suggestion won't work to dump pressure. Normally, the best we can do is try to bleed some pressure at the WYE on the spigot; but, again, with checkvalves in that outboard regulator...it really doesn't do much good.

That EMS you have laying on the ground runs about $300 and I used to have one just like it. Just a word of caution, those are a hot item for thieves and can be taken in less than five seconds. Do yourself a favor, buy a 50a extension cable. Coil your factory shore power line up inside your coach's electrical bay then plug it into your EMS which is also inside your bay, then run the extension from the EMS (through the bay hole) and into shore power. This way no one can steal your EMS. I also wouldn't leave that pressure regulator outside connected to the spigot as those are easy to steal as well. I have that, the filter, and water softener, (all connected with QD's) but all inside the water bay in our coach. I also upgraded from the Progressive EMS to a Hughes Watchdog which connects to my phone via Bluetooth so I get a real-time view of energy usage. It also sends me a text message if/when there is a power outage event.

Those are good ideas, albeit sad you feel you need to take those measures. Some of your storage ideas aren’t applicable to everyone. For example, Newells have a different configuration (tight and non-lockable) for their shoreline bay. As for the water components, it all has to stay outside for space, and can’t take a chance on other dry bays. I’m not going to sacrifice those for the rare chance of theft. We have a cable lock for the EMS, should we be inclined. Although you can never tell, some folks would say that “if you’re that worried about where you are, then MOVE!” I’d agree with that, but after all, if someone is gonna swipe a $40 pressure regulator…why travel with all the other valuables; soon you’ll be locking your chairs, pellet grills, and shoes up!

Thanks for the video. I noticed you didn’t empty the water softener tank after disconnecting. Do you travel with water in the water softener?

Hi, thanks for watching and asking a good question. While it's not necessary to drain the tank, it sure makes it easier on my back! So, most of the time, I'll drain the water by turning the tank upside down for a minute or so while I disconnect everything else. Be sure to watch the newest videos on my 3-stage system now! 👍

I’ve used the brass quick connects and over time found they tend to leak along with being expensive. Reluctantly, I tried Ace Hardware plastic quick connect fittings. They are much more reliable, available at every Ace Hardware and much less expensive.

THANKS FOR YOUR COMMENTS! I feel ALL of the quick connects will leak over time. But, after having a dozen different ones; from metal to plastic, the washers are the weakest link. Plastics "can" can be just fine but will not hold up in the outdoors (sun) or abuse such as rough driveways, etc. The coated aluminum versions gall up badly, so I suggest avoiding those. So, it comes down to a solid brass fitting will stand the abuse and sun...just change the washers to remain leak free. Oh, and also...the Male is the part to protect. If you bang that end up, no matter WHAT material, you're gonna have issues.

Hey Steve, thanks again for another great video. My soft water tank is in my storage bin area. I don't take it out each time as you do. Are you familiar with that installation?

Never worry about it. Not a big deal. In fact, I don’t even lock up my Progressive EMS box which is much more expensive and easier to steal. As I’ve heard it said, if you’re worried about theft at an “RV park”, perhaps you should reevaluate why your there and look for another place.

Are used one of those systems four years ago and after a couple weeks I had a rash all over my body that drove me crazy. Never realize they could do that as I guess I’m just one of those lucky people. I ended up putting up with the rash for almost a month before I figured out what it was as the dermatologist had no idea what was causing it. So that system is not for me.

That’s so wild. I’ve heard of skin issues once before. Of course, skin issues can react to hard water as well. But soft water systems, after a thorough flushing, won’t contain any salt, and “soft” water is supposed to be better for sensitive skin. Sorry you had a bad experience though.

I can see your quick connect is leaking... I've had the same issue and can't find a quick connect that truly gives a water tight connection. My on the go soft water tank is in my wet bay... not outside... so a leaking connection will not work

Terry, good observation. Please see my latest videos on water filters. I’ve since changed to a newer 0-ring model quick connect and am much happier with them. I still use these for “utility” purposes such as pressure washer and dirty hose connections. Thank you for watching.

Sometimes, leaks happen unfortunately. But, most of the time, a bit of tightening with good washers will help. The QC connectors do a pretty good job and are usually leak-free.

They can do that occasionally, sometimes because the fittings aren’t tightened down. The washer versions seal by pressure. I’ve moved to O-ring based versions which seal a bit better.
