More like NATO's war against Russia. NATO was just using Ukraine as their pawn to wage a proxy war on Russia. NATO provoked this war with Russia by threatening to make Ukraine a NATO member and placing NATO forces in Ukraine, against Russia's stern warnings that this would not be tolerated. However NATO grossly miscalculated Russia's military might.
