Colonel Savin was surrounded in Grozny. Being under heavy fire, he decided to withdraw the fighters from the ring in order to save them. The ring was broken through, but the colonel himself was killed. Colonel Savin was awarded the title of hero posthumously.

I knew a Russian guy I used to game with. I was young, he had to leave to go serve somewhere he wouldn't say. He said he would come back but I never heard from him again. His brother found out about us by getting his stuff, told me he was killed, but wouldn't tell me where. To this day, all I can remember is that neither one of us wanted him to serve because for some reason we both knew this was going to happen without realizing it. He shared a lot of songs from this playlist to me before he left. It really fecking hurts finding them again. War fecking sucks even if you don't go through it yourself

Today, one may watch a funeral from Russia of some young soldier whose girlfriend is crying and another with a Ukrainian grandfather mourning the loss of much of his family and even if you are very empathic naturally, the whole affair comes much, much closer and does so much, much faster. I therefore think even though war has overall remained the same in its absolute effect, aside from the obvious details aso. the way we perceive it has certainly changed a lot. Remember how differently people felt even during the relatively young WW1? Far fewer common people cheer today.

This is gold. I listen to this when I'm playing DayZ. Sitting near my campfire in my cabin, up north away from all the fighting. Eating and resting to have the energy to keep on going. Sometimes strangers pass by my cabin, we change some words and they keep on travelling. We both wish good luck to ourselves. From survivor to another.

I'm from the US. I don't understand a word that's being said here, and quite frankly I have no idea how I even got here. But the music is beautiful, and extremely emotional. I may not understand the lyrics, but I can definitely understand what sort of emotions inspired them, and the music. This also brings me to another tangent. I have two old Soviet helmets sitting on a shelf in my room, with the rest of my collection of random military items from around the world. One has a bullet hole though it that seems to be 7.62 caliber of some sort. Probably 7.62x25 (Yes, I actually measured it and that's the closest match I've found to the measurements I got.) These songs make me wonder about the story behind it. What happened to the person wearing it? What were they like? What caused that? How did it get all the way here? It's morbid, but it makes you think.

you are not alone brother, i am an australian citizen who taught himself russian. these songs are about war. much deeper meanings though. the pain is beyond words but thats the only way they can pitch what it was like to us. as the person below comment about Viktors song "Leto", that is the song that got him killed. Viktors music is what made me learn russian, though he had no war history, he made music for the soldiers (Gruppa Krovi is most referred to, it means blood type and is one of their most popular songs, i listen to it every day), what i am trying to say is this is a handful of songs that give us hope to look back and pray we never end up in their situation. unfortunately for ukraine... we are heading there again. Kino is a great band. i advise definitely listening to their music.

Щас уже без разницы. Одна нация вскоре будет на всей территории РФ, этносы только оставят. Типа в паспорте графа этнос и национальность. Национальность русский, а этнос какой хочешь.

I’ve been playing Neto on repeat, since it’s about summer being over and that was when my Russian ex girlfriend broke up with me for being unwilling to change. Now I’m trying to remember the last summer when my life still had meaning, despite that it’s been over for 3 years now, while I circle the pit of an early grave.
