This is the 5th generation Sukoi 57 or some called this the T 50 pak fighter jet which is a Russian internal designation.
What is a 5th-generation fighter jet?
On paper, the Russian Engineers define a fifth generation fighter jet as
One that can do all of these.
Go 80 p% supersonic cruise without using afterburner.
It should Have Stealth or Low-probability-of-intercept radar.
It should have A high degree of maneuverability to counter Air to air combat.
Advanced avionics systems and Network or data fusion capabilities to track 100 targets and engage more than 10 targets.
The 5th gen aircraft should be able to carry a number of projectiles in the Internal Weapon bay as well as an auto cannon.
and last but not the least it should be able to land and take off on short Runways.

I band may detect them, but it can’t target them because it’s resolution is far too low. All it can do is tell you there’s a stealth jet in that general area. In truth, stealth like the F-22 and F-35 aren’t all that worried about being detected. They don’t get too upset that you know they’re around. They just don’t want to be targeted and I-band can’t do that. It’s also sort of useless to be on the jet itself because low band radar arrays on the ground can do the same thing and most countries have that already. The SU57’s stealth is so poor it has already been detected, targeted and killed before that matters anyway.

  • @srcastic8764

    @srcastic8764

@@VeniVidiMortui that’s the F-35 mission in a nutshell also. The difference is the SU57’s stealth capabilities are really inferior and the f-35’s stealth capability is incredibly good. So, in theory at least, the SU isn’t going to win at that game because it is going to be detected and targeted first and from farther away. The F-35’s are all linked together also and can fight as one unit, can see what each other are seeing at the flick of a switch even. It’s just phenomenal. There’s really no comparison.

  • @srcastic8764

@@VeniVidiMortui you must have a reading comprehension problem. I didn’t say they don’t care that you know WHERE they are. I said they don’t care that you know they’re in the area. Low band can not give an exact location and cannot target. What they do care about is you knowing their exact location and being targeted. Low band radar can’t do this, SAMS can’t do it, and vectored aircraft cant locate them with their high band radar. And no, I didn’t mean the SU can detect the F35 first. The F35 is far more advanced and can detect farther out. I think you may be conflating my response to someone pointing out the low band radar pod on the SU in addition to the X band in the nose, which again low band is not accurate in locating, just detecting presence. Think of low band like a radar detector in a car. You know there’s a radar out there but you have no idea where. So the F-35 still has the advantage. I have no idea why you say the SU has a larger area of situational awareness. In truth the F35’s networking ability means each pilot can see what every other f35 out there can see at the flip of a switch and what they’re targeting means they each have an area of situational awareness limited only by how many 35’s are in the theater. Precision and unlimited range. And they can each target far more targets at once. So I don’t contradict myself, you just can’t read.

You wrote a complete nonsense. Negative loads are applicable only to the pilot, airframe, like Su-57, or F-22, no matter which way, so they are measured in one digit. In the case of the Su-57, it is 10-11g. If we talk about the load on the wing structure, then the working loads on the aircraft in flight are approximately 67% of the calculated ones, and loads of about 90% in operation cannot be in principle. In the case of the Su-57, the destruction occurs at 104% of the calculated.

Not to mention that the reason why, India backed out of the deal with Russia on purchasing dozens of SU57s was because India found out that the SU57 was no more "stealthy" than a slick F18 Block 3. Lmao. Also, the engines that are advertised to be on the SU57, are not actually on any of em because Russia is having issues with em and cannot manufacture any of them right and can't manufacture anymore than like 2 a year. The SU57 has rivets all over em(which is horrible for stealth) lol and has gaps all over em and the MASSIVE air intakes give off a huge radar cross section. Also, the end/rear of the engines have ZERO heat absorbing material on em and gives off a MASSIVE heat track. Lmao

