    Great video guys. I recently bought the "big softy" brush and a sheet of frame protector patches in blue. The patches were an exact match to my Gios carbon frame colour (all Gios bikes are a fetching shade of blue , as you may be aware ) so if there are any Gios owners out there then these frame protectors are the ones you need to buy. Keep the videos coming guys , I never miss one!

    It wasn’t until I saw a bike that had the tape loose that I realized that your eyes get pulled straight to the flapping ends. Tighten up that tape friends, and pay attention to the loose ends. Ask a friend to look over your bike and point out things that may look out of place, it’s a good way to bring those tiny things to light.

    It is the season for chain waxing in my beloved latin America as well 😎. A question: do your detailing brushes have stiff bristles? This, as well as an inspirational coffee mug, are what I would like to order from you store (currently at Brussels, Belgium). Also, do you carry Campagnolo cables? I've read those are different.

  • @Bikespeeds

    @Bikespeeds

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi Carlos. The Detailing brushes are a medium ish bristle. In no way to stiff to use on anything but if you want them stiffer we’ve learned ourselves to cut them down. Our cables look to be the same as campagnolo but we actually don’t have them to compare with so we would recommend measuring your own ends to see if they’re the same as ours. Love your videos! They are very calming and I’ve gained a great deal of knowledge watching them. What’s your take on the whole rim brake vs. disc debate? I’m very much in the camp of the 7kg bike with mechanical groupset, visible cables, rim brakes and aluminium wheels but the bike industry is moving further and further away from this. I think we reached “peak bike” in 2019/2020 and can’t see how these heavy aero disc brake bikes costing £10k+ would in any way add to my cycling enjoyment. I descended over 100,000m in the Alps last year, and never once did I wish I had “better” brakes!

    Waxed chain convert here too! New SRAM chain fresh from the box, degreased and plunged in a paraffin/PTFE mixture. After drying and cooling I cracked the chain as you do with the tube clamped in the vice. Mounted the result on my S-Works drivetrain and took it for a spin… it keeps jumping on and off cogs, both front and back because it just seems to stay on top of the teeth of the cogs… just can’t figure out what I’ve done wrong. I’ve removed all excess wax and made the chain flexible but it still doesn’t work. Any ideas/tips?

    I don't recall ever seeing V brakes on a road bike before. Cantilever, centerpull, side pull, double pivot! Leverage is leverage and the only difference is rigidity of the arms, or lack of. The market now dictates disk brakes, because rim brakes on carbon fiber rims make no practical sense. Perhapse disks are best, but the marketeers have had their fun and profit along the way. I had been waiting for somebody to bring back mechanical drum brakes to become the next thing! Too simple and reliable though. I've been disappointed with waxed chains. It needs to be redone far too often. Single speed chains are cheap enough and no team car will ever follow me! 10 ways to mount the 1/8" width chainring also makes things last a while! Smiles per hour is the most important thing.
