*It's always a good idea to make a double flare anytime your are connecting high compression lines together. This repair was not done by Nthefastlane and should be used as a steps tool to guide you. Just add the double flare instead of the single flair as shown in this video. There is no longer a way to add notes to videos, KZread disabled this feature.

Warning. I have repaired cars for 50 years. Do not go by personal experience, You MUST do double flares on all break lines. These single flares are totally unsafe. DANGER

Ummmm how do you have a shop if you don't know the different between a single, double and bubble flare????
That was a single flare you need a double flare for brake lines You are going to get somebody hurt big time Get a clue!

My brakeline rusted on my 91 Toyota Celica. This video is perfect for me, as i have to do the exact same thing. Thanks. I see i'll have to use double flare, as this method is unsafe over time. Shame on you for teaching half-assed techniques, but good for pointing me in the right direction

Yeah Frl wtf are they using a union for
Man that was uplifting yea I am going to buy tools and get it done merry christmas and a happier year
be nice if you told every body that you have to double flare the tube so it does'nt fail
Was looking to see you guys do a proper brake pipe repair on one of these old buggies. I am sadly disappointed to see a single flare which may be ok for an ice maker but definitely not acceptable for automotive brake lines. Echoing what other commenters have already stated.
That flare is good for a drinking fountain, NEVER use a single flare on ANY type of brake line. They should be double flared

What's a double flare?
Thanks I just learn a new skill
thanks
is the master cylinder empty as you do the repair. just wondering, I'm new at this...thanks.
How long was the brake line from the front to the rear so i can know what length to buy??
WARNING *** This is not a good job! It is clearly done by amateurs who know enough to be dangerous. Nothing is more important than your brake system so it must be done correctly. NEVER use a single flare on an automotive brake line. It must be an Inverted Flare (IFF). Those "threads" as you call them, are 3/8" inverted flare NUTS for 3/16" brake line. Some M/Cs use a 7/16" inverted flare nut, also for 3/16" brake line. BTW, metric brakes use the same exact brake line.
@Zeberka767

When screwing the flare nut to the union, should it be tightened until all the threads are in as mentioned in the video?

Good vid. Underneath the car!
What a joke! My entire family got a good laugh out of this one.
thanks a lot guys good job . I will buy a kit and do it myself .
How important is it to do a double flare? I noticed that the mechanic only did a single flare on the broken ends of the brake line.
Howd you get the black cover off?
he put a bible verse at the start to compensate for the single flair. maybe he has another video on using compression fittings on brake lines too?
In the video you only did a single flare. I thought that you have to do a double flare for brake lines, because single flare may crack and break under the pressure.
what that big hardline under the car for?
Can you explain gravity feed. I've tried it before when I've redone lines and it didnt work worth crap. Is the idea for the fluid to push air out of the bleeders or for the air to rise out of the reservoir
@Nthefastlane
9 жыл бұрын
Yes, fill the reservoir to the top and crack all the bleeder nipples until they have a constant drip..once they do, that means all the air is out of the lines. If it's not working, sometimes to get the process started you have to pump the pedal fast and on the last pump pull the pedal back up if it hasn't by itself. Also the position of the vehicle matters. Air bubbles travel up so make sure the vehicle is angled in a way that the bubble can travel up to begin the dripping process.

@@Nthefastlane You are joking. right? If not, then you should really go down to your local Community College, and sign up for Auto Repair 101. Brake lines are not filled with water.. Was your daddy a plumber? Also, the guy doing the line repair needs to be fired, before somebody gets hurt...
Why doesn’t anyone show how to remove the plastic thing attached to all the lines?
@thermowet13

Have you figured it out yet....am stuck there plastic piece holding the brakes lines
double flare would have been a better option...at least did not go with compression fitting like some other youtube guy did.
In house plumbing great job . in car repair you need bubble wall steel brake lines an s you skipped one step you need to start a dubble flare then use the flair to finish. To get a rubble flair . if that car went in for inspection and it was leaking I would fail your job . and rip it out and replace it from front to back
who knows how to fix a 1996 Infiniti I30 the brake line system the going from the front to the back
i wouldnt even cut and join like that, in all honesty either i replace the entire line brand new, or i wait until i have the money saved to do it.
@joescheller6680

so you going to come and pull the motor out to replace the new line mine is in behind motor installed before the motor and not intended to ever replace. the line is plum good except couple inches off the flex hose off the caliper.

Holy hell. Where's the double flair?
DOUBLE flare ALL brake lines whether using a brass union or not, it is DOT, you cause an accident because of this flare failing, whoever did it is liable in court for the consequences of their negligence. With all this trouble, why wasn't the entire line replaced and a lot of pointless time and parts avoided.
@drevil5546
Жыл бұрын
Because of the complexity of bending the brake lines and needing to take down the gas tank to do it properly. I personally would do one long hard line.
that's not safe at all they didn't double flare the line. he only single flare witch it can pop off the line
@TheChosenOne148
7 жыл бұрын
Yeah but they used a single flare, which isn't as secure. For a brake line it's strongly recommended to do a double flare at each of the unions.
This is illegal in the states and in Europe not to mention dangerous. You need a double flair for the US or a bubble flair for Europe. Brakes can get up to 1500 psi and a 45degree flair is not strong enough
ATG & I say, please DO NOT do what these two people are doing. It's wrong & very dangerous of having brake failures! A Double Flare or a Bubble Flare has to be performed that the end of the line.
He isn't doing a double flare. Why not necessary ?

The union much not have been for double flare. Its pretty much just as good
Doing this hack repair is illegal in MA and CT.
Jesus guys, get a Eastwood catalog and buy a proper set of tools. Single flares for gasoline and canister vapor returns, inverted flares for brake lines and use the nickel/copper brake line tubing in the curvy brake line runs ..
That horrific intro and then you hit me with a bible excerpt. That's a quick NOPE.

That guys going to kill you, single flares are not rated for that much pressure
so what the hell every one is saying a single flair is not good enough, are you making a liar out of them or you want someone hurt
SHOCKING!
thanks nigga
just use a compression fitting..
yikes
This guy should be banned. Has no idea what he's doing. Somebody's gonna get killed with his repairs.
this is the worst explanation of anything ive listened to.
Cut the video as soon as the Biblical Scripture showed up on the screen. Based on the negative comments, I would suggest a technical manual in lieu of a Bible for brake line advice!!
I'm a retired mechanic you don't do a regular player on a brake line the man this video does not know what he's doing this could cause the brake line to leak and come loose and cause someone to have a wreck and get someone killed the man that video does not know what he's doing please do not take this man's advice he's not making the proper type of flare for the brake lines do don't make videos if you don't know what you're doing