Russia have a very different mindset about aviation and how it suppose to perform, and especially about this fuss about stealth in general. So engineers are not fixed on idea of stealth by any cost (like you would pay for stealth by limiting thrust vectors on F-22), but rather compromising on stealth capability to have unmatched maneuverability instead. That mean, the Su-57 is about as stealth as it can be, but only if you scan it by radar from front or from side. It's RCS is just the same as it is with F-22 or F-35, no difference there. However, if you look at RCS from a rear.. In this case it's only more stealthy than any current gen 4 or gen 4+ jet, but definitely not on F-22 territory. So if you scan it front or side - it's F-22 or F-35, but if you scan it from rear where engines are, then it is a different story. This compromise resulted in a very unique and so far unmatched decision that helps to compensate for bigger RCS from rear, which is not common to what is considered to be 5 gen fighter. Which is why it's the first fighter to mount a DIRCM system, with one turret mounted behind the canopy and another mounted under the cockpit providing jet with yet another layer of protection to compensate for rear RCS. If opposing radar would detect engine signature from rear this layer of protection will give it additional edge and combined with extra maneuverability and ability to change thrust vectoring on fly, it suppose to effectively mitigate the threat because once jet is turned forward and flying backward, the missile can't lock onto it anymore and IRST and DIRCM only making it worse for missile trying to find it's signature and for radar to keep it. However, there is more to it. There was another reasoning behind it, and it's because Russia believes that stealth technology will not live for long because radars are much more ahead of their time already, and it's going to be even more effective with years with new weapons as well. Since Russia can't afford just wasting money to create a dedicated stealth jet because it is inevitably will be obsolete later, they instead created jet that can withstand time, in order so there wouldn't be any need to create new jet to compensate for it. This fighter will be effective as it is at least 2 generations. Even when stealth will no longer be effective and radar technology will nullify it's use, this fighter jet will be ready for it with DIRCM and unmatched maneuverability while others would need to create completely new designs to keep up with time. Most likely mirroring the design of Su-57 and especially DIRCM capability. Essentially it's one jet for 2 generations ahead without any need to waste more money on new one later. Ingenious decision. Peak engineering. I am a big fan of this beauty.

What makes you think Su-57 frontal RCS is even near F-35's or F-22's? Even their own patents claim an RCS 1,000 times bigger than F-35 and F-22. IRST is a sphere, one of the worst possible shapes for stealth. It uses radar blockers to cover the exposed engine since it only has partial s-duct. The Super Hornet uses radar blockers, will you claim it's as effective at hiding its engine signature as true stealth? And then you have RAM that's sparingly used for the Su-57, only for leading edges and radar dome basically. All moving vertical stabilizers and levcons are also bad. That's why F-22 has a fixed inlet and F-35 uses divertless bumps. Another thing you've failed to realize is that the exact same technology that benefits radars benefits jammers. Jamming power required is directly proportional to the RCS of the aircraft you're trying to cover. This means that if have an aircraft with a 1m2 RCS and it needs 5 kW of jamming power to reduce burn-through range to 150 km, an aircraft with an RCS of 0.01 would only need 50 Watts of power from the jammer to achieve the same burn-through. Burn-through is the range at which the radar return signal from the radar is more powerful than the jammer's signal and thus can see through the jamming. Here's the interesting thing though, an aircraft with 1% of the RCS will have it's burn-through detection range reduced ten-fold if you use the same jamming power. So if the burn-through for 1m2 aircraft is 600 km, it'd be 60 km against an aircraft with an RCS of 0.01m2. Also, Su-57 MAWS is comprised of the 101KS-U, which is UV-based. It only detects a SAM or AAM while the rocket is burning. Modern missiles and rockets try to reduce their UV signature by using special propellants to make the smoke less detectable in that spectrum, but that's besides the point. Su-57 has a claimed detection range of 30 km against SAMs and 20 km against AAMs. That means an AIM-120D will easily go unnoticed and the Su-57 will be completely unaware until the AMRAAM goes pitbull. Nothing a DIRCM can do against a radar guided missile. The nail in the coffin is that not only is the F-35 stealthier, but it has a more powerful radar. The AN/APG-81 has a larger TRM count vs the Byelka N036 (1626 vs 1552) as well as being of the Notch design which is better than Slot design because of greater bandwidth and radar gain. This isn't like the movies or Ace Combat, dodging missiles is no easy feat. Especially if you only get 10 secs of warning time max. And especially if you need to dodge another one immediately after.

@@apolloaero It was rather hard to read. Next time please divide your sentences in column. As for the topic: "The F-22 (American fighter of the fifth generation - IF-AVN) has 0.3-0.4 sq.m. We have similar visibility requirements," Davidenko said." To add more new information about changes to the serial model of a jet which is now in service: RAM is now present everywhere even in the inlets. The ducts are now curved, using a new design on shape with RAM and radar blockers. Serrated nozzles. I see your point, and i think i am exaggerated it's stealth capability as it might not be exactly similar to F-22 or F-35, but just good enough to perform in combat conditions it was built for. It should be clear and i said it previously, that Russia have a very different mindset about 5th gen fighters and aviation in general. As i said, they can't afford to just built dedicated fighter for it to inevitably became obsolete in near future. Because it will became obsolete. And essentially that's just wasted money. So instead they designed something more close to fighters that will be in use after stealth will became obsolete. They are planning ahead so to speak. Truth is, in real modern war - planes don't fly up in sky. So this stealth capability worth shit regardless. And they are aware of this fact. Which is why DIRCM was incorporated in the design along with many other unique ideas. I am not mentioning armaments, because that's a whole different topic. They are not building plane to harass some middle east countries without AA defense or fighter jets you know.. Or how about the very fact they are using the one and only coaxial assault helicopter in the world. And US only now trying to adapt same technology to create their own version. That should tell you something about different mindset on the matter of aviation in general. It's not just about planes, it's about everything.

