Hey there, We definitely use DVD's still. We do not have Starlink , so we find ourselves in the boonies and the ability to put in a movie is awesome. Love your videos, keep them coming!

Solid State Memory. Far superior.
To help insulate my windows I basically made a reflect-x sandwich. I glued reflect-x on both sides of a sheet of corrugated plastic that was cut to fit snugly in each of my windows. So, when it is hot or cold outside these panels just fit into the metal frame of all my windows and I pull the shade over them. When not using them they simply set on the floor under the window they go to or they slide behind a door that is always open.

Are you able to provide an image of that? That sounds interesting
@MAPs-fp6fy

Interesting…I’ve successfully used only one layer/slice of reflect-x in my windows. Does using the rest of the sandwich make a noticeable thermal difference ? How did you seal the perimeter edges? Thx!
@TeachAllNations
15 күн бұрын
@@MAPs-fp6fy I never tried a single layer so I can't speak to that. I cut the corrugated plastic and the reflect- x to fit snuggly into the window frame so there is no gap to fill. I just press them in and they stay tight. Then I pull the shade. 👍
No microwave?!? Where the heck do you store bread and hamburger rolls? 😂
We keep a DVD player and a few DVD’s in our rig “ just in case”. Maybe boondocking, no cell or WiFi service.( We don’t have Starlink). You may be stuck inside with heavy rain, or not feeling well, so we have it . Good modifications. Thank you.

Thanks for sharing!
We still have a dvd player on board, actually sometimes 2 of them as we have one just for watching movies outside with the projector on occasion. We also have a media library on hard drives thru a raspberry pie, this enables us to have a few hundred of our favorite movies or TV shows in a very small space(I have them stuck on the wall behind the TV with velcro).
Yes, I use my DVD a lot in the bedroom. We camp a lot in the Forest with no cell or tree free skys. The wife reads and I watch a little video.
@grit5133

A DVD player is good for those of us who camp less and don't have starlink or extra mobile plans. DVDs being outdated means they are cheap at thrift stores. Also our TV is so small you don't notice the quality issue.
@AllAboutRVs

Nice!
I’m not sure what type of metal those windowsills are made out of but I’d guess aluminum. So you may have to glue a flat magnet to the windowsill and then one to the reflect-X. ✌🏽
@Itsa_Mea
Ай бұрын
He could just remove one of the screws and reinstall it with a flat washer behind it. Then the magnet would have something to attract to.
I’ve done the command hooks with wire shelf. One of my favourite mods.
I have the same key less door lock, I took it apart and put 2 pieces of duct tape on the beeper so it is not loud.
Love dvd’s especially when areas with limited WiFi. Starlink is a hit and miss for us.
I'm super excited for the new inverter ACs. I can't wait for models compatible with ducted systems and wall thermostats to come out. I like my "smart" RV thermostat and with how the floorplan is on my model the bedroom wouldn't cool very well without the ducts to dump cool air into there. But I've had an inverter mini-split back home for years and I love it, so I can't wait for the technology to finally make it to RVs.
Mod 23, we use a Micca h.265 player, converted and shrank all our DVD's and BluRay's to files and put all of them on a portal hard drive, entire library of stuff offline and portable, frees up bandwidth, or works where internet is slow, intermittent, or absent. Took a while to convert them all but we didn't lose all our great disc movies, just the space they took up.
@AllAboutRVs

Love that, I might have to do the same!
We use DVD's where we camp as they have awful internet. I like the idea of taking the shower door off. Thanks for the great ideas.
Media player and a 5TB hard drive, small footprint and portability when we don't have internet available.
Thanks for all the advice
Great Video. Keep them coming.
As always, excellent!
We replaced the TV that came with our RV with a built in DVD player in the TV. Works great
I always appreciate your videos.
Great video Jared, we love all your mods!
Great videos…
I use my microwave…to store bread chips etc.
The front power inlet has been my favorite mod. Although, I didn’t consider the safety hazard of having a hot inlet when I use the other inlet until I watched your video where you installed a selector switch. 😬
Thanks for sharing your experience.
Jared I love your video's and the great information you share. I Pray for safe travels for you and your family

