The Mi-24 is in a class of its own, this is the only aircraft that is also the most commonly employed attack helicopter of all time and was used by as many as 60 countries.
This helicopter is a response to the AH1 Huey Cobra.
The US Army's development and employment of gunships and attack helicopters during the Vietnam War persuaded the Soviets of the benefits of armed helicopter ground support, resulting in backing for the Mi-24's development.
In the 1960, it was used as an anti-tank or close-air-support rotorcraft, and because of its massive size, and thanks to its large cabin it could fit up to eight fully equipped troops, it also has a considerable assault transport capability.
There are many variants mainly the Mi 24A which was the first production variants and the Mi 24 D as well as the The Mi 24P, also known as Izdeliye 243 which the NATO called Hind.

Correction from Viewers Comment 1) @Lucky Star Ver nice video but 1 remark, at 5:51and 5:55 it's ATTiTUDE Indicator (artificial horizon). Nothing to do with the altitude. (He has 40 yrs of avionics experience)🐐 2)Simon Brügger 9.36 tons ≠ 8500 kg :) 3)Rafael Pelizzon Amazing work! Just one appointment. The main rotor in the MI-35 turns clockwise, instead of counterclockwise. The blades are pretty well modelled, but they move backwards at the animation.

If I might add: the orientation of the tail rotor is neither accidental nor special for the Mi24 or derivates or indicative for "eastern" or "western" aircraft. In fact a lot of U.S. operated aircraft usually have the tail rotor on their left side, such as the MH-53, AH-64, AH-1, AH-6, etc. And I say usually, because it even differs within the same model sometimes, i.e. the AH-1 and the AH-1Z. Afaik the orientation of the tail rotor is connected to the downwind effects of the main rotor, if and how that would affect the either pushing or pulling capabilities of the tail rotor and simply if one or the other side and setup is more or less efficient. There is no rule and most certainly no eastern or western orientation.

Functionally, the Mi-24 is basically just an airborne BMP-2. She can carry as much firepower if not more, is almost immune to light caliber rifle rounds, and has the same theoretical troop capacity on top of everything. And the soviet managed to make them cheap enough to operate, easy enough to maintain. No wonder why they are the most adopted helicopter in the world.

Excellent analysis and graphic presentation, well done! Just one complaint, MI-34?! It is a completely different helicopter, of newer production and has no combat capabilities. Only the MI-24 and MI-35 as its newer and export versions exist. As well as a small series of degraded, much worse variants produced for the countries of the Middle East mainly, marked MI-25.

Mi helicopter with turret 12.7 mm= mi-24v. Mi helicopter with 30mm GHS cannon= Mi-35P. Mi helicopter with 23mm GSH cannon is the Mi-35M. Which is the latest variants of the Hind series. But unlike the MI-35p, the Mi-35M is unable to drop bomb, and has a non retractable landing gear system. It's powered by BK-2500-02 turboshaft engine.

for this one Helicopter, i chose the Mi-24D, that's my favorite of all the variants, because there's a gatling gun canon.... In my opinion, this attack helicopter is very suitable for the army, because apart from being used to attack, it can also carry eight soldiers. if it is filled by eight special troop force units, then just imagine if an enemy area is attacked by ten of these helicopters, then it means the same as being attacked by eighty special troopers from the infantry, hemm that is massive punch attack big damage

SUPERHIND MKIII B UPGRADE for Algeria The operational application of the Mi-24 assault helicopter has been significantly enhanced by an in-house ATE programme for Algeria . The upgraded capability of the SUPERHIND MK3 provides for night operational capability with improved weapons systems incorporating a duel feed 20mm turreted cannon, laser beam rider tandem warhead anti-armour missile, bombing functions integrated to the main stabilised sight and improved self protection. Weapons delivery profiles have been brought into line with current modern attack helicopters by the integration of cockpit improvements and upgraded ground attack and self-defence capabilities. Digital enhancement of detection, recording, navigation, sighting, control, armament and armament delivery provide the SUPERHIND MK3 with a significant increase in operational capability and utilisation. ATE has furthermore designed a Western logistics support system for the total aircraft. The new support philosophy focuses on the increase of calendar life and the removal and extension of times between overhauls of components. Supply of new documentation, spares, field services and expertise form part of the ATE logistics package for the SUPERHIND MK3 ATE has initiated an upgrade to the Superhind MkIII B by removing 2t of mass from the aircraft and integrating a digital glass cockpit, which will give the helicopter a Nap-Of-The-Earth (NOE) capability whilst maintaining its firepower. A new cockpit-layout will provide unsurpassed visibility. COMPOSITE HELICOPTER BLADES ATE has commissioned a facility to manufacture Mi-24 main rotor blades in composite material, to give the blades an infinite life. This facility will increase ATE’s ability to act as original equipment manufacturer of Russian Mil Helicopters. For all versions of the SuperHind a wide range of other options is available from ATE and other local defence and avionics companies. Amongst others these include: * The fire and forget Mokopa missile (Denel). * Laser warning systems (Avitronics). * Missile warning system (Avitronics). * A Health and Usage Monitoring System (HUMS) from AMS. * Digital-based avionics. * Flight management system. * Sand filters (Aeroflo/CSIR). * Infrared suppressors. * Digital autopilot.

Basically, when Soviet engineers think of making anything for war, they always say "Hmmmm... what can be used in WW3 and WW4 and be fixed by a Gopnik with a wrench and has enough firepower to kill an entire city?" with a pint of vodka.

Great simulation and graphics, thou one major error..You have the rotor blades rotating incorrectly and the blade tips are backwards. In this form there would be no downward thrust.