@MrZlocktar so you're taking another organization's word over the manufacturer's regarding RCS? I had no idea they had their own F-22s and F-35s to test. How convenient that our stealth fighters are 3-4 times less stealthy than the Su-57 according to their claims. And no, just look at any Su-57 from serial production. They don't make extensive use of RAM. You can tell by the colorful paint schemes they chose to adopt. Or is russia so advanced that they're the only ones in the whole entire world that can make colorful RAM? As I've said, leading edge RAM treatment, treatment on IRST when turned back and not in use, obviously inlets and in the duct itself. But most of it has no treatment. Did you completely disregard my comments on radars and jammers? Let me ask you something, why is it that russian soldiers don't use red combat uniforms? With all of the advancement in thermals, NVGs and such, there's no point in camo, amirite? Stealth is about delaying detection. And as I've said, jamming is more effective when the aircraft you're supporting has a smaller RCS. DIRCM doesn't work against radar guided missiles. What good is it if the Su-57 will be caught completely unaware thanks to the antiquated UV-based MAWS it employs. AIM-120D has a NEZ of 45 km and max range of 160 km, these rockets only fire for 10 seconds. The 101KS-U won't see it, and the RWR won't go off until the AIM-120D goes pitbull. A modern missile can pull 30G, more than the 9G or 10 or 11G Su-57 claims. You can't notch, nor climb down to thicker air to rob the missile of its energy if you don't know you've been fired upon. You claim the Su-57 is future-proof. But how is that the case when it's already obsolete against the threat it was made to defeat today? It's no Raptor nor Lightning 2 killer. And it's not like it could be used to hunt AWACS. They'll get detected at over 200 km and AWACS would simply coordinate the nearest fighter to intercept before the missiles Su-57 launches can go terminal. That's if it doesn't get detected by the F-35 or F-22 1st. Su-57 is a bigger target with inferior sensors. F-35 was quoted as -30dBsm in its infancy, and later on as -40dBsm. Probably against X-band and higher. The role you envision for a future Su-57 seems to be multirole, something most modern aircraft already do today. Has Ukraine taught you nothing? Fly high and you're prey to SAMs. Fly low and MANPADS will get you. That's the reason why the B-2B has dropped its mission as a low-level penetration bomber. It could still find use as a Maritime Strike bomber though. The solution against SAMs, MANPADS and other air defenses is a robust SEAD/DEAD campaign. The effectiveness of such a campaign can be exacerbated with stealth and jamming.

What I always liked about Russian Aircraft is the control stick is higher. As soon as you move your hand forward the stick is right there. You don’t have to reach down. The stick on the right-hand console is the perfect place to have it on fighter aircraft. When I saw that on the F-16 back in the I was impressed. A fly-by-wire stick that is not obstructing the view of the instruments. They’re placing the control stick on the right and left consoles on newer passenger aircraft too.

there are a lot of important features missing like the capability of beint able to fire missiles in high angles of attack and the tail radar and jammer and the L band radar in the leading edges of the wing. Also radar absorbent coating is all over the plane not just the gray parts (this is not a new or an exotic technology), the tech looking paint job is to make it less detectable on IR cameras. It's airframe is also almost completely made out of composites which are also less detectable on radar signature.

No such thing as L-band radar on the wings. Sukhoi nor NIIP ever made that claim. The arrays are for comms and IFF. Plus, even if they were for radar, they'd be terrible. Compare their size to other modern russian L-band radars, they're massive and thr ones on the wings are tiny. That means they would need much more power and much more processing power to compensate for the terrible gain. That much power doesn't fit in the Su-57. Plus the arrays are a sinlge row, that means no vertical scanning.

