Russia Seized US ATACMS Guidance System and Will Use It Against

Ғылым және технология

In the Russia-Ukraine war, advanced technology plays a crucial role as modern weapons are equipped with cutting-edge systems. However, this advancement also heightens concerns for those who possess such technology. In Ukraine, while the U.S. and other allies supply high-tech military equipment, there is a significant risk that these assets could fall into enemy hands. This concern extends beyond the potential destruction of equipment; even more troubling is the possibility that these advanced weapons could be seized in good condition.
This concern has recently become a reality when Russia announced the capture of a critical component from the US-supplied Army Tactical Missile System or ATACMS used in Ukraine. News of the capture was first reported on July 1st by Russia's state-owned news agency, RIA Novosti. The news included a video featuring a masked weapons expert examining the alleged ATACMS component.
RIA claims the captured system is a complete guidance and flight correction unit from the US-manufactured weapon, obtained after a successful interception by Russian forces. While the overall condition of the downed missile may be compromised, the intact guidance system represents a potentially valuable intelligence coup for Russia. This makes us wonder; what exactly are the potential benefits of this captured ATACMS component for Russia?

You are correct but KonaCommuter is somewhat correct. The plane landed on Niihau and I believe it was intact at first as the pilot searched for help from sympathizers but when things went south the pilot was able to set fire to it before being killed. We got parts but not much more. It’s a very interesting side drama to Pearl Harbor that a lot of people don’t know about. As an aside, the people on Niihau willing to help the pilot were part of the influence toward the decision for the relocation camps.

😂😂Sad thing is that the system of atacms are already considered by the US as obsolete and even if russia use it then russian system already fall under obsolete comparison.😂😂

Lol. It was only considered obsolete when Russia was shooting them down at a rate of 10-1. The atacms replacement hasn't even made it through trials yet. Dumb.

Russia can do all that radar jamming is cause Ukraine doesn't have capability to take it down. Ukraine doesn't have attack airplane. If you look at the gulf war, U.S air took out radar site of Iraq.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, they design thos stuff to ne nearly impossible to reverse engineer. I worked with GPS for guided bombs for a while in my 20's. The integrated circuits are filled with false circuit paths. They look like a toddler's scribbles.

I'm not sure the guidance system would help them that much. Ring lazer gyros don't have gimbal lock and the max turn rate is going to be a function of physics, not the guidance package. Odds are the software was loaded into ram from the launch console and the contents were lost when power was. The Russians could develop interceptors with better maneuvering, ATACMS is probably outsteering the interceptors (designed for more balistic targets) till they run out of fuel.

My opinion is that if Russia manages to capture Chasofyar and Ugledar and then repels the Western forces at least 15 to 20 km from these two fortifications and, of course, clears Avdievka, Soledar and Bakhmit just enough to be there in some of the remaining buildings of its strength, that should be quite enough for the West to no longer be able to threaten the Russian rear. Given that these cities are on an elevation compared to everything in front of them, and all that Dnieper, Russia will be able to freely transfer to these locations With 300 PMU 2, S 400 as well as many other air defense systems, for now Avdievka is still in ruins, of course, I don't think that Russia should rebuild that city at this moment, but it is enough to clear the streets as much as possible and to at least slightly rebuild some buildings that have not been damaged. Of course, the engineers would very easily bring water and electricity there, just as much as the army needs, because winter will arrive much faster than it looks today. In any case, The sooner Russia can deploy its long-range air defense systems, the more problems the West will have to threaten the Russian military with any missiles. These are neither fast nor particularly modern missiles, the only problem is that systems such as the Buk or Pantsir do not have enough time to detect and shoot them down for the simple reason that their radar range is limited
