Russian Battlecruisers: Destroyers of the Aircraft Carriers / Combat Approved / Episode 91

Ғылым және технология

Russian army battlecruiser Pyotr Velikiy. In this episode of Combat Approve, the viewers will visit the Project Orlan heavy nuclear-powered battlecruiser Pyotr Velikiy. This is the world's largest warship after aircraft carriers. Our film crew spent 5 days on board the nuclear-powered ship during the historical voyage of the Russian Navy aircraft carrier group to the coast of Syria. In this episode, we'll show the most interesting moments of life on the ship in detail, tell about the service and living conditions of the crew. And most importantly, we will tell what combat missions Pyotr Velikiy performed during the campaign. In addition, the viewers of Combat Approved will see the grandiose construction of the new flagship of the Russian Navy - nuclear-powered battlecruiser Admiral Nakhimov, the former Kalinin. It also belongs to the Orlan project series and is currently undergoing a deep modernization. When the upgrade is complete, it will be the most modern and powerful warship, equipped with unique radio-electronics and the latest weaponry.

What planet are you on, mate? The British are just as bad, if not worse. See: EE Lightning is the greatest jet to ever fly, ever. Spitfire was Christ’s own fighter. Lancaster won war with Germany. Typhoon smokes the F-22 because…reasons? Comet was more significant than the 707. Monty was universally considered to be the most arrogant man to have ever graced this mortal coil by everyone but Monty. E.W. Brown thought he broke the sound barrier till his last breath. And not to be outdone, the reigning king of tragically aggressive gloating, Jeremy Clarkson - The man who considers any car of British origin to be fundamentally superior to anything made elsewhere (again with a straight face). P.S. I just watched a documentary in which a British historian claimed (with a straight face) that the Concorde bested the USA’s moon landing in difficulty and prestige. In summary, modesty is not a British virtue. 😂

Pyotr Velikiy class BCG is simply the most beautiful post WW2 warship to my eyes. The sweeping hull lines, layout and overall proportions just seem perfect to me. Then there is the incredible firepower. The well balanced and integrated, surface, subsurface and air defense systems are just superb! These ships will forever be unequaled in capabilities. The Russian navy's proud history seems to be concentrated into these two remaining ships and gloriously represent this well-deserved pride. I, for one, can't wait to see Admiral Nakhimov set sail, hopefully soon, to represent her nation and naval history. Plyt' vo slava navsegda

I would hardly say that is obsolescence. Meanwhile each dedicated US warship class you champion, has outmoded systems such as Standard, Harpoon and Tomahawk as main armament. Serious commentators such as HH Sutton and Sub Brief, acknowledge US parity only in submarines. The reality is the US is a generation adrift of Russia in key areas.

Therefore, common sense indicates it would be a high-value surveillance target for NATO as Russia does with the American super-carriers. Common sense would be that NATO allocates sufficient forces to take these ships out ASAP instead of letting them roam. Just like the carriers these ships most likely have a giant virtual target on them and just like the Russians, NATO can overwhelm a target with multiple missiles and get through its defenses. The only time Yamato fired her main guns at enemy surface targets was at American troop transports and little poorly defended escort carriers. And the weakly protected light escort carrier group of the U.S. Navy's Task Force 77, "Taffy 3" scared the mighty Yamato and the Japanese to break off the attack and retreat. As I understand it, Nakhimov will be armed with Zircon and Caliber missiles. If so, then for several years it will be the most powerful ship on Earth. It will only be possible to destroy it with a few US or Chinese AUGs after the cruiser spends the Zircon missiles. Another option is a nuclear ballistic missile strike. However, the S-400F can most likely shoot down all the blocks of one such missile. Remains a massive attack on one ship. Another option is a submarine attack, but these ships in the USSR were originally built as anti-submarine.

I love how they left out the part about needing a tug for the carrier and the cruiser because soviet era equipment was shit. Dont get me wrong, i love how the cruiser looks and how heavily armed they are but if they cant stay underway on their own power then none of it matters.

Let's hope that all that means - in the case of Piotr Viliky, - is that THAT is 1 of the reasons that it is going to go in for the upgrade.

@@caltonfollows2168 you simply cannot upgrade the steam power plant to nuclear propulsion. As ex navy those old ships are built around there steam plants and old main engines and shafts..One US carrier group could destroy russias entire navy and swing by and bitchslap chinas navy on the way home.

@@mikehankins4513 Your propulsion link doesn't work btw. I don't know what the connection is supposed to be for how you jump to your claim that 1 U.S. carrier group could destroy Russia's entire navy. - An absurd claim I'd say, AND I reckon it would be the other way around, care of those S-500 missiles they carry @ something like Mach 15. Anyway, Piotr Viliky is ALREADY nuclear powered, - so it's just an update job to be done on it.

@@mikehankins4513 The Moskva incident IS rather strange BUT, watching youtube, you'd get the impression that those TB2 Bayraktar drones are decimating the Russian army, UNTIL, you see how many TB2's ( the Russians allege ) have been killed : 762 ! ! I have a sneaking suspicion, that some green kid was asleep on the job so to speak, probably feeling too cocky.

Jive Turkey did a review of the sonar. It scares the hell out of submariners. It saturates with sound and provides continuous return.

Vladimir,I was impressed of the photo,s and history of 1853.Dun,t know it was like that. But I,m more curious and, want to ask if you can get some photo,s of the last czar.I understand what led to the rebellion back then. The people were starving and help a uprising.I was concerned that maybe it was just a coup. But then that answered my questioned.Vladimir I know your a economic,s genius certainly wouldn,t ever let something like that happen again.