It is possible that the point of the thrust vectoring isn't purely supermaneuverability or short take-offs, but also overall stability. (I think) an F-14 pilot, who flew in formation behind an F-22, saw that the nozzles of the jet were twitching many times a second. The fly-by-wire system of the F-22 uses thrust vectoring to correct the flight path of the aerodynamically unstable airframe. The same could probably be said about the Su-57. It is much more aerodynamically efficient to use thrust vectoring instead of the flight control surfaces in that situation, as it reduces the drag of those moving surfaces and might potentially reduce the probability of detection by radar. Another theory is that sudden strange, unnatural changes of the flight path caused by the thrust vectoring might somehow mess with a missiles ability to predict the aircraft's movement.

Back in the days, there was speculation that the Ussr injected the stealth technology in to USA, so that they can have flying ducks. Slow planes with less armament. Of course this isn't true, but what if the f-35 is being targeted way closer to the SAMs by 30km, compared to the SU-57? The speed difference and armament will very much even the field. Not to mention the range, since you will be able to launch SU-57s further within Russian territory, which gives it actual stealth advantage.

Actually, Su-57 has radio-absorbing paint cover on engines, it's transparent and based on ceramics (because of engine heat). Modern modifications of F-15, F-16 and also Su-27, Su-30 and Su-35 have that type of paint on engines too. F-35 has flat nozzle to reduce infrared heat trace, but flat nozzle is not capable of thrust vectoring, which reduces maneuverability. Engineers chosen thrust vectoring on Su-57 to keep maneuverability. To reduce heat trace they decided to work on fuel burning efficiency of jet engine and they're still working on it, new engine is not in serial production. Su-57 has multi-radars, it's been officially shown and so on. F-22 was designed with same multi-radars, just F-22 was too expensive at that time and government asked to make it cheaper, so finally engineers removed multi-radars from F-22 to reduce unit cost. Important feature of Su-57 multi-radars might be ability to detect missle strikes from behind and guide own missle to intercept enemy missle (it has designed to have at least one missle, placed backwards to others). But officially it's not approved, just appeared information of such tests, results are still unknown.

T50 is prototype, like T10 for Su 27. And PAK FA means - Perspektivniy Aviacionniy Komlex Frontovoy Aviacii, what means Perspective Aviation Complex of Front-line Aviation. Also right now Su 57 has almost same engines like Su 35, it is as powerful as F22, but not as powerful as izdelie 30, can't fly Mach 2 without afterburner like izdelia 30, also has no stealth compared izdelie 30. Russia said that in 2023-25 it will put these engines on the Su 57. then the serial operation of the Su 57 will begin..

In my opinion Putin wouldn't be caught doing some of the remarks he made in the last 48h if SU57 wasn't, if not fully operational, at least ready to show the west a sample of what they're up against if or when Russia acquires large numbers of them.

Russia is poorer than Italy? That's tidings tho! As a sociologist (PhD student yet) I find this question debatable enough. At least in PPP terms, the Russian economy is 6 positions higher than the Italian economy. Also, I wouldn't call Italy a poor country, despite the horrific southern regions. The same problem is typical for Russia - some regions are very developed, and some are very poor, because with the advent of the market economy production there has become unprofitable and meaningless, and if there is no production, then there is no well-being. In any case, there is no correlation here. Russia stands on the wreckage of socialist civilization, so it is able to develop former technology and have its own production. Especially in the military-industrial complex, which was not taken over by foreign capital after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Russia (USSR) was the first in the world to build a modular space station. And now Russia has its own module on the ISS (modules from other countries are shared). Nowadays, Russia is a leader in nuclear power and already uses fast-neutron reactors. It also has a nuclear icebreaker fleet, which is being actively replenished. While the U.S. is building nuclear-powered aircraft carriers, Russia is building nuclear-powered civilian ships (icebreakers and floating nuclear power plants). Russia built the world's first nuclear power plant, the first to launch a man into space. And now it has all these technologies and is actively developing them (although it could do better). The issue of Russia's advanced technologies and achievements is a matter of media coverage. And the world's media is owned by Western capital, which does not benefit from coverage of such issues. And the Russian media themselves are not up to the task.

@@alexanderlunacharsky96 Very good points. I never understood why they underestimated Russia. Perhaps seeing the 90's convinced them Russia is lost. But after 30 years Russia has become what the USSR was (not at its peak) but following a very parallel path. The Brains are there, the Tech is there, The resources are there. The textbooks are there. To Underestimate Russia is a very foolish outlook. One thing though, a lot of the USSR achievements were made also by satellite states, which today Russia lacks, so its still a long road. Lets not forget, the tech of the 50's and 70's is not the tech of today, and under these huge sanctions, it may be a very long road. Sure the food is in the stores, but what happens when Russia will need MRI machines and its "allies" succumb to anti Russian Sanctions?.
