I’m an Estonian woman living in Russia. When US men say “traditional” I think they mean 1950’s American women. There is similarities with a woman’s role in marriage but most US men would not enjoy life in Russia or with Russian woman because they are too used to convenience. Expectations on Russian men from both family, society and country are FAR higher and the type of men saying bad things about American women would typically struggle here, you’d be much too busy to complain about such things online, from first light to the time you sleep man is working in one way or another. Providing is not just about money but you really have to manage everything for all loved ones and failure is not possible. Our men grow up supporting their parents and we have national service for men, the idea a man can be feminine, weak or irresponsible doesn’t exist here and Russian women won’t accept that. Man has to be strong, mature and dependable and those men find success in USA too. As for passport girls, yes you can buy a partner as many girls here are poor but sadly you can’t buy love and you won’t find love in Russia if you can’t find love in America I think.

And when it comes to bride moving to husband's house, is a very old tradition but the couples always have the choice to move into a separate house of their own. And about dowry, it's been made illegal for years now but nowadays it's the bride's parents who willingly offer that to the groom saying take it as gift. I’m Estonian living in Russia, I would say height does come up but it’s not the biggest deal. Many Russian guys are short. The main thing here is that men are manly, and I think in America that’s been lost. Men need to be reliable and strong here and I think in the US you just have too much convenience and are a bit soft and I mean this with respect. I think they are expecting a "traditional" doormat-like wife that will do whatever they want. I think it is possible that it might be easier to find that in the US as traditional in Russia is somewhat different than in the US...I think there are a lot of women in the US that would love to be a "tradwife" and stay at home, but I feel this does not meet their satisfaction as the woman probably wouldn't be willing to be a servant. Russia even has a higher percentage of women working than the US and it has been like this for decades. This is especially notable when considering a good portion of female workers in the US probably only work because their husbands don't make enough to live comfortably on their wages alone and not just because they want to be independent.

I think it should be met halfway as equals that each do their part, so both can be mutually happy with a sense of independence. That way both people know the other one is there because they really want to be. Of course some sacrifices are realistically necessary. ... I also think Russian women are way more street smart which adds to the attraction towards them. This women is definitely intelligent, i hope her American boyfriend appreciates her. Being American I know how ignorant we can be.

As a Russian woman, I will say that most of us like to be "weak", allowing a man to pay for us on a date, open doors for us, give us flowers, protect us from difficulties. My female friends and I don't want to be "on par" with a man. We prefer to cook a hot dinner for our beloved man, greet him with a smile from work, and raise our children together. We only want equal respect, support for our careers or parenting, and love. As a Russian woman, I have always admired and respected men for their stress tolerance, reliability, physical strength, and more developed "technical" intelligence. I don't want to be "independent", I want to give love and care to a man in exchange for caring and loving about me. That's all. And these are my friends. It’s very strange to me. I’m Estonian and men have to do much more here. Women do too, it is just harsher country with less convenience and more effort required. But US man who complains about having to pay for a first date or hold open a door for US woman coming here is crazy because he will hold the door open for every woman and their mother, and he will pay for every single date and he should also buy flowers in between date as well 😂.

@gowine504 Honestly I think the key difference is in Slavic countries our men take the masculine role and in america they do not. The idea that you do not pay for the house (or build it) and pay all of the bills and pay for the dates and buy her flowers and that you will be disrespectful to her is completely foreign to me! I’m not sure how American men can be expect feminine women when they don’t act like man. Most of you wouldn’t do well here either, I can tell you will be much too busy to spend time complaining online 😂🇪🇪🇷🇺

@davidh7799 In Eastern Europe it is not “woman’s nature” but man’s rules. Former Soviet states rules were all dictated by men, men provide for society. It has little to do with what women want and more to do with the expectations of communism, men were the main workers and providers and women support the men. I think it was the same in USA but now woman has more rights, here it has not changed so much. Man of the past wanted the responsibility and wanted to be in charge so they make the money and they pay. The idea of having women pay bills is very western, most Slavic men would not want this as they like to be relied upon. To us, your attitude of not wanting to pay but still wanting women to be “traditional” is very strange. Traditionally men provide for women, and they chose that and wanted that. If you do not feel that is for you then it is best to stay in America because most of the rest of the world works this way.

As a woman, I don't want equal rights with my man.

We do actually have the right to work but I don’t see why this is so important to a woman. I think the American lifestyle of woman working all day and man raising children is ridiculous honestly! It’s not how nature intend things to be if you look at the animals. And I think it only happens because of capitalism and getting more people to work and pay tax. I think life works better when the burden of money is on the man and the burden of family is on the woman.

@michymc.2078 It’s different. I am Slavic woman, here men take care of us. They pay all the bills, protect us. And we mostly stay home or we have small job, but our main job is to look after family and keep house tidy. In America women tend to want career and be more independent it seems. It’s a different way of life. I do think it funny that western men seem to think it’s easier here though, I would say it is much harder, for both women but especially men, who have to work all the time.