Plex server with 16TB. Backup copy on a 16TB hard drive and $100 PC. If internet exists (Starlink) use the former. If not, plug in the latter. Generally great modes, and good ideas. I'd put a shelf on for grill/burner/smoker outside and put whatever appliance on it. Love your ideas - great starting points!
Hey Jared, to mount our reflextex I use snaps, or buttons. You can screw the male side into one of the screws that holds the window frame in place, and the female side can mount directly to the reflextex. As for DVD player. We actually went with a Blu ray as it’s a bit more modern. We’re not full time, and we only use the TV to help entertain on the rainy days. Otherwise we’d rather pay attention to outside. We often camp in areas that don’t have good cell coverage so streaming isn’t really an option. My firm belief is if you have a hard copy of media (movies, music, games), it can not be lost to the digital deletion gods.
I agree with the shower curtain swap with lighter weight, easier cleaning and less maintenance issues.
I upgraded my radio and the new one that has a DVD player included. My TV is next to the radio, so just a short wire and sound comes from main speakers.
Cool!
On the DVD/Streaming question, I have a NAS hooked up to my wifi with a lot of movies and TV (converted from DVDs). Even if I'm somewhere that doesn't have internet, I can connect to my wifi and access those.
You always have THE BEST tips!
@AllAboutRVs

Glad you liked them. You’re too kind.
There is no way I would get rid of the microwave in my rig. Notta!
In regards to the dvd player, we have a smart tv but use an external hard drive that’s got tons of movies on it for those boondocking trips or if you just don’t want to use internet. Hard drive plugs right into the usb on tv. 👍
Thanks Jared! Like 2.4K+
Definitely taking the Ammo can idea. Mostly for the odd ball sewer stuff like the Y connector. Thanks in advance.
You tips are some of my favorites Jared. Thanks again.

Thanks David! I appreciate that.
Thanks for your time in creating the content! It's definitely food for thought. For Mod #10, I mounted the shade so that it has to come up instead of being pulled down. I leave it down about 2 inches from the top so that I can see who is at the door, without them staring at my boxer shorts if the curtain had to come up from the bottom... I recently changed the light switches to "lighted" versions, so that I don't inadvertently leave the front cap lights or the bright side lights on at night, the glowing light is quite the reminder.
We stream movies occasionally when we are in a cell area,but we usually are out of cell service, so, we sometimes use DVDs, still.
We have a VHS with a DVD, plus an AM/FM radio with a cassette player.... Yeah, that's how often we watch TV and listen to music...
Jared I’ll take you dvd and beaker if you don’t want them or need them lol… I need one but have not found one that small. I have a little trailer so every space saving thing helps. Loved the hanging shelves. As always awesome job on this video!😊
Great video Jared. I still use the DVDs - we don't camp enough to justify the spend on Starlink and the monthly fees and we also try not to be watching TV/videos when we camp (of course when raining it's a good option). I like that the DVD does not require ANY external connection - we don't want to get too dependent on connected services, especially when boon-docking...
I do have a DVD player in my motorhome and prefer buying DVDs over buying them from a stream service that could someday just delete your bot videos. Thanks for the video Jared.

Great point.
I still have my DVD player. I full time and volunteer for different state and federal agencies at visitor centers or park entry stations. They give me a full hook up site in exchange for my hours. Many of the sites are in very wooded areas or cell signal is bad. In this case I check out DVDs from local libraries or rent from red box and watch movies whenever I want.
DVD, absolutely. On rainy days, we watch movies, easy peasy.

I have wireless hdmi transmitters, so all of my main entertainment equipment is in the living room where it's used the most. But I can also watch it outside, in the bedroom, or wherever I want to put the TV. I built my own portable battery station before they made the ones available today, so I'm not stringing cords everywhere outside.
Great video. Yes, we have a blue-ray/DVD player and we use it. Our biggest mod was adding 600 watts of solar w/ 3-100 amp lithium batteries, using all Victron components. Also, adding 2-5" square PVC attached to the under belly of the RV for our sewer hoses. Adding the Valterra gate valve to the end of the Black/Gray pipe for dumping tanks definite plus. Keep the videos coming.
@AllAboutRVs
Ай бұрын
That is awesome! Thank you!
I added a smart Blue ray player so I can stream too. I don't travel enough to have star link and find cell reception seems to never be good enough to stream in campgrounds I go to so I think watching movies on DVD/Blue ray is still good to have.
@AllAboutRVs

