Отличное видео. Соболезную англоговорящей аудитории. Для нас говорить "ы" естественно, а для них настоящая мука.

Huh, for Romanian speakers ы is just another vowel. We spell it as "î" if it's at the beginning of a word (a înnota - to swim) or "â" if it's in the middle (rând - row). But we don't add that "i' sound. Well, there's the the singular form, 3rd person of the verb "to be": Îi interesant (Ιt's interesting) but, as you can see, it's two vowels, î and i rather than one. And that's the only time we use these two sounds together. As far as I can think, nothing else uses "îi". Anyway, hearing you pronounce ы it's like anyone around starting to say something: Îi... (It is...) (Well, the correct form of the verb is "este" read as "yeste" which is shortened to "e" read as "ye", the form mentioned above is more like a shorter version of the short version now that I think about it)

It's certainly not in English! To me, it sounds a bit like ER in English, but a little more forward in the mouth.
