Russia’s SARMAT ICBM Set For Combat Debut In Ukraine

Ғылым және технология

The images of war in Ukraine dominate our news feeds: bombed-out buildings, desperate forces, and the relentless rumble of artillery. But a different kind of battle is brewing behind the scenes, one fought not with bullets and bombs, but with technological innovation.
While the world watches the conflict unfold on the ground, Russia has unveiled a trio of advanced weapons systems: the Sarmat ICBM, the Avangard hypersonic glide vehicle, and the Peresvet laser system. These technological marvels could potentially reshape the landscape of modern warfare, with implications that extend far beyond the battlefields of Ukraine.
Let's explore what these systems can do and how they might impact the ongoing conflict!

How about all of the West at once ? When a Ukrainian tank is damaged, it goes for refitting in Moldavia, Russia is not allowed to hit Moldavia, same for intel centers from where Ukrainian strikes are planned, normally , these would be high priority targets first to get hit, but in truth, Russia is now forced to fight this war with one arm tied behind its back.

no. That will be a waste of icbm because the payload size is small hence the amount of conventional explosives that can be delivered will be low. But more important reason why icbm will not be used to deliver conventional explosives is because both sides can detect icbm launch. They will not wait for the bomb to hit and explode to decide if the launched icbm had nuclear or conventional explosives. As such, once icbm launch detected, the other side has to assume that it carried nuclear and so will also launch their nuclear icbms for a MAD outcome.

If Putin openly announces a special missile operation, with a few converted to carrying conventional explosives, then he will avoid the taboo of launching nukes. The whole point of such a SMO is to verify the targeting and delivery systems of Sarmat. And to demonstrate the political will to do so. That, right there, will be a major deterrent against Washington.

Russia's deployment of the SARMAT ICBM in Ukraine marks a concerning escalation in the region's tensions. The introduction of this advanced missile system raises serious questions about the future of security in Eastern Europe and underscores the urgent need for diplomatic efforts to prevent further destabilization.

Its payload is five-fold compared to anything else.

So Russia has 21st century ICBM's, hyper-sonic missile systems, tank systems (T-14), new attack submarines, 5th generation fighters and bombers, EW systems and the S-550 Airdefence system that can shoot down ICMB's and hyper-sonic missiles? Their nuclear doctrine is pretty straightforward, if a sneak nuclear strike is done, the Russian "Dead hand" procedure kicks into action. A series of SS-25 (upgraded) missiles are launched all over Russia and around the world. These missiles carry communication beacon's whose job is to automatically launch Russia's nuclear deterrent, all of them. Because the Russian government and major decision making apparatus has been killed and this is their answer to that attack.