👍🏼 yes good idea to have it be a smart player as well.
Always great info! Thank you. Did you know you can put shower liners in the washing machine?
Use a server rack shelf for the blackstone. It is metal and perforated on the bottom for ventilation. Easy to remove the blackstone and swap with something else. Another benefit is that if the rig is not level, you are not stuck with a sloping griddle, just shim the legs.
@AllAboutRVs
Ай бұрын
Love that idea. I’m going to try that.
Yes to the dvd. Camp to many places with no signal.
I put reflectix over my door window and the roof vents, to provide some privacy and shade respectively, but I haven't used it on my windows. My camper came with vinyl light-blocking curtains so I didn't really need to block out light. I do use plastic over the windows to help insulate though. I had trouble getting the double sided tape to hold well because of the profile of the window "trim" but I found VHB tape was thick enough to stick out past that little lip and hold it well.
Can you please share the tv wall mount model?! Everything I find is kind of cheap.. thanks 👍
Great video - lot's of good ideas. We do not use a DVD player - if I know we'll be out of coverage - I'll download a few shows from the streaming services to my phone or an ipad and then use that with an HDMI cable to the TV - works great. You can always refresh the shows when you get into coverage.
Hi Jared, Like your videos. One thing I was interested in is the door window blind. I didn't see a link where you got it. It looks real nice and it looks like it fits good. I am thinking about putting a ammo can in. Keep your great videos coming.
Newer tvs often have USB ports that allow you to connect a basic portable hard drive that you can put tons of movies and tv shows, and it takes up far less space than a dvd player and a library of dvds.
We just traded away a 2023 gas motorhome for a 2024 Brinkley TT. We are happy, no, it probably wasn't the best financial decision, but again, we are happy. That's what matters.

For the front bay cooling I have the same vent but I attached a 12v bilge fan used a thermal switch that turns it on and off. But ultimately ended up using a switch. Plan now is to connect try to my cerbo gx to trigger fan. Will probably use a relay for this.
We have that same air fryer! Actually 2…one for the house and one for the RV. Where do you get those little feet to keep it from sliding around?
We have not used our microwave for about 4 years and only set the clock on it. We have talked about getting rid of it both in the RV and in the house. Great idea for use of that space.

I did a video on new trends in batteries and talked about them a bit but I wanted to see how they perform. I haven’t had any problems with them. I’m trying to compile a list and do real testing to put together a battery guide. There are so many now compared to a handful of years ago. Here was that video I mentioned them. kzread.info/dash/bejne/dHx53LZxc7XXdcY.htmlsi=g6ndWvyO3-OoGSfQ
For cooling/ventilation look at AC Infinity. They have some nice temp regulated fans. Also I love DVDs and we have a Free Signal TV with built in dvd that works great. P.S. another excellent video 👍👍 thanks
I download showes and movies off the streaming services before I leave home so when I have no signal I can connect my laptop to the TV and watch whatever I downloaded
we live in our rv 1 yr now i love it i had the CO take out the microwave i have not used one in almost 30 yr when i moved out moms house even then i never used it i tryed to put the air fryer and it fit i have a 10 in 1 they said there scared to put it in because it might get to hot i have no storage i do not use the oven or stove air fryer is also a stove i want to make that a cabinet and were the microwave is i have a retractable elec sockets it will not go down at all alot your mods i love on my rv just do not know how to go about it. i found ppl that can do them but i say RV there no and not walk away they run away guess more dreams
Another great video! Did I miss the links for the shower curtain rod and mounts and curtains/hangers? Thanks! 😊

With all your 110v stuff, you have to RV Park or annoy your neighbor by running a generator? I swapped out my 110v TV and 110v DVD with a dual voltage 110v / 12v TV with DVD combo from amazon. Runs on 12v. The sound is not the best, so I use my JBL Charge 4 as a sound bar under the TV. I don't understand the speakers on the side of RVs, unless you like to annoy your neighbor. I use the JBL Charge 4 for personal listening. Small, light and sounds great!
@AllAboutRVs

Yes a 12v TV would be more efficient but with our inverter on board and solar we can use things like the TV and DVD players without a generator or shore power.
Awe do DVDs, mainly cause we have a few we like to put in a rainy day but more of a backup to streaming. Starlink and Cellular does not work everywhere.
I'm excited to hear about the new air conditioner technology mentioned at 7:05? Can you share anything now?
we don't use a dvd player anymore. we download the movies to our ipad and then use a cable from ipad to hdmi to view them. (ipad to hdmi adapter)

Streaming in a RV park is rude as it takes up a big amount of bandwidth and when everyone does it things slow to a crawl. If you have Starlink then its fine. I put all my content on a thumb drive and have a portable satellite dish that I love as I get service anywhere.
Silly iPhone, it decided your name should be Jason. LOL Jared.

We take an old xbox one in the RV for rainy days. Plays bluray & games.
We have a DVD player that we still use. Do alot of state parks, no internet so no streaming. We don't work from RV so can not justify expenses internet solution like star link just for TV. So free DVD from library for evening TV or rainy days.
