Rusty Broken Gressel Vise Restoration - Restoration Videos.
Hello again after a long break. In this Project, I present you the restoration of a Gressel vise, made in Switzerland. This vise was beaten up pretty bad and the Project has been long and rough. Vise’s jaws were especially in bad shape because of aggressive working that has been done on them. There was a broken piece of the body under the one of the jaws too. I have decided to weld and reshape that. Similarly, jaw’s upper part was full of grinding marks so I needed to weld those places too. Even though anvil part of vises are made for light hammering work, I bet this vise was used as an anvil to hammer out cold pieces of steel. Because of all these bad parts, I needed to use the welder a lot in this project. I used milling machine to rough out the welded pieces and in the and I used surface grinder and hand sanded them to finish. Instead of polishing to protect from rust, I used matte stainless steel coating on parts of the vise. It created a cool look in my opinion. Like I have done before, I used hammered green paint on this vise. I didn’t paint the Gressel markings but instead polished it and left the smaller letterings on the vise unpainted and same as the body color. That way I got a plain and beautiful. Because the old jaws were so hard, it would not be easy to repair them which I decided to not use the old jaws and made new ones. Newly made jaws are my favorite part of this project. What was your favorite part of the project? Don’t forget to comment about your favorite part of it. I need to remind that I read and like every each comment. I hope you like this video. I look forward to see your comments about it, please like the video if you enjoyed it. See you in the next project, take care. I have realized I made two mistakes with the subtitles, but I came to the realization after uploading the video so I was not able to change them. First one is "hammerd paint", which should be "hammered paint". Second one is "ekin anvil workhop" which should be "ekin anvil workshop", which you can see more of on Instagram at @ekinanvil

We are getting dangerously close to My Mechanics quality, which is the highest compliment I can give.
Not all of us can do restorations as thoroughly and meticulously as "My Mechanics", but this guy can. Proper job. This one earned you another sub
"For Sale, Like New, Never Used, Gressel Vice". Will ship in like new condition box it came in, maybe? Thank you for the fantastic shows, and the time to make them for everyone to enjoy.

I like how you keep improving. You did a better job here than the Wilton bullet vice. This is a better restoration, better tools, better editing, better lighting - overall, just a better video. Subscribed.

Once again perfection, I can imagine some of the "old heads" from Gressel looking at this and thinking, when did we start making these again ? Good joke for them 🤐
God, i saw many videos with vice restoration but this is absolutely the best..
my only vice is using my only vice to repair a vice nice job getting the locating pins out with a homemade puller. very ingenious.
*_Another masterpiece! Such a pleasure to watch! Thank you 💕_*
Another excellent example of a true master at work where is a gressel vise made

Great job Abé 👌
it would be great if you restored the big English vice RECORD No.84, or other , in the future. Record vise has a great Quick Release function . and it would be great to make Prismatic and Standard brass or copper vise jaws. that would be a perfect video.
Broke my heart with the plastic filler.
An object of beauty, way more pleasant to the eyes than most modern art. Congratulations!
