RV AC Silencer (Does this really work?)
โ ๐ RV AC units are loud. When we were walking through the Tampa RV show we discovered the RV AC Silencer and it seemed like they developed something unique to help with quieting an AC. What we didn't anticipate was the additional airflow after installation. This was a pleasant surprise.

Wacko is the perfect name for that company because at $209 the price is wacko. Todd you did a great job on explaining and installing.
@raiden72
ะัะป ะฑาฑััะฝ
Holy crap $210? I would have envisioned this product would be only $50. But you have a lot of old folks that will pay that gladly of ignorance Wacko has to be getting at least 80% margin!!!
Updated reply: I'm impressed with the AC performance after installing the Silencer on our new to us (August 2023) 2015 Winnebago Via with a Coleman Mach II AC unit. I've never had such cold air coming out of the ceiling vents and I've owned two travel trailers and a Newmar Bay Star with AC units. The silencer did cut down on the noise, but I think the biggest improvement resulted from using the aluminum tape to seal up all the leaks and gaps!
After watching your video (thank you!) and some others, I installed the AC silencer on our Winnebago Via, which we just purchased. Anyone installing one should have a second roll of foil tape ready as you will probably use a lot of it. Installing the tape is the most time-consuming part of the job. The instructions that come with the Silencer are very brief and I would encourage Wacko to provide more comprehensive instructions with larger photos. So, watching videos ahead of time can be very helpful. I didn't take any decibel readings, but the Silencer definitely reduced the overall volume and many of the higher frequencies were eliminated or reduced. One important tip is to make sure your AC's drain lines are clean as if they are partially blocked with debris, airflow will be reduced and you may end up having water dripping from the AC unit. It happened with our Via while we were still at the dealership and they promptly cleaned the line and the improvement in airflow seemed to be about double. We're headed out in about a week and if we have some warm October temps in Ohio, I'll get a better idea of how well the Silencer works. Hope you post a follow-up soon!
Thanks for the videos. I have the same Coleman-Mach AC - when running the AC, the center divider would push slightly to the side, and short circuit the cooling - ie. some cool air went over the divider right back into the return duct. So I taped the center divider across the top and sides to keep it in place. This setup does help provide much improved airflow thru the duct vents.
Great info, thanks Todd. Safe travels.
Another awesome video. Tech time with Todd. Thanks for sharing
Donโt be so hard on yourself Todd! You did a great job with explaining everything! Great review! Thank You! Love all You do! ๐

I enjoyed the seemingly ease of installation! Good job Todd! ๐๐ป๐๐๐ป๐๐ป
I enjoyed your video and can tell the difference in the sound quality. Good job!
I was going to try that on our rig. Glad you are doing it before we bought it.
We installed these on both of our ac units and love them.
Todd you find some of the neatest products out on the market thank you for the information.
We bought ours at the show, too. Does make a difference. It also really helped with the airflow, too!
Great video thanks for sharing. Thanks From Wisconsin
We have had ours sincere Jan 2020. We love them. Really workโs great.
I love how you are not a one note KZreadr....you cover it all....just call them squirrel segments lol
Great product video, you did a great install video. Will wait for your review .
Good job Todd
You do a great job at your product projects. Don't sell yourself short. You also are upfront and state that this item is a first and you are trying it out and will give feed back. Again, don't apologize.... These segments are real good.
Good review. I saw several people with these at the show. Hope it works for you! Love the name WackO!
We are always tuned in up front looks like a fair product We will wait and see what your final analysis is. Thanks for sharing

Cool stuff!
As a contractor your anecdotal observations are important, Todd. Sealing up every inch with foil tape is super important. Iโm not sure those decibel numbers are worth the price though, so I look forward to your followup video on this.
Sounds like WackO silencer might be a good thing. Looking forward to the update on how it works over time. Thanks
Hope it works well for you. On the comment about the O in Wisconsin, try Oconomowoc. It gets many of the O sounds in one word.
Very interesting product. I think the A/C noise is one of the most annoying things in the RV. Anxious to see what your review is in 30 days.
Tech Tips with Todd! I put RV Airflow in our 3 coleman A/C's when we 1st purchased our 399. Doesn't really make them anymore quite but it pushes the air more efficiently through the trailer. Switch it Up!!
@tg9388
ะัะป ะฑาฑััะฝ
same here, so will this help with noise without hurting our air flow from AirFlow?
@stephenbrasure4331
9 ะฐะน ะฑาฑััะฝ
I've seen where folks are installing both the Airflow and the Silencer. It's something I may consider if there is more documentation of the effectiveness of adding the Airflow after installing the Silencer.
They had those at Tampa RV Show? I missed quite a bit there. Even going two days. It was our first time there, I was like a kid in a candy store !! We definitely would like to quiet our AC.
We have a different brand and love it. Installed it in the living room and bedroom. Didn't think we needed it in the garage. The motorcycle never seems to complain about the noise.

Nice informative video, but the part of Todd screwing up (pun intended with his driver drill turning screws as he points it up) made me crack up. ๐

Totally off the current subject but, Cool T-shirt. Good review too.
$209 smackers? Are you kidding me. Holy crap.
They also say not to use a drill as the screws are easy to strip.
Todd, good job. Would like to know if your GD has a "Barrel" roof. My Cruiser MPG travel trailer has a barrel roof, w/ 2 Furrions. Main living space A/C noise is so loud at this point,even on low fan cool mode, my wife has purchased head phones wired to the TV in order to hear it. My concern is the fitment of the A/C Silencer to the ceiling ๐ค If i new about the WackO silencer i would have checked them out when I was at the Jan 2023 Tampa RV supershow. The up coming 2024 RV Super Show is Jan 17-21, probably go check it out.๐ค
I would get this device but I love my dump valves so much that I cannot get rid of them. Living in Florida and coming in the camper from the outside after being brutally hot, I always open the dump valves to cool off immediately. Thanks for the video though.

Hey John!
Did you ever do the 30 day review? We are thinking of getting one
Would love to hear how it is after 30 days! M
Todd, I can think of a better product for you to endorse than WackO! ๐๐๐ It just kind of suits you brother!
Do they make a silencer for the Furrion AC that have the temperature and power controls on the facia?
Whatโs the verdict? Our AC in our motorhome is LOUD and right above the sitting area so a reduction would be great.
#doer of all things.
Great content Todd. Itโd be interesting to see the 30 day results. Stay safe, stay well and stay Wacko ๐. Till the next video.
Thatโs insane $200!!
What does this product do to the air that was originally output from the intake part? Remember that there we're too closeable vents where air would come out of??? Is that output now inputting into the input of the same AC???? (Real question lol!) You can see these output vents at 1:28, they are in the Open position I wonder if you compared CLOSING the vents at 1:30 to the output after the install? Does closing that vent give you the same airflow as using the shroud???
Dear switch it up before it was so loud I almost could not hear after you quit on the silencer I can hear you at all the way better and it sounded like it was a jet engine on the first like a jet engine is that's what it was sounding like and you almost could not hear you at all when you put on this unit it worked and it sounds like we were able to hear you better and your speaker or your microphone was being able to be picked up more better your friend John Chalker Waterbury Connecticut CC ๐๐
